Why aren't the whingers and moaners about the LITUK test complaining about this increase in age regulation? Oh, I forgot, you are all too selfish bleating about your problem and as your wife/partner is presumably over 21, you don't care about this or any new regulation that does not affect you.

PhilHarries, first of all, congratulations on your promotion to moderator. As far as I am aware, it is the 'Pattaya Forum' and not the 'Pattaya Lovers Only Forum'. Some people like the place whilst others don't. The ones who do not like the place are as much entitled to post their views as the ones who do.

How do you tell the directions of the compass using a digital watch?
Look at the time on your digital watch, now imagine the position of the hands on an anologue watch superimposed on your digital and proceed as if it were analogue.
-
You can use an ordinary watch (anologue or digital) as a compass

I went to an Indian restaurant the other day and asked for Chicken Tikka. The waiter told me "We only serve Chicken Tarka. It's similar to Chicken Tikka, but it's a little 'otter."
Tarka and Tikka sound similar; Tarka was an otter. Chicken Tarka is a little 'otter (hotter) than chicken Tikka.

Libya, you say "Pattaya is fun" then why do you just post news clippings about murder, suicide and other depressing subjects?

Rimmer wants a thread-killer for "these clowns that keep bad mouthing our town". begsaresponse wants a "Patters Basher site" Why? This is a public forum and not a dictatorship.

In and on are also used with means of transportation: in is used with a car, on with public or commercial means of transportation:
in the car
on the bus
on the plane
on the train
on the ship
Some speakers of English make a further distinction for public modes of transportation, using in when the carrier is stationary and on when it is in motion.
My wife stayed in/on the bus while I got out at the rest stop.
The passengers sat in/on the plane awaiting takeoff.

jeebusjones - if the taxi driver in your post acted like an ar5ehole, does that mean that you have to?
-
Pattaya is OK, it's the people who are not!

leicester, you must be one of these 'tourists' that the Thai are trying to discourage from staying here. The taxi driver is within his rights to refuse a fare, learn to live with it. Please go back to your Leicester council house where you can wear your Burberry cap and your hoody and drive round in your Vauxhall Nova.

The first shop that macanello mentions is at Lat Phrao 41 traffic lights.
If you need something big, try Yo at the Bike Doctor near Chok Chai 4 Soi 14

Vera Lynn always reminds me of coming home from school on Monday Mum doing all the washing by hand, clothes drying all over the house and in earlier memories - the whole house festooned with terry nappies and Mum singing Vera Lynn songs at the top of her voice.

Mr Helicoptor - good: Mrs Helicoptor - bad. Over 200 replies after hearing one side of the story and you come to that conclusion?
Helicoptor, I take it that you are an adult then sort your problem out by yourself. Ever heard the saying about washing your dirty linen in public?
To others posters, how many of you know Helicoptor or his wife? How can you make a judgement?

If Phitsanulok is ever charged and fined/jailed over the overstay, will the posters who advised him that it is trivial stand by him and share his fine/jail time? Just because you or your friends have not gone to court over this does not mean that Phitsanulok will get away with it.

An old story but I think this one comes with an interesting twist! It looks like a very clever advertising ploy - "I won't name the bar but pm me for details." You live in the area, your idle curiosity makes you pm for details. You visit the bar to see this awful woman who has ripped off the farang and you stay for a beer or three! A few days later, you are thinking "What's happening at the 'PM me for details' bar, another beer or three and this place is becoming one of your regular haunts. Believable sob story + free advertising = more profits.

markr - I take it that you have taken exams sometime in your life, did you ever study for them? Since when did history become irrelevant?
sonicdragon - another know-it-all who does not need to study, if you can't get 75% then you need to study to pass the test. I am not connected with the Home Office and as such cannot impose the test on anybody.
As it stands now, a foreign spouse of a British citizen has to pass the test - there are exceptions - and there is nothing that the average person can do about it so learn to live with it.

Before anyone else comments how hard the questions are, please, study (not scan) the 'Life in the United Kingdom' handbook. Then, and only then, answer the questions and comment on the hardness of the questions.
