I literally just came from a decent sized Bangkok lawyers office and they are saying extension through August is going to have to be made. A few were saying September too.
The reason stated was that there are just too many people stuck here to get everybody out in a month or even two if flights start opening up.

Second wave? This is still the first wave, the US is at about the second innings of a 9 innings game

At the moment there is still the option to sign a piece of paper with name and phone number when entering every place of business rather than scanning the Q code on your phone.
I have been writing all sort of BS names over BKK to this point as there is no checking. I am thinking this option will soon disappear.

Sticking an unfashionable $2 visor to a dated $3 hat ain't going viral.

So, right now in Pattaya, are massage shops open or when will they open?
There are officially no massage places open for business in Pattaya or Bangkok.
Unofficially, maybe 15% of places never closed.

Yea the temp-check thingie is bringing up the same feelings of HATE I have for Songkran.....My personal space is repeatedly being invaded with-out my consent ......Temperature gun almost same as water gun..
Not to mention how accurate it is. 34.5c to 36.5c readouts when taken just a few minutes apart

I went into Robinsons at Asoke today, played the ignorant farang card and was just waved in by the temp checker without needing to do anything much.
Likewise, went into a commercial shopping center in Pratunam and again played the dumb farang card. Likewise, was waived in without needing to sign in or QR code. I did get a purple dot sticker placed on my shirt which made me feel very special.

If you are currently infected with Covid 19 then you would most likely not be allowed to enter any country not your own.
If you test positive for Antibodies then that would not be a reason to exclude you from anywhere, would even suggest that you are somewhat protected from being infected in the future.
Austria just started accepting international visitors again. You have 3 options on arrival. Option 1 - Show medical certificate negative for covid not older than 4 days. Option 2 - Self quarantine for 14 days. Option 3 - get a covid test on the spot for $200, results in about 3 hours - if all good get a certificate issued and no need to self quarantine.
The Austrian examples seems like a reasonable way until there is a treatment or Vaccine. Would not be surprised if most countries implement something like this in June / July when travel starts to open up a bit.

Just came back from multiple 7/11s and local supermarkets in Asoke Bangkok. All have new signs up saying no alcohol until May 31.

Feel free to share that one with anybody foolish enough to contemplate a holiday in Thailand post covid. Internet has a long memory.

It is actually a good idea. Makes the standard surgical mask a little better. Still no where as good as a N95 or KN95 mask and should not be used in a Covid Hospital though

The job is being financed by my electricity bill this month which is 40% higher than last month.
Mine was 200% higher, I thought they had made a mistake and then I figured it out. Haven't left apartment in a month, hence used twice as much. ????

Agree and N95 is the basic entry level mask to protect against bacteria to a reasonable level and as you know they are not pleasant to wear for extended periods . Plus as a welder you will know that the mask has to be a sealed fit against the face with no gaps . They seem to be a rarity at the moment and even front line medics do not have them , only the type seen from the vending machine
You can buy them off the usual Chinese wesbites. I have been using the same vendor off aliexpress for a couple of years. I just paid around $3 per mask for a bunch. Pre Covid they were like $1.

How about getting rid of the obstacles for a foreigner to start a business in Thailand. IE need a Joint venture partner, need to employee 4 Thais for every foreigner work permit issued.
In a world where jobs and investment are going to be scare over the next year or two the inefficient and xenophobic ways of Thailand's past are going to really hurt their economy going forward.

The numbers coming down is good news for every one because we will be able to buy beer again soon ????

Who knows what the real numbers are, but i feel much more comfortable being in Asia than in the Sh*t Storm that is hitting Europe & the US right now

I know everyone is doubting the Government figures but there doesn't seem to be many cases in Thailand. No ambulances banked up waiting to get into hospitals, no people showing photos of severe PPE shortages on social media etc.
Bangkok right now is deserted, even Asoke in midday you will barely see 6 people. Hard to pass on covid 19 infection when there is no one around to pass it onto.

They started this work months before the country was shut down, had little to nothing to do to to Covid 19
-
Government figures around the world are always a little hard to believe, but Thailand does seem to have relatively few cases. There simply isn't overflowing hospitals, morgues or Ambulances in the streets.
Some countries have dodged a bullet with relatively few cases, most seem to be in Southern Hemisphere, hot climates or Asian countries previously hit by SARS/MERS etc so had better plans in place. Through luck or good management Thailand seems to have relatively few cases.

Surgical type masks are being encouraged to be worn to slow down the spread of Covid not to stop self infection or to help with pollution.
They do reduce the chance that someone who is possibly infected exhaling virus particles into the air and infecting someone else.
This farang is fed up with other farangs coming right up to me, right in my face without a mask and asking some question.

31st July Anmesty - extended until September?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

We were discussing something else when I mentioned that I will probably have to leave end of July. Unprompted 2 thai lawayers looked at each each other and said "be prepared to stay to September, there ain't no way they can get all of the tourists out of here by end of July"
