  1. I believe you needed to lodge an application for a Volunteer visa by the 10th of september. So that time has now passed.

I lodged my application for a Volunteer visa on 9th. Just got approved today. The 3 stamps take up 2 pages - cost THB 30k for 90 days, same same to extend for a year if required. Expensive yes, but the money was worth not having to stress about the uncertainty relating to the amnesty ending.

A few people have jumped into this thread without reading the OP. He's not interested in their general level of customer service but specifically whether they are currently extending tourist visas in the normal way.

Amen - topic is getting a little off topic.

I personally would love to hear of any successful extensions IE after granted 30 or 60 permision to stay from tourist visa - then extended it by 30 days after amnesty started.

Anybody out there that has done it besides the execellent post that stated a 30 day extension was granted by Ubon Ratchathani ?

  3. Through either good luck or good management Thailand has done a good job in managing infections to a very low number.

Have the numbers been 0 for 100 days? probably not as the non elected Thai government is not very credible.

However there is no evidence to suggest the numbers ever got up to a high number. The hospitals have never been busy, there has been no chatter on social media of big numbers. Cases have probably been like low single digits here and there but largely controlled.

Thailand has been a good place to be in 2020.

It is 99.99% certain that you would never have a problem. The only time you would (very unlikely) be in any danger is in the event of a power struggle involving one of the key officials who signed off on your visa/extension. You could then become collateral damage.

The entire post was excellent in explaining how corruption is part of Thailand and most developing countries.

I lived in Brazil for 10 years and would see a very high profile house of ill repute get shut down every couple of years for about a week or so. Then would open up again as if nothing had happened.

The locals would explain that senior officials were essentially manouvering over what share of the weekly bribe they would receive. All went well when power was in balance.

5.6 If you would like to travel on your arranged private jet flight, the information on private jet flight such as booking itineraries including flight number, date and time are to be provided to both Royal Thai Embassy / Consulate and Thailand Privilege Cards Co., Ltd. (TPC) Private jet needs permission for landing in Thailand which we will help rechecking on this issue for you.

Hahaha.. time to fire up the Jet that has been parked in the garage since March. I wonder if it will start first time.

OPEC urging Thailand to increase food exports. Am I missing something, normally they meet and haggle over each other's oil output. Thailand is not a member. Are OPEC moving into other commodities?

OPEC members tend to have dry arid climates that contain lots of oil but aren't great at producing food, so they are large net importers of grain, meat etc.

As a lot of the member countries have really sucked at controlling Covid they will produce even less food domestically which will result in the need to import substantially more. Hence the call out to any countries that they think will be able to jump in and supply any shortfall.

  7. The Thai case was a botch up from the start. Including the estimated speed he was doing. Both Bike and Car have damage consistent with a low to medium speed accident.

Any accident doing 177km will result in pretty severe damage. Even accounting for relative speed at accident the bike would have been severely damaged when it was knocked over and slid down the road. The bike had surprising little damage.

He is douche and should go to prison but the case has been a botched mess from the start - no real surprise though, we are in Thailand after all.
