A friend of mine is selling motor bike plastics on Lazada and Shopee. In an average week he gets three times more sales from Shopee.
He also sells "mini" bundles on facebook. That is he buys a big bundle of clothes or shoes and then breaks it down into 10 or more mini bundles. His last one was a shoe bundle with 144 pairs. He broke it down into 12 mini bundles of 12 pairs. Sold the lot in 3 days.

I like elephant flaps (beef curtains). I like anything that is female to be prominent and not CGI'd or photoshopped out on the front of a magazine. If you ever look on youtube with (primarily Japanese, but also other Asian regions) were they have eye, hair, jowls tighteners, tooth overlays etc, and the do a transformation from omg 'n' 'o' no, to wow, is that really possible? then you can see the fakery (they look like Anime cartoons), and want to take them for a swim to see if it's all water proof. Asians with blue or green eyes look great, until you take a second and realise the lie - you're not interacting with a person, but a pre A.I. organic robot.
So so many beautiful people, all natural, and I wonder how they get the mental distortion to want to Orange-utan their hair, piece, tattoo, whiten, silicone etc.
I saw a young girl on our street yesterday morning when the dogs demanded that it was walk time about 5:15am (not even light yet, "and you missie are not the alpha"), but eventually I do what blokes do and comply. This girl was incredibly pretty, lean, had something about her (way too young for my fat western ass and my wedding ring, but I was just looking). She was so shy, and our little pup really wanted to meet her, taking me for a walk as much as she could pull the leash. She was scared of the pup (she can't bite really, it's a rat on stilts), but she smiled that nervous smile.
The point being, this is not an old blokes daydream, it's that she didn't have fashion braces, silicone, hair colour change, impolite clothing and she was very unsure of herself, which was truly beautiful. I guess I'll see her in 5 years somewhere in summertime, when her elders have told her how it should be done, and she'll be just another broken commodity.
How I wish I'd got here at 18 with resources and met someone that was similar to the above, but as they say "too soon old, too late smart".Nice post.

Excluding them is a doddle. Chinese and Indian ethnicity is a pre-existing condition.

It will be a show stopper for many.
But difficult to predict the extent of the damage.
Much will depend on the manner of implementation.
But noting we were given just one month's notice of these current changes, train wreck is an image that come easily to mind.

There is a small typo in your topic heading.
"If" should be "When".

Reading between the lines.. 3 million baht O-X retirement visa.. Thailand elite systems.. I would tend to agree that is the signalling.
As ever with Thailand they will gradually introduce things, like a frog in hot water, death by a 1000 cuts style.. That way they can control the pressure applied as they see fit, depending n how they do economically. During that time many will remain in denial, many will yell the 'go home if you dont like it' when the element they introduce doesnt apply to them (kind of ironic how the tables have reversed lately from the young guys losing repeat entry and easy tourist visas.. Old stable retirees telling them 'thailand owes you nothing, theres not a class for you' from thier high horse.. and now ??)..
The only constant since my arrival in 2001 is that none of it has gotten easier..
Yep. Remember a few years bacl when they were cracking down on the ED visa. Those on retirement extensions were riding high in the saddle then. Now it's their turn to have their lives torn apart.

If the 'grandfathering' also applies to married applicants it might be even less than 400K. You need to look up the criteria for marriage extensions and see whether it applies.
I'm quite sure he's not 'done for' as our prophet of doom said above.
I'll be back to say I told you so when the compulsory insurance hammers falls later this year.
Long stay expats here are currently under siege.
If you want to live in denial "up to you".

Besides, on paper, he would fully qualify to extend based on 200K in the bank because of being here on retirement prior to 1998.
From a pragmatic point of view, how would he prove that?
His older passports would be gone for sure one would imagine?
And immigration cannot even keep records on a retiree for more than 12 months. I have to submit reams of the exactly the same documents year after year.

He's done for.
Long stay expats here are currently under siege. Unfortunately, the mass of them do not yet realize it.
Even if he puts together the required money for his next extension, he will not be able to get health insurance coverage which will also be a requirement before the end of this year.

Not at Rayong Immigration (our office), thank goodness. See report below from an acquaintance who obtained his latest retirement extension there yesterday on the basis of 800k in the bank:-
"I asked about the latest Police Order, which is perfectly clear as to what is required re maintaining 800k for 5 months of the year and 400k for the other 7 months, but says nothing about the verification process. Are we going to have to start producing our bank books/ statements every 90 days? The answer - as far as Rayong Immigration is concerned - is no. As long as when you next apply (after the first application under this Order) you can produce a record of the required balances for the previous year you're in the clear. This is what I hoped they'd say, and eminently sensible."
And what if you are in breach. That is the million dollar question. Do they just not renew your new application next year. And when can you apply? Or are you banished onto a tourist visa or whatever other solution you can scrounge up. Or do you have to deposit 800K and wait another 2 months to season it
Or if you failed to keep your balance over 400K all year are you declared on overstay, as would be the case if you were on a non-B extension and got fired, or a marriage extension and got divorced?
And if the breach (just one satang by the way would be all it that it takes), and it occurred more than 6 months prior to your date of application can you be jailed for overstay, deported and banned from Thailand for 5 years.

Good question.
The new rules about 800K bank account applications apply to all.
The new rules about required monthly import are only about income based applications for people that can't get embassy letters.
Combo method for people that can't get embassy letters is not mentioned at all in orders or memos, so those expecting to do that need to be warned that based on what we know now, there is an excellent chance of rejection.
How people are supposed to make plans in this kind of unclear chaotic environment is beyond me.
They only plan they want you to make is a plan of departure.

Yes. Lack of clarity promotes further opportunities to profit from corruption.

If that's your idea of trolling, I suggest you read all the thousands of posts that have been going on this subject since before you joined TV and you will see that I too am trying to help with this situation.
If you never told a child how to spell, the English language would be disastrous. So why not tell an adult as well?
Your conduct is in breach of the rules of this forum:

To the OP:
There is currently no expat holding a retirement visa. They would have a Non O visa and be on a current extension of that based on retirement.
A blanket 12 monthly moratorium on financial for extensions applications would assist in alleviated the confusion and hardship created by the new rules.
Hopefully the moratorium would not only cover new applicants but also individuals like myself and Sheryl who have recently obtained an extension, but do not know whether or not we have to top up our bank accounts with 400K prior to March 1.
I am not sure what impact a moratorium would have on illegal agent activity. There are very few impediments to corrupt activity here. So it would be easy for agents to swing back into action in full force once the moratorium is lifted.

Already a report from a major agent saying fees will be MUCH higher.
I agree of course nobody knows exactly what will happen yet. I wouldn't even be shocked if they call the whole thing off. It's obviously a train wreck.
The timing of this is no coincidence, just before the election. Trying to win electoral brownie points for sticking to them evil foreigners. So no they can't call the whole thing off, too much loss of face, and certainly not before the election, which is set for next month, but may never occur as well.

You will have to have your marriage certificate legalized and then translated to Thai. Then the translation will have to be certified by the Department of Consular Affairs of the MFA in Bangkok. Then you will need to go to a Amphoe to register your foreign marriage to get a Kor Ror 22 marriage registry that immigration requires to apply for the extension of stay based upon marriage.
That does not sound easier than a retirement extension. Can you re-use all these documents each year?

Any other ExPats selling on Lazada?

He is Thai. I forget the exact figure that he told me. I think about 15 or 20 thousand baht for the big bundle of shoes. Comes from wholesaler in Bangkok (But the shoes come from abroad somewhere). The bundle is like a big lucky dip. Usually at least 12 or more really good items in each bundle and then the rest is just ok stuff. He makes up the smaller bundles with at least one great item in each one.
The trick is having the capital to buy a big bundle. I know it is not a lot of money but not many Thais have a lazy 20K siting around to play with.
He actually got the idea because he started buying mini bundles off another guy on facebook (because he didn't have enough money to buy a whole big bundle). I lent him the cash to buy his first big bundle (which he paid me back within a week) and since then he has not looked back.
Good and simple business model really. He is kind of like a mid level wholesaler.
