I returned to Thailand 2 months ago and I was trying to download the TM30 proof PDF from the TM30 website for an upcoming visa renewel, but I couldn't find a way. Looking at previous posts, it seems that this is not possible and you need to download this document within 7 days of filing it.
It seems now that I must file again, even though I haven't left the country. Does anybody know if this is OK, or will immigration find it strange/suspicious that I filed without leaving the country?

A major part of the problem is Thai people totally lack common sense or any sense of safety.
It’s pretty sad to read nonsense like this again and again on an expat forum.
Wherever you go in the world, you’ll find plenty of smart people and plenty of people acting stupidly too… and that includes Thailand and wherever you are from.

I’m genuinely surprised that you consider this an over-reaction. The banning of flights and closing of borders has been extremely limited. The majority of countries have targeted specific locations while they work out the severity of the newly identified strain. This seems like common sense to me. There already seems some evidence that this strain is more transimissable and more resistant to vaccines. If this is confirmed and it is also found to cause more severe covid then this is going to be a huge problem.

Florida which has probably the most lax rules on covid protocols has recently posted the lowest rate of new infections and that is despite having a very elderly population. You’re misinformed here. Florida changed the way that it counted positive tests so they’re counted from the day of the test, not the day of the positive result. Presumably they did this so people are fooled (like you seem to be) when they look at the daily figures.
Fine to disagree with Thailand’s Covid measures but anybody who doesn’t see the logic in them is either grandstanding or just dumb.

I would go further and say they are unnecessarily endangereing the health of the children they are supposed to be nurturing and protecting. Why is that not criminal?
Yes, I was trying to show the stupidity of the ‘but there are two valid sides’ argument. That there are plenty of things that significant numbers of people seem to believe that should be disqualifying if you want to be a teacher. As you point out, there are potentially grave practical consequences if schools and governments are not firm with this.

When it comes to alcohol the situation is still utterly unclear.
About as cloudy as a Pernod and water.
The Thai media interpreted the PM's announcement that alcohol would be allowed in restaurants from December 1st.
But that pubs, bars and nightclubs would only be allowed to reopen.
It wasn't stated that the blanket alcohol ban would be lifted for all establishments.
If Aseannow readers are not sure of the situation, I don’t think the above 5 paragraphs will help the matter. If you’re going to be critical of others for poor communication, check your own work before you publish.

The cops probably got Sathien's phone which might show a close link with Lakh in the photoa and LINE messages. Amarin TV showed a selfie of the two of them with Sathien's arm draped around her neck. Of course it could have just a friendly pose but did look more than that.
Yep… and a photo like that at the very least would show that her statement that she didn’t know him at all was false.

What's extensive? Weekly? Biweekly? Monthly? I'd expect any time a student or teacher excludes themselves from school over covid that could very well warrant random test.
I've no idea honestly, just being paranoid because the penalty is so great. I think it will depend on a number of factors.
It's very possible that poor schools only test students as necessary but you can bet they'll still send the teachers off for test if there's even remote possibility you've become infected. The last thing a school wants is super spreader teacher lol
1 importance, wealth of school private or public. Power of PTA.
2 volume of students returning.
3 if teachers and or students tested positive.
4 regional or national mandates.
5 as prathom students can't be given the vax maybe these schools would test more.
** ability of admin to make money off testing.
Just to borrow more trouble I bet we all have to have b3500 PCR tests before we either get WP or contract or both.
I wouldn’t say this has no chance of happening at all but I do think you are piling worst case scenario on worst case scenario.
I think schools will do very little testing… and it will become normal for people with mild symptoms to isolate at home… and private hospitals will not be forced upon teachers who clearly won’t be able to afford really high hospital bills.
but maybe I am an optimist!

Hi
I'm curious if any of you have considered what may occur if a teacher (you) test positive by an outside testing group while at school. My understanding remains that all foreigners are to be sent to private hospitals €£$ which you will be out of pocket for. Poor insurance, double pricing the bill could be substantial. How many of you have 250-600k put away to blow on a hospital stay? I'm seriously thinking of stopping teaching altogether. Have any of your schools laid this out in black and white? I don't think there will be any slipping out the side door as the school will no longer let you teach and the testing group will want to report you. Even if you get home will you be allowed to stay? More than a bit concerned. Thanks.
What makes you think they will have extensive testing at schools? In Thailand the numbers tested are really low, I think that will continue. I think schools will expect teachers to be vaccinated but there will only be testing if there is a major confirmed outbreak at the school.

The police may never be able to find out exactly what happened on that night. There is only one living witness and if his testimony is suspect then it will be difficult.
The police may never find that money, it could be difficult trace a smallish amount of cash like that and there are many ways he could have spent it.
The police should be able to establish if the wife knew the dead man better that her statement suggests. Unless they were exceptionally careful, there will be witnesses who saw them together and phone records.
Once there is more information about that, the story will fall into place.

I do not think for one minute that the fault is human error , not all of them could be at fault for " not updating the latest visa extension in the 90 day reporting system ". They have either been instructed not to or there is a malfunction in the computers .
Yes, you are right and I didn’t word my explanation clearly enough. It seems likely to me that they have separate databases with visa information and 90 day information and that somehow (most likely computer issues) the two systems have stopped getting updates from each other.

Today (Saturday) I went to MTT to do my 90 day report in person.
am not sure if it is busier on other days, but there were no people in the queue and the only other people I saw were immigration staff and taxi drivers. Took 10 minutes, in and out.
I asked about the online system and why it didn’t work for me this time and it’s related to them not updating my latest visa extension in the 90 day reporting system. They were very polite and apologetic but didn’t know when it would be fixed.

To be fair, earlier in the pandemic the UK were changing the designation of countries in their traffic light system with just a few days notice. This led to people cutting short trips and the ludicrous situation of someone arriving back in the country at 11 pm being OK but those arriving at 1 am the next day having to quarantine.
In my opinion, the English Thai news and this forum don’t do a good job of distinguishing between government proposals and government decisions. Opening in November seems to be a proposal.

...the family's allegation that 290,000 baht went missing weren't just made up out of thin air and the police had to obtain a probable cause search warrant before conducting the search. The deceased guy did in fact sell one rai of land for 290,000 to a couple in the village back in mid-September. They paid 40,000 as a down payment at the time of the sale, and the balance of 250,000 was paid on October 1rst, the day before he died. This has been documented by the couple who purchased the land, who have not only provided the police with signed copies of the sale contract, but even had photos documenting the payment of the money to the deceased. His carrying a gun at the time of the incident could at least in part be explained that it was for protection because he was carrying a large sum of money on his person at the time.
There is a shroud of mystery over these events which the police are trying to unravel. Was the intruder there to murder the husband, rob the husband, or there for a late night booty call and inadvertently encountered the husband having a late night cup of coffee? Was he there at the invitation of the Swiss guy's wife?
The police are also grappling with some inconsistencies between the physical evidence at the scene and Rudolph's account of what happened. Specifically, they are questioning why Rudolph had almost no injuries from the altercation while the intruder sustained substantial injuries to both his head and torso, why there were no signs of a struggle or damage to anything in the kitchen, and why Rudolph didn't use the intruder's gun to subdue him once he had gotten it away from him. There may also be issues about whether any of the injuries were sustained after the intruder was no longer a threat. What the wife's relationship with the intruder was, what contact she had with him in the days leading up to the incident, or if she played any role during or after the incident also need to be investigated.
In my opinion, this high profile case is extremely complex, and with the death of the intruder, it will probably be even more difficult to solve. I don't envy the police their job. The police appear to be proceeding in a methodical and thorough manner, and I think the peanut gallery potshots about the job they have done so far have very little merit.
Surely by writing in such a rational manner about the complexity of the case you are in violation of the spirit of this forum?
The ‘peanut gallery’ have two of their favourite targets in sight: the morality of Thai women and the incorruptibility and ability (or lack thereof) of the Thai police. Allow them their fun!

Same with me. Have been doing it online for years without a problem and now this. If I use the app, it says I am on overstay (although I’m not) so with the app at least you get the probable reason it won’t work.

As someone who often looks at Thai expat forums, I’ve read a lot of nonsensical gibberish but this one might be the most ridiculous.
You should realise that just because you are (seemingly) often swayed by people using a word salad of relevant vocabulary in an utterly random way, people with a modicum of understanding of the topic can usually see right through the BS.

What do you truly know about the process of testing vaccines? Do you know how many stages the testing process has and why? Do you know how many people were involved in each stage? Have you looked at the results? Have you carried out a detailed comparison with vaccines developed previously?
almost certainly not, you are just repeating buzzwords that you’ve heard.
the word ‘experimental’ is utterly meaningless in the way you use it.

Sofascore - Banned Website?
in IT and Computers
I have been using the website sofascore to get football results and other sports results for a while. There are similar websites, but I quite like the format of this one.
A few months ago, it became impossible to access the website from my home or on my phone - I get a 'Server not found' message. I am with AIS. I assumed that the website had been banned in Thailand for some reason, perhaps because it sometimes has adverts for gambling websites. This surprised me a lot because it's quite a popular website and seemed completely legitimate to me (it just shows live scores and stats, no links to dodgy streams). The sofascore app seems to continue to work without problems.
Then, a few days ago, I was on my office WIFI (no idea who that's through) and clicked on sofascore and it worked without any problems. Then checked at home on AIS and still seems to be banned.
Can anyone explain what is going on? Would AIS stop access to some websites that were not banned in Thailand as a whole? I am really confused by this!
Can anyone check (AIS or otherwise) if you can access this website?
