  1. Everyone must be sick of answering questions re Visas! Well here's another one!

I am in my 2nd year of a Non-Immig "O" visa (retirement) which is up for renewal on 2.1.2005. I recently married a Thai citizen and now wish to apply for a SuppThaiWife classification with 200,000 in the bank, due to change to 400,000 on July 9, 2004.

I've been told by CM Immig that I cannot apply for the STW Visa until 1 month before the expiration of the current visa. Is this correct please? I was then told I would be given a 1 month extension of my current visa to allow for the 4 month process to take place! Do they extend me a month at a time? Of course this then excludes me from qualifying for the 200 thou and will have to find 400! Did I hear correct, and if not can you please give me an e-mail address of the head office of Thai Immig Bureau so as I can take the matter up with them? Regards. ROD.

  2. I need some URGENT advice please re SuppThaiWife Visa. I am in my 2nd year in Thailand on a Non-Immig "O" visa and recently married a Thai citizen. I now wish to apply for a SuppThaiWife visa, but have been told I must wait until 1 month before my present 1 year visa expires! Is this correct? This will then exclude me from the 200,00 baht proof due to alter on July 9. What happens 1 month before the expiry date of my present visa? Do Immig issue me with a 1 month or 1 year extension as I've laso been told it can take up to 4 months to complete. I would also like the e-mail address of Head Office in Bangkok to hear it from them or some other reputable office (Phuket sounds like they know what's going on!). Can anyone assist me please with reliable info and necessary contacts please! Regards. Rod COURT.

  3. Capt "K" mentions that the new applicant needs apply 1 month prior to expiration of present one year visa. Do Thai Immig then give 1 monthly extensions whilst the application is being processed. If this is the case, I was told by an official in CM that this process of getting a Marry Visa can take up to 4 months? Do they hopefully extend you 4 times or is there a limitation to the number of extensions one can get, and secondly does the applicant need to exit and re-enter or are they just "stamped" at the local Imm Office? Can anyone assist please?

  4. Lopburi3; thanks for the reply I'm getting somewhere now.

I currently hold a 12 month non-immig, multi-entry visa (I originally applied as a retiree and showed proof of 800,000 baht in the bank. However, the visa does not state the words "retirement"). In a few months it will expire. I wish to  renew the visa as I wish to stay on in Thailand indefinitely. Can I avoid the proof of the 800,000 baht in the bank as I originally did when the visa was first granted by just applying to have the visa extended for a further one-year?

    Regards.  ROD COURT.

  5. No.

    'not sent email'

??? Thankyou Lopburi3 for your brief, sharp reply!

The obvious next question from me to anyone who can assist is:-

Can you advise how one should go about getting an extension on a one year visa (Non-immig Mult. entry)?

I am using this forum to short-cut the frustration of attending the Immigration Office. A decent reply would be appreciated to give guidance for a un-initiated ex-pat!
