There is a thread on "the new Skytrain" and AFAIR dates have been postponed to 2024 (or was it 2042?)
As I said, the last report I saw (in a national newspaper, to be fair...) said free public trials to start in December 2022. 2042 sounds entirely plausible if not optimistic. What a waste of resources, as usual.

So whilst you may see stations near you looking complete it doesn't mean the entire line is finished.
I can't wait for it to be opened and applaud the extensive investment in electric commuter lines throughout the city. I just think it is criminal that there is no common ticketing system.Yeah, from Samrong to On Nut looks both complete and forlorn, and that's the bit I need!
Agree entirely about ticketing - HKG's Octopus is the daddy of all the systems, but every other big city has it and it's a disgrace BKK can't (read "won't") get its act together.

One of the greatest TiT frustrations is the way projects never seem to get completed around BKK. The new train station at Bang Sue is one example – a vast, wasteful new “hub” yet the old Hua Lampong is still operating.
Of course these projects serve their purpose, which is to make money for those constructing them, so one can see them as 'complete' in that sense. But I wonder if anyone has useful info regarding any alleged progress on two projects in particular:
1. Yellow Line monorail: infrastructure complete, trials were promised for last December, but nothing happening. It's built and ready, there is rolling stock, but nothing running. Anyone know when?
2. new road overpass at Klong Toei: at least three years now and it's nowhere near ready – traffic on the ground is back to nightmarish. Again, anyone know when or even if it might ever be finished?

Some carriers are better than others depending on the location.
We have a special deal with them where you can get a ESIM for only 180THB.
You can try this link: https://esimcard.in.th - use promo code THAI VISA CENTRE for the 100THB discount. As others have said, dtac is worse than others and your quoted esim deal doesn't work. Get your inaccurate ads off this forum.

you could try BPS on Suk 39, 02 160 0333. Not the cheapest physios but a couple of sessions there will still be cheaper than the 8000 for an MRI which they might make unnecessary.
I have found that persistent long-term rc cuff pain has been solved by simple regular specific exercises that I do (almost!) every day. Both sides have been painfree for ages now.

OP didn't mention any special reason for coming to LoS. How about Malaysia, with the MM2H programme - for a small fraction of the 500,000 baht Elite charges?

Or if you can be bothered you could look up the page on the RTC website.........

Plenty of threads on this already. See for example

It's just arbitrary xenophobia.
Everything is opaque here to allow maximization of scams and corruption.
and that's just arbitrary paranoia. You don't like it, go somewhere else, as others have said. Why should you get special treatment?

A visa issued by a embassy or consulate remains valid since it is not tied to you being married like an extension of stay is.
with respect, Joe, such a visa often (like mine) has the name of the wife written in by the consulate issuing. Is it not possible (rightly or otherwise) that an amphoe could simply 'cancel' the visa on the divorce completion?

HI Denim, thanks for reply, unfortunately ticket already bought, and if it wasn't the site requires the ticket, so almost have to get ticket before you apply.
I really don't want to have to do a run to Cambodia, to cover the overstay, I also don't want me to be logged on some computer as an " overstayer" because these days, that sort of info ( now computers are making the decisions more ) can mess things up in the future.
A Kafkaesque nightmare
Ever actually read any Kafka? Toughen up. Do a day-trip to Singapore or somewhere during your trip.

The matter at hand is also the permitted permission of stay on entry, which is relevant to the expiry date of any valid Insurance.
Therefore even with a Non O-A and an acceptable 6 month medical Insurance policy, your permitted length of stay would be limited to just that …… 6 months.
and with any valid insurance, there's the tiny issue of aligning its renewal date with the renewal/replacement of the visa...............

The policy only covering Thailand is a big negative as well, as I see it
My policy is on the list of Thai companies but includes travel cover (up to 3 months).
Related issue - what's the deal with people on work permits in LoS? Surely they need insurance, so how is that regulated? And could the same regulation (must be ok as you never hear wp-holders squealing like O-A holders at present) be adapted for other visa categories?

I'm here on travel insurance too, which is valid for 6 months, then I can go back to Australia and come back to Thailand and the 6 months period starts again. I have unlimited medical coverage. The insurance policy does not require any specific type of visa to be valid. I've read the insurance policy very carefully and asked the insurers a few questions as well.
One can get also worldwide 1 year travel insurance from World Nomads for around 1K AUD.
Any of the offered O-A visa insurance policies would give me way less coverage.
World Nomads has an age 65 cut-off.

Reporting on visa run – Saigon is still an excellent option. 'Queue' of five people for both application and collection; process for Non-Imm O (multiple still available) took a minute. Couple of hopefully helpful observations:
1. paying with USD: make sure they are REALLY clean and crispy. They can be extremely fussy, rejecting one note for a blemish I couldn't even see. So make sure the ink is dry…….
2. the note from the wife, required only in Saigon, may be typed instead of handwritten – it's not clear from the web page.
3. if you are entering VN without visa – UK and some other passports – you WILL need printed proof of outward flight, my man didn't like the electronic version.
4. if you like to stay near the consulate and can run to B1100/night, I can strongly recommend a hotel four minutes' walk away: the HoangLan [I have no connections] is small, friendly, very well fitted out in European style and 50m down a wee cul-de-sac, so it's also relatively peaceful. It's 1.5km from District 1, but still with plenty of good grazing options within a short stroll. Get a room with balcony.
Finally, to my great surprise/relief, Suvarnabumi at 7pm on a Friday was DESERTED! Less than 30min from touchdown to taxi is a personal best and that includes two go's at the fingerprint lottery. Maybe there is hope after all……...

Could you confirm it's next day collection? Consulate website says
4. PROCESSING TIME / THỜI GIAN XỬ LÍ HỒ SƠTwo working days / 2 ngày làm việcbut of course that may be the same thing (Tuesday plus Wednesday = 2 days)?

That site still mentions the standard visa on arrival.
The e visa mentioned appears to be for those than cannot get a VOA or want a longer stay visa.

It must be a fable since I don't recall seeing anything about it in writing in the news or elsewhere.
It may well be fiction, but there are a number of sites referring to it (eg: https://www.laosevisa.com/). My question was partly because I don't trust them!

Talking of Savannakhet, has anyone any info on the fabled "e-visa" (to Laos) system that was due to go online in 2017, then 2018, and most recently "in June 2019"? Any sightings?
And to those suggesting Wednesday is now the best day, is this because Tuesday is filled with the bus-trippers from Monday getting their passports back?
I really don't understand the poster/s who suggest a Thai wife is a liability at the Lao border - on previous trips it's one of the few places mine has been of use!

Very interesting thread! Thanks to those who have reported experience in HCMC. It's a year or more since it started, so I wonder if anyone has yet experienced the annual renewal of such a visa obtained in HCMC? Is it treated the same as others? Do you have to return to HCMC (not a hardship!) to renew?
Also, how about Savannakhet? I went there several times in the days before the Non-Imm rules changed and it was very laid-back - anyone done/doing the marriage visa there recently? And is the procedure the same as HCMC?
Looks like Argentina is planning to take Islas Malvinas, (Falkland Islands) back.
