Your extension expires automatically, so you have to leave the country. You only get 7 days to leave if you apply for another extension but are denied.

But immigration also wants to get a letter from your school which says that you finished your studies, and they will then specifically cancel your extension. If you fail to do this step you might have problems to get another extension.

    Thanks for info ????

The important thing is to avoid female immigration officers.

100%! - I was tempted to change queue as noticed this as waiting - but then thought that makes me look more dodge and she had seen I was in her queue. All the females were grilling the guys just stamping away minding their biz thinking what’s for dinner.

  3. I did 12 months in covid extensions, went home for 5 months and came back yesterday with evisa. She did ask a lot more questions than I’ve ever been asked before (to see my onward travel, plans when here, what I do for her work etc) but then did get in no problems. I’d recommend getting an evisa too as added security I think they are more hesitant to refuse these. There seemed to be a lot more grilling of entrants all round not just me.

thats unfortunate as I am also in my mid 20's, I wonder why they got tagged for working, usually those in mid 20's aren't working in thailand from my experience, ill book a flight for September and bring the flight, maybe that will help, if not maybe I can use an agent for once

Think an agent best bet - French guy was offering to show proof of where his income was from and they wasn’t interested - wasn’t even the io explaining just a volunteer girl - presumably because her English was perfect.

I was a little surprised when i went to my local immigration office to ask for a covid extension. My current permission to stay expires on June 23rd I went on June the 9th. However the extremely helpful officer suggested that I return nearer my current expiry date as according to him the 60 day covid extensions start from the day one applies and I therefore if he had processed the application there and then (which he was quite prepared to do ) I would have forfeited 14 days.  I had assumed, obviously incorrectly that the 60 days would be added on to my current expiry date, so it was nice of them to help, and no problem for me as i live only 5 minutes from the office

That’s strange all of my covid extensions have been added on to the current last date not from when I applied. But think it varies dependent on where you go. Nice of them to be helpful tho it defo wasn’t Bangkok then ????

I'm just wondering what the computer says, is it purely a stamp mistake issuing 40 days but computer says correct 30 days?

I'd be going for the covid extension before the 13 July to be safe, but that's just me ????

After seeing them refusals today gonna switch over to Ed visa and learn Thai - it looked  very painful ha

I can't comment on the feasibility of obtaining Thai citizenship but I can suggest a way to learn Thai.

I approached a Kumon center and asked if I could learn Thai there. I was lucky enough to be accepted into that school and have been going there now for 2 1/2 years. I can tell you that it is by far the best way to learn Thai. The Kumon teaching method slowly builds your competence in the Thai language over time. Today, I can say that my Thai is better than average - in reading, speaking and writing. What does it cost ? They charged me THB 1500 per month. Aside from the monetary cost, it will cost you time - you will need to spend at least 1 hour a day doing your Kumon homework EVERYDAY and go to the Kumon center at least once a week. I did that for 30 months straight and am glad that I made that investment - I can now listen to Thai radio and watch Thai TV news and can pretty much understand most of what I hear. Worth the effort if you really want to learn Thai and I think you will pass with flying colors in the citizenship language test. My longer goal is to get Thai citizenship and I started with learning the language.  I am going to get my yellow tabian baan in the next few months and am planning my next steps in terms of contributions to Thai society before I actually begin the process of applying for Thai citizenship. Don't be deterred by those that say it is next to impossible - maybe, but you won't know until you have tried it and crossed the t's and dotted all the i's. Good luck !!

Don’t suppose you have a website link to where you went? Tried googling but getting only English and maths classes for school kids ?
