Sadly the Friendship shop close to Walking Street has closed down and been cleared out completely. I use Friendship a lot, enjoy the selection of goods, though I do agree that the staff, especially the cashiers are quite unfriendly.

I usually do my own cleaning but have back pain now. I have tried four or five companies from Google search and no response. Can anyone recommend a company they know in Pattaya that is open for business now?

Same here, 62 and diabetic with other underlying conditions but no access to a vaccine in Pattaya at all. The reports about the Moderna vaccine are chaotic but show reducing amounts from originally 10 million to arrive in October, down to 5 million and now 3.9 million maybe in October.........anyone's guess how many will arrive and when, or if. Scaring me into keeping to myself but can I keep that up for the next four to six months?

I don't suppose the Embassy officials are paying any attention to this discussion, but if they are I would appreciate it if they would be clear that the situation for the vast majority of UK expats in Thailand having no access to the vaccine programme is serious. I am one of those, 62 years old, worked as a Registered Nurse in the NHS and then the Hospice movement, lived in Thailand now for almost ten years. I have diabetes and other underlying conditions which place me in the high risk category. As the new wave of infections and deaths continues to rise I am isolating from my friends, and it looks like that will be my situation for many months to come. I have registered with the hospital in Pattaya where I have my diabetes support but as the information about the diminishing amounts of the Moderna vaccine get worse almost every day I am becoming more and more depressed and concerned. If I could afford it I would fly back to the UK to obtain the vaccine, but on my little NHS pension that is not an option. Please put whatever pressure you can on the Thai government to provide access to a vaccine for expats at risk like myself. I have no objection to paying for it at all. Please support us in whatever way you can.

So now we hear that the hoped for 10 million doses of Moderna which might have arrived in October sometime will now be 5 million if we are lucky. Sigh. Yes I would take any vaccine I could get, but in Pattaya there is no access to anything for the "smelly farang".

I am having increasing numbness and discomfort in the toes of both feet. My blood sugar levels are well controlled. My lovely doctor at the International Hospital in Pattaya tells me there isn't a neurologist in Pattaya and says I should go to Bangkok. Any idea as to which hospital I should head for?

Just tried again to register on ThailandIntervac site, this is the fifth day of trying for me. First time all five of the required fields in the address refused to open, finally on day four of trying four of the five did open but the last one "Select sub-district" refuses to open, and today the same again. Clearly this fake website is designed to block the "smelly farang" from getting anywhere near a vaccine. I have diabetes, high blood pressure (rocketing now!) and other issues and over 60 but who cares?

Tried to register on ThailandIntervac site yesterday and five required fields were inoperative. Tried again just now and four of them worked but the last one, sub-district, was again not working. Seriously frustrating, to put it mildly.

I just tried to register on the ThailandIntervac site. Four required fields were non-functioning, Nationality, Province, District and Sub-district. Each one when I clicked to access the list of choices failed to respond. When I checked out and tried again I was refused access with a message saying my email address was already used!
Anything else I can do?

I did my monthly transfer of my little NHS pension from my Nationwide account in the UK to my Thai bank a little before 8am this morning and the transfer took less than one minute! Amazing! Rate was 44.17 Baht to the pound.

Does anyone understand why so many landowners are cutting down most or all of the trees to avoid some kind of land tax? What is this tax? Maybe the General could change the law to stop this harmful destruction of trees that I have seen is so many areas of Pattaya in recent years.

Hello lelapin, may I ask, did you get Nationwide to send you the card direct to Thailand?

I seem to have an ingrowing toenail in my big toe. Twice now my regular lady doing my pedicure has managed to dig it out, but this time it is still a bit painful. Is there a good hospital clinic in Pattaya that I should go to?
-
I live in Pattaya and travel to Bangkok every six months to see a wonderful doctor at the Red Cross Clinic, have my blood test results for CD4 and Viral Load with me, and receive my two medications for the next six months, at a total cost of 4,480 Baht. Excellent clinic and lovely staff.

Yes I have tried Fascino in Pattaya, and they don't have any Tetracycline. I shall hope for a better chance in Bangkok. Thank you for your help.

I am in Pattaya, and heading to Bangkok on 12th for four nights. I go every six months and always go to a good cheap pharmacy there called S C Pharmacy so I am hoping they will have stock of Tetracycline, but I will run out a few days before that.

Thank you for your reply Sheryl.
When I first moved to live in Thailand nine years ago I had been on Monocycline for several years, but of course could not find it in Thailand. I tried the Doxycycline but found that it actually increased my susceptibility to sun burn, so much so that even just walking down the road, complete with hat, my chin, nose and cheeks would burn. Then I moved on to Tetracycline and the sun burn stopped and all has been good for the succeeding years. It is a mystery to me why the stock of Tetracycline have suddenly disappeared, and just wondering if there is a problem with supply.
-
I take Tetracycline daily to prevent or mitigate staphylococcal skin abscesses, but in the past few days I have tried more than eight pharmacies and there is no stock to be found. Anyone know if there is a problem with supplies?
I usually get the one called Ganospec in a yellow box.

I finally got up the courage to ask if I could get a credit card from the bank I have used for the past nine years and received the answer "farang cannot".
Does anyone now what this is about? Is this policy the same in all Thai banks?

Really not much to worry about. Last year in October I managed to complete my annual renewal of my retirement visa and then completely forgot my 90 days for five weeks! I shot down to Immigration in Jomtien, here in Pattaya, sweating and shaking. The lovely lady who normally handles this was laughing at me as I must have looked terrified, pointed to mr grumpy next to her and said "Overstay". Mr Grumpy was laughing at me too as I must have looked really silly, said 2,000 Baht fine (five weeks late, remember). I handed that over and started to calm down, as Mr Grumpy was doing the paperwork, then he looked up at me and asked "You want receipt?", and I was about to say yes when i caught lovely lady's eye and she shook her head slightly at me and I quickly replied "On no!" and Mr Grumpy grinned widely at me.
Don't panic Mr Mannering! You willl be fine!

I don't use Facebook and cannot see how to make a donation to the Pattaya FoodBank Programme. Anyone who can tell me how to make a donation from my ttb bank account?
