  1. Seeing I just met a Korean tomboy last night who was interested on me and day before met the waitress who served me lunch yesterday next to my condo at a club 2 days ago and took me home for free ???? I can totally agree Thailand can be such a weird place.

When times got hard, my wife did some gate security to help out with the bills. She regularly asked for id of people she did not know, since it was her job to ensure the safety of the community. Wife wife is fluent in English - much to the surprise of most coming to the gate - most on gates are not fluent or have to choose other words. I would not worry about it - and besides, I thought Thai farang law said keep copy of passport on you at all times - he may well have known that

Nah. It says government issued identification form. A passport is one way. A citizen ID card from your own country (similar to how thai people also have one for their country) is as well, after all it doesn’t say needs to be a thai government and Thai government doesn’t issue your passport. In my case I just keep the passport at home and use the ID card as identification everywhere I go except hotels sometimes and flights.

A friend of mine tells me that he presents his Thai driving license as ID when he books into a hotel for a short stay in Bangkok. He says that that does not cause the hotel to to register him as staying at the hotel so he doesn't have to present a TM30 form at his immigration office in Buriram.

I explained that the license has his passport number on it and so the hotel should report the passport holder as having stayed at the hotel.

But he insists that he has done this a few times, and that the hotel in Bangkok were he stays confirms this story and that they don't send a TM30 report to immigration.

I need to stay in Bangkok one night to get a new passport soon (18 months) so am interested if this is acceptable / works / risky.

    I reckon "risky".

I did the same with my European ID card lol. They only require a legal form of indentification. Tm 30 is only when you stay over 24h. If you visit your friends home and come back same day you don’t fill a tm30. Hotel same way if you stay under 24h.

As it is essentially an unlimted entry visa, surely they would not require you to report you address on each arrival?

If it was in the rules, im sure they would not enforce it.

Imagine the uproar if folks paid that sort of money and immigration wanted to fine them 800 for not reporting.

    lol

Thats me ???? . Fined on my first 90 day report with that visa half year ago. Since then I always do it online if stay 90 days here.

I have already 20 years an account with UOB bank, but I am closing my ties with them now.

For every single transaction, they require a certification from the branch where you opened your account.
I opened my account in Bangkok, but I am living now already 19 years in Korat.
A big PITA to call to Bangkok everytime I go to the local branch for a simple transaction.

A few years ago, I opened with them a FCD-account (Euro), because the FAT "lady" at Bangkok didn't want to open a FCD-account.
Strange if you consider that I have a FCD-account in US-Dollars at Bangkok Bank for already 12 years.

At that time, they promised me that it would be possible very soon to do transactions of the FCD-account with their Internet banking software.
But now, nearly 5 years later, it is still not possible to do anything with their lousy Internet banking.
If I want a statement for immigration, I would need to go to Bangkok to get it.

If you live in Bangkok or surroundings, UOB is a great bank.
But outside Bangkok, UOB is a PITA and it's best to avoid them like the plague.

This. I also use uob since nearest branch is 100m away from my condo, no issues whatsoever even for oversea transfers. As long as you provide all documentation regarding source of the money but the online app is kinda meh. Their exchange rates and interest are decent.

And disagree with post above. 3 years ago I tried opening with Bangkok bank and couldn’t without embassy letter despite having a non-immigrant-b visa back then, and trust me not a money issue. At the time was earning over 5k usd per month already lol. Maybe I just looked too young to them or something. Whatever their loss lol. For uob opened right away with 1m in cash. They were pretty nice ????

Krungsri is also easy but their rates are meh. Their online app is nice thought.

  6. 100% agree. Too many woman get away with physical violence bs. My ex for instance tried hitting me on public and she got bruises from me grabbing her to prevent her from hitting me and then she kept threatening to report me to police for hitting her when she was the one who had scratched all my body, I was bleeding everywhere due to her gel nails.

A video in this situation would have been nice. Ofc everyone believes her... except her ex cuz she did the same to him and also blamed him. The guy still has a scar in his arm due to her.

There's nothing in the article about her 'snatching' the child.

According to Thailand child custody law, both lawful parents of a child have full custodial rights (unless a Thailand court order modifies these parental rights.)

So, unless a court had granted sole custody to the father (of which there's no evidence) she had a perfect right to take her child with her. What makes you think the father has more right to the child than the mother or that any "injustice" was done to him?

According to what your saying he didn’t snatch either.

If your condo is raided by immigration you will be find, made to phone your landlord and he finned too. The place I stay was raided, many had to pay fine, they where ask for copy of lease, TM30 receipt, pictures taken inside and out side of room.

This is why I pretend I’m not home if anyone touches my door lol. Also how is it my fault that emigration system taking 1-2 weeks to make a tm30 and I’m traveling outside Thailand more often than that ????. Law is broken. Honestly I’d rather be deported than pay over some law I didn’t break since I’m giving the data to landlord every time within 24h.

6 weeks ago was in thailand, 5 weeks ago was in Miami,4 weeks ago Thailand, 3 weeks ago poipet, then Thailand again 2 weeks ago, then hk last weekend, then Thailand until Thursday then Siam reap right now, and then coming back to Thailand next week and going to Taiwan next month probably ????.

  9. Meanwhile I keep traveling out of Thailand every 1-3 weeks and can’t even switch my visa to new passport because I’m missing a tm30 and it takes too long ????. By the time my landlord is done I’m already out of country again.

Im thinking of giving up and just stick to use 2 passports and online 90day reports and forget about tm30 (elite company told me I can’t do this but it worked so far so...). You only need tm30 when u walk in emigration office. Not at borders nor online so it should work until visa renewal.

In meantime I just send my entry stamps and tm6 to landlord every time I get back home, if I get fined, will just discount it from rent as it’s his fault I guess ????

Wonder when they'll begin going after the " digital nomads ".

They already did. Why do you think I have an elite visa ????.

For all I care I don’t even hide i work online nowadays. If they kick me out whatever. I can buy residence in another country any time I want and most of my money is invested in stocks offshore. Regardless bit borred here in bkk now that I stayed for 3 years. I keep traveling to nearby countries every month for holidays while working. So yeah my purpose of visit to everywhere I go is holidays and not lying in that aspect, but I still run my investments, business and job while on my laptop or phone, often even inside airplane, sometimes even at the club lol. Dancing and making money at same time is great.

  11. Idk. 200k isn’t that much. I’ve withdrawn 500k before in like 10 withdrawals at tmb and krungsri atms lol so it’s the same but more practical. Think you’re underestimating how much money a lot of businesses transfer every day and how much people withdraw for purchases in cash. Plus it’s cheaper to use an exchange such as super rich and bring the money In cash than oversea transfers. Rate is much better. And perfectly legal as long as you declare it at customs if above 10k usd.

For the most part banks aren’t concerned with people withdrawing a few thousands a year but millions.

Yeah my wife travels a lot for work, and most places are 3500 or up, never seen 1200 for anything nice.

I travel a lot. (Been in half of provinces in Thailand) and most of time 4/5 star. You can find many nice 4 star hotels for 1000-1600 easily with search, as for 5 star never seen any nice one under 1700 either, and usually over 2000-2500 even during their renovation/opening period. But most nice 4 star hotels I find for that price often increase price later on. I’m guessing I’m taking advantage of low seasons, avoiding Friday-Saturday’s and marketing strategies.

    Me too.

Some are consistently victims of thefts and scams.  I believe they need to take a better look at themselves.

Demeanor, attention, booze, physical appearance.  Whatever, I find it curious especially like one poster in Pattaya who claimed he had been ripped off at every 7-11 in the city.  Wow, ok gosh sounds like a personal problem.

Over 20 times I’ve had taxis  stop meter and charge diff Prices. One time I got so pissed i opened door left and picked a different taxi. But... I’ve had people also return me money when I overpaid (mostly outside tourist zones).
