Who knows if: 1. She really intended to suicide afterwards, or 2. If the prior abuse (now long ended) was so bad to justify this long-after-the-event revenge/pay-back, or 3. If the guy had really dared her to come over and bring it on ... ... just sounds like they could be a bunch of hastily made-up excuses to garner pity or absolve responsibility. Looks like a planned murder - and this country still has the death penalty. A sad case. RIP to the victim.

Proposal to extend Thailand tourist visas and visa on arrival to 45 days
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Oh dear ... so much contemplation, worry and mulling over such a simple thing. Just do it, and put your energy into something else. -
I wish they would publish where these jobs are ... I'm sick of hearing "I can't find work" - but as a foreigner - ignorant as to how things work here - I don't know what suggestions to make.

Sattahip fire could have been avoided for an extra ฿200 a panel

1. Wow, a bit of background checking and investigative journalism here! - well done. 2. Wouldn't need soundproffing at all for it's approved restaurant purpose. Seems like the well-trodden pathway here is: get approval for A, and then just do B. -
I post this in the Pattaya forum as I need to know where to go, as well as what to buy. I want to give someone a basic, workable (prefer new) phone (while they save up to buy their dream phone). Budget is up to B1,500 (if such a thing exists). 1. Cheapest (new) one I found at Tukcom was B1,700 "apro" brand (described as "from Thai"). Is that any good? (Only reviews I found - Youtube - were in Thai only.) 2. Saw B500 and B900 phones in 7-11 - but my understanding with those was (is this right?): you MUST sign up for an ongoing monthly plan (with True), which is an expense I do not want. What's the deal with those 7-11 phones? 3. I have neither the skills to buy online, nor the knowledge to properly assess second-hand phones. Many thanks for any tips.

Soi Dog Foundation calls for an end to the Asian dog meat trade
law ling replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It's not my position to tell others what not to eat (provided it's processed humanely) - unless I was willing to provide a substitute. But the Foundation's folk must keep a large and very visible supply of dogs roaming the sois, to justify their donations, and thereby continue their great visas, attractive stipends, vehicles, maybe even accommodation and other nice conditions and benefits - for all their "volunteers" ... who knows ... as they say: follow the money. -

This has come at an awkward time: the much-needed submarines and jets haven't been delivered yet. -
3.3 million foreigners traveled to Thailand since January 2022: report

Indeed. Or if they were "day-traders", the same person may have been counted a hundred times. Also, transit passengers and airline crew may have been counted as "foreigners entering". -
3 weeks or 5 years – how much longer can Prayut legally stay in power?
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
1. Confusion so often reigns here - the issue has been alive for a long time, and should have been put to the court well before now (ditto re his failure to properly take his oath of office). 2. Is the time-limiting law in the constitution he himself drafted? - he must be kicking himself over such a blunder. -
So, Nok Air's "best practice" is to keep passengers locked up - without lights or air - until WHAT happens? - They already knew the portable stairs couldn't be deployed, due to the ground conditions, and - They couldn't be 100% certain there was no leaking jet fuel. What was Nok Air hoping could or might happen during that hour wait ? ... before they broke their own best practice and let their passengers off (who were now complaining they couldn't beathe).

Thailand’s dangerous road status confirmed – again!
law ling replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unlike other jurisdictions, Thailand's scores are possibly pushed up with so many under-age riders here. -

Stepfather allegedly shot dead his 36-year-old son over noise dispute

1. Barber B120 (Pattaya) is cheap enough - but I do envy upcountry towns where it's B50. 2. Have cut my own often: first when I lived in a third world country that I think didn't even have barbers; and second when I lived in a non-English-speaking first world country where it was just too problematic without knowing the local language.
