Having just watched the video I have to say that as PR stunt it went badly wrong. If anything it shows how woefully incapable they are at dealing with an armed aggressor. If you are doing it as a training exercise this would be the "slow time walk through" then you reset and the perpetrator actually behaves like an armed aggressor. Pretty sure whoever it was they got to play the bad guy is pretty unused to armed combat, judging by his stance and the way he held the weapon. Even having to be told to run away! No boys, you did yourselves, and tourism, no favours at all with that video.

Only problem I've ever had with dogs here it has been dogs escaping their garden/yard and attacking me. Stray dogs tend to shy away, owned dogs not so much. I know why one of the dogs attacked me when it found the gate open. I had previously seen the owners whipping the dogs with a length of electrical cable because they were barking. Doesn't endear them to humans when they are treated that way.

Except forthe factthat the ones with themostunpaid fines are usually the ones (especially motorcyclists) who consider insurance a suggestion rather than a requirement, so it still wouldn't be paid. Here's a thought, create a company under contract to the police (preferably staffed by farangs) to visit the homes of non payers and impound their vehicles. You pay the fine you get your motorcycle/Fortuner back,until then you walk. -
So, you can advertise and sell/buy weed online but not beers, wines and spirits. Right. Dr. Steven Strange has a lot to answer for, all that f'ing about with the multiverse, he's left me in the wrong dimension.

Their aim seems to be to knock down the seedier (but up until Covid biggest revenue) areas and build more malls filled with expensive goods and designer names. Okay, for the big spenders that may be a draw but in tourism it's often the quantity, not the quality that sees you through. And anyway, big spenders can find the same big malls in Singapore, Macau, Shanghai and all have something Thailand doesn't, cleanliness. It's all very well having the expensive malls and hotels but they won't work if the big spenders have to risk life and limb on the roads or traipse through rubbish on the streets. -
Traffic police near me can't even enforce the rules on their own staff. Saw 2 traffic cops on their way to work this morning with their Desert cam SS caps on instead of helmets. Got to work and watched the traffic cop who was on duty at the school crossing having a joke with motorcyclists who were helmetless, well, one had a helmet...it was hanging from his handlebars.

Of course it isn't. By classifying it as a "Communicable disease under observation" he can justify keeping the emergency powers in place and exerting control over the population. Make it endemic and the emergency powers would have to go and that can never be allowed! -

Maybe that's TAT's plan, bring in the high rollers and tax them on everything they're wearing or carrying. Mind you, it's not unique to Thailand, I've been done by customs in the UK travelling back from Central America with T-shirts and Chinos, all over 6 months old and still in the dry cleaning wrappers. They demanded I pay duty on everything, even down to the painted coconut I was presented with as a leaving gift! The only new thing I had that might have been liable for duty was my watch but they missed that. In the end I had to pay 200 quid (this was back in the 80's) so I paid by cheque, went through to arrivals, found a phone and reported my cheque book and Access card stolen so they never got a penny.

Really? He's in handcuff, on the ground. Procedure SHOULD be to transport them back to the station and question them about where the gun came from. Dishing out a kicking to some prone youths is not doing the police any favours on several levels: 1. It's bad press in a country desperate to get visitors to come here. 2. It does little to improve the reputation for honesty and above reproach behaviour for an already beleagured police force. 3. It makes people who genuinely need assistance far more wary about requesting it from the police which could lead to much worse treatment being meted out on youngsters by the many gangs roaming the place. 4. It sends a message to the youth gangs, if the police get you and you have a gun, use it on them or you'll get a kicking.

Very misleading headline. They don't want to know what expats don't like, they want to know what they appreciate and how much. Perhaps better if you rephrased the questions to match the headline, e.g.: Visa and immigration - 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 p'd off beyond measure happy

She knew the gun was loaded because she says she picked the round up off the floor. The Questions that need answering are: 1. Why did she load it into the gun. 2. What the hell was the instructor doing that he didn't see her load the gun. 3. Why was she even handling the gun if she hadn't yet learned not to point it at anything she didn't plan to kill. I've been to that range and it's not a big range, so somebody must have seen her load it and aim at the guy.

Amazing how his rank keeps popping up, considering he retired from the military. Okay, so he still lives in a General's house on a military camp and the press refer to him as General Chan-a Cha regularly, but he's not military any more.....honestly he's not. ???? ????
