If I want to move to retirement visa how many months do I have to show the 800k in the bank? I presume this is one of the main issues to satisfy apart from being above 50 yrs old.
Any other tips are appreciated

Don't be so sure....the Labor seems to be favoring much tighter regulation:
"But opposition financial services spokesman Stephen Jones said the government’s laissez-faire attitude was irresponsible and born of a desire to avoid the thorny task of regulating digital assets.
“It really is extraordinary that the government is encouraging Australians to swim outside the flags,” Mr Jones told The Australian Financial Review. “Because that’s what they’re doing when they buy and trade in a non-regulated currency. If the government is encouraging people to swim outside the flags then they’re liable for an accident that occurs as a result."
“They can only duck this for so long but this is not going away.”
boring blah blah from nanny state politicians. I dont care. I bought btc a long time ago and never sold it. Thailand is accepting it slowly. They are gradually regulating this sector. But its all good

Governments worldwide don't like cryptocurrencies, because they compete with their fiat currencies. China has already banned transactions in bitcoin, it won't be long before other countries follow suit. In 5 years time, the opposite of what you are claiming could equally be true.
Just bc communist china tries to ban something doesn't mean a western democracy will. The oz govt seem to be ok about it as long as their citizens pay CGT tax. The west rarely follow China on anything. Much the opposite

It never ceases to amaze me that Thailand can have government officers in positions of responsibility who are as stupid and ignorant as that and yet they survive and get promoted.
My Thai wife said more or less the same thing when she had to re-new her medical license after changing her name due to our marriage. She had to visit the appropriate govt building... walked up to reception. The receptionist said go down the hall and last door on the left. So my wife knocked and walked in the door. This old boiler government officer screamed at my wife and said 'get out of my office now'. My wife walked back to reception and the receptionist said 'sorry about her'. Having a laugh about it driving home my wife said that some of these stupid idiots get promoted simply bc they have spent so long in the job. No other reason.

I've been married for ages and about to get a WP to satisfy the 3 yr rule/ income and get Thai citizenship. If I get this does it mean that I 100% dont have to do 90 day reporting and yearly ext of stay based on marriage. Can I get a Thai passport and keep my oz passport?
Ive read over the years how hard it is to get PR. I dont understand whats the difference/ advantages of each. Why not just bypass and go for citizenship?
With PR does one not have to do 90 day reporting and visas?
thanks for the education on this topic

As Thailand is yoyo'ing every day, Covid exploding, state of emergency extended, the sandpit has not been proven yet to work - if ever, no tourists are coming so far. So please explain the theory behind it ? I concede the fact if you consider many somewhere between 5 and 10.
I put money on it that by December/ Jan (the next high season) tourism will be returning to normal here. Most countries around the world are giving the jab right now to their citizens. Its all happening and no doubt by year end all will be normal and busy again. I will diarize to send you a PM when Im correct about this xmas time.

Based on the fact that many tourists will be visiting Thailand this year for their holidays to enjoy themselves in the Thai bar / massage scene, do you agree that ALL such working girls should be forced to get the jab and be prepared to show evidence when requested. Perhaps the local govt' could put the onus on bar manager to ensure all his workers are vaccinated and be fined 20,000 baht per infringement. It would be easy enough to show proof on a phone app.
I think many uneducated Thai's need rules like this and they need decisions made for them. Otherwise many will probably not get the jab and thus covid will continue to be a problem in Thailand.
What do you think about this nanny state suggestion?

Public hospitals?
Private hospitals?
Both?
All hospitals?
Have the hospitals been informed?
Note the requirement if using passport that the hospital have your medical records.
What if they don't?
What you dont understand is that in every city in Thailand a hospital has already been inoculating front line doctors, dentists, nurses etc. The infrastructure is already set up and going. My wife has already had her 2 shots. They are now clearly ready for the rest of us. Dont be too cynical. Its all happening...

Its the reason why I sold my 2 IPs prior to this. I could see the writing on the walls.
Look at the way that bogan redneck commie leader premier in queensland is treating expats. Shes a shocker.
Its outrageous that I pay big taxes all my life and then they bring in taxes as you say above. Their mentality is that we are disloyal to the country for wanting to live abroad. Glad that I left that nanny state for good. No regrets

The wife and I sleep in separate rooms. Anyone else in this situation?
in Marriage and Divorce
Posted
Ever since our little one was born I've been sleeping in the spare bedroom. My wifes mother was around a lot helping with the baby and they were all sleeping in the marital bedroom. Now my boy is 6 and they are co-sleeping still. Thankfully the inlaws havent come to stay for ages due to the covid situation. Last year I set up a kids room but he has never migrated across.
I think it was Maggie Thatcher who said 'those who sleep apart grow apart'. I tend to agree with this. Im not feeling the love anymore. Recently I told both of them things have to change but of course they haven't.
I think in a western country it would deemed to be rather odd for a 6 yr old to be still sleeping in mummies bed. But maybe in Thailand its normal.
Anyone else have experiences with this?
