I just returned to USA for this vaccine , walked in Free next one in a month

I t isn't free really. You have to pay for airfare, arrange a place to stay for a month, miss at least 1 months work if you are not retired and pay for quarantine on return to Thailand.

So maybe you have frequent flier miles, a house or relative, retired... but it still costs.

  2. For me the biggest change as I have gotten older is my risk aversion. When I was young I would try anything... Now when I watch people doing risky things or see them online I just cringe.

Jump out of a plane, helicopter, balloon, or bridge with a parachute - no problem

Ski off-piste, jump a motocross bike off a huge hill - no problem

run my car/bike on the highways at 175mph - no problem,

Now I realize how incredibly dangerous those activities are and cringe when I see others doing them.

Sex is still fine, but all the other stupid things I have always  thought normal I see now are not normal, safe or smart...

in the old days an escort xr3i, would have got through a set as quick, its a sports car so expect the tyre wear, a new set is called for very soon and a lump of wood under the gas pedal, that should make then last longer

I worked at a tire shop in the 80's and these younger guys would bring in their high end ford escorts, one tire was the donut and the other was showing cords. When I explained they took very expensive tires, no optional cheap ones, they would just hang their head and leave. They had no idea how much their fun had cost them.

I will take this as a challenge. I'm now getting close to 100,000km in Thailand riding daily various bikes from 110 to 1000cc and not a single traffic accident, including daily commutes in Bangkok and many trips around the country. I know some older guys here who make my mileage look minuscule - it can be definitely done.

My riding motto for riding in Thailand is "aggressive-defensive" which is far from "slow and steady". Key principles as follows:

    • Always riding ahead and slightly faster than other traffic (excluding some complete lunatics)
    • Either accelerating or braking (avoid coasting)
    • Extermely alert, expecting the unexpected and ready on the brakes
    • Never hesitate and be dominant, make your intentions clear to others (e.g. own your lane, rev the engine, use the horn etc.)
    • Use power to accelerate out of danger
    • Practice riding as fast & crazy as possible in a safe environment as often as you can - these skills will help in real life danger situations

My recommendations would be to get a bike with decent power (i.e. 150cc+ for town, 400cc+ for highway), ABS brakes and take as many riding courses as you can. It's amazing what you can still learn after a decade of riding from a professional instructor and how skills learned on track help you in real life situations.

Agree completely. I have more than 100k km in the US and Canada on a superbike, and 15 years here on scooters and used that technique. Only ever gotten a bruise or two on road bikes.

A bicycle accident nearly killed me as a teen and a motocross accident in my 30s nearly killed me, but using the above advice on the street has prevented any real problems other than bumps.

  5. I had mine done a couple years ago at BPH, just went in and scheduled it. It was around 20k baht if I remember correctly. Only problem I had was crippling pain for a few weeks. Had to hobble back in after a week and get morphine for it. The pain went away and all good now.

Try to check in BIOS, if you got an option "Wake on LAN" enabled. Possibly some event on your Network might cause this. Otherwise it might be a good idea to unplug the machine or throw the power switch on the power supply to off AFTER the power light went off. Good luck.

This seems the most likely to me. Bios setting have "Wake On ..." options that can easily cause this behavior.

  7. I took out a loan for my house and my car, not because I need to but the time value of money says I will pay off those loans with money that is worth less. If I lost my job tomorrow I have resources to pay both off immediately, but I would rather leave the money in the market to appreciate.

I have a high limit card as well, but I pay it off every month and rack up huge points for travel.

Credit has it's uses, but also it's temptations to overuse it.

  8. I have a Carbon x1 6th gen and a 34" wide screen for work, for gaming I have an ASUS ROG G752VS with phase interchange cooling (read liquid cooled) laptop and a 43" monitor that I can use with my CCTV in PIP in the corner.

Add in a big office with lots of windows and dual fibre connections, I rarely leave.

Joe Bonamassa is a blues guitarist who has been in the industry since he opened for B.B. King when he was just 12 years old. He trained with guitar legend Danny Gatton. Bonamassa is known for his extensive vintage guitar and amplifier collection, especially the Les Paul “bursts.”

I was waiting for Joe, he has spent a lifetime making that guitar sing.

    policeman's ball.????

    regards Worgeordie

Actually I have CCTV and I have seen burglars twice in the last 7 years on it. They turn down my street, look in my yard, look at the red box and move down and steal a bicycle from the neighbors yard. They really don't like the red box.

  11. My company replaces employee laptops every 3 years. Usually my Lenovo Carbon X1 is showing sighs of trouble by then.

I usually replace my gaming laptops every 5 years. My current gaming laptop (as opposed to my wife and kids gaming rigs) is 6 years old but still plays new games, at 110k baht it was very high spec when I got it though. We will see when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out if I have to replace it as well. I run all my machines 24/7 with cooling pads under them and they are all still working when I replace them, but the games outpace the hardware pretty quickly.

  12. My teeth are fine, but if I believed I would have lived to 30 I would have engaged in far less risky activities. 32 broken bones including C3,4 and 5, in one accident (including a ruptured cervical disk, a skull fracture, epilepsy and a shattered wrist) and T3,4,5,6 and 8 in another have slowed me down so much at 57 I regret it every day.

Thank the gods for computers or I would have nothing to do every day.

Quick question: I am a Ranger fanboy but what on earth is that stick-on, plastic thingmabob on the bonnet/hood for? A cheese grater? I see them added on most PX2 Rangers these days. Even saw a numpty who stuck one on his genuine Ranger Raptor.

    Please don't say aesthetics.

LOL - you got it right. It  is a stickon thingie. I got it because my wife wanted it and the dealer offered it free. I think it is pretty stupid too, but it wasn't worth the fight with the wifie.

The things I got as part of the "X" package that mattered were the steel pushbar, wheels that are spaced wider to fit in the fender flares better and the aluminum tonneau cover.
