As a reassuring illustration as to how Thai Visas work. I have a 6 month METV that grants me a 60 day stay upon entry which just expired on the 15th of October.
I entered on the 8th of October and the IO stamped me in for 60 days - The stamp says "admitted until 6 Dec 2019". So in affect I squeezed 8 months out of a 6 month Visa.

Lets not forget that if you open a company in Thailand you can only obtain 1 work visa for an expat for every 4 thais. So you if your construction company employed 5 expats it would need to also employ 20 thais.
The reason very few foreigners actually open a company in Thailand is because the local laws are very unfavourable for doing so.

What does he dress and look like? IMHO it does matter when crossing a border.

I always thought that if you changed to a work visa the elite would be cancelled. Can't hold both at same time.

This is the second post in 2 days where a person was "almost denied" but bribed the IO to get in. In the last 6 months I read every "almost/denied entry" post and have never heard 1 poster mention any bribes. New trend or something else happening here?

You can hide a lot of the inefficiencies, nepotism, and crazy Thainess if the business is purely domestically focused. Once it is exposed to an international market all of this general mismanagement is out in the open and there is no place to hide.
If it is not restructured the loses are going to only continue until it reaches a tipping point. It can restructure now (unlikely) or completely fail and be restructured at a point where the Thai economy may or may not be in a position to do so under favourable terms.

Did you know the 'Elite Visa' is nothing of the kind. Your Visa is simply a normal TOURIST Visa that allows a 90 day entry only, with the bonus of being able to send Elite staff to go and do your 90 day report. You can confirm this at the Elite office.
So effectively once you leave Thailand and your Elite card has almost expired, you would only be able to get at least one more 90 day entry, not 1 year. I know this because I asked at the head office.
It is not uncommon to ask someone in power a question to be told totally the wrong answer.
You do in fact get a further 1 year. Multiple people have already done this.

In a modern first world country there are less laws but they are followed. In a 3rd world country there are lots and lots more laws, to the point that even people in power don't know them, but at the end of the day none of them are really followed.
Tell immigration what they want to hear. Tick the "tourism" box.

Fewer tourists--with more money = more profitable tourism.
I totally agree, however are big spending tourists ever going to choose Bangkok/Pattaya etc over say Paris, New York, Tokyo or the other 100+ sophisticated big cities around the world all vying for such dollar.
Adding to this, most modern sophisticated cities in the world actually give tourists the same legal rights as the locals. Something Thailand certainly doesn't and will probably never understand the importance of this.

Please note: If you falsely claimed you have lost a passport it is a big deal. Criminal offence in most countries. Do not do it!

If the NZ & AUD passport holders go through E-Gates, assuming it is programmed to the letter of the law, does this mean "denied entry" with a valid Tourist visa will be a thing of the past? IE remove some IO's subjective opinion based on his/her bad hair day rather than an official policy.

Avoid their 747 business class seats, they are not even at the same standard as a premium economy seat in any of the current 5 star airlines. Old and tired seats, no lay flat option.

On the arrival form there is a space to put in the Visa Number. If you don't write your visa number in there, there is a good chance that the IO will miss your visa and just give you standard 30 day.
I currently have a METV, whenever i enter I do the following.
1) Write visa number on form
2) Hand passport to IO open on the METV page
3) Check everything before leaving counter.
In developing countries you not only have to think for yourself but for the person that is supposed to be doing his/her job correctly. One of the charms of Thailand is all its craziness, however when getting anything done you need to check everything 2 times, 3 times, maybe 4 times......

The Database matches: Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth. They can see your history even if you have a new passport with a different nationality.
Add in facial recognition/Finger prints from past entries and they will probably tell you what clothes you were wearing on each of your past visits.
Yes, history will be on screen of IO in seconds

Even if you do manage to stay without being arrested there is no guarantee that you will be granted a visa to return. Any overstay by more than a few days will be looked at very carefully by the embassy/consulate. Leaving with a near 90 day overstay and then trying to do a border bounce back into the country will not be looked at favourably and there is a very high chance that your visa app will be very carefully looked at and denied. Being granted a visa in a not a right, it is a privilege.
You seem to think an overstay is not big deal, a simple book entry. It ain't and that big "overstay" stamp in your visa will draw a lot of attention to every country that you enter in the future. And don't think by simply getting another passport will clear the issue. Visa applications to a lot of countries will ask you questions like "have you ever been denied entry to a country" and "have you ever overstayed your visa in any country" - Good luck if you lie.
A visa to enter another country is not a right, it is a privilege and you have proven that you don't obey another countries laws so why would any country not be nervous in extending any privilege to you in the future?

btw did anyone ever report about getting denied flying in Business or First class?
Not sure if that has anything to do with it but i always fly in biz and first and use fast track and only once i was asked a few questions and that was it.
There was a guy who started a thread about getting denied about 4 months ago maybe. His story was flying in once per month on business class, staying 3 weeks per stay. He had apparently been doing it for few years and eventually got denied.

The chances of being rejected on your second METV is very small. Just make sure you dress professionally, have at least 20k on you per person and have genuine tourist related answers ready as to why you are basically going to spend up to a year in LOS.
I would be a little nervous but not overly so when doing a border bounce to use the second half of the 2nd METV- your cumulative stay will be getting above 9 months for 1 year. However if you do this for just 1 year the risk of being denied is still very low.
If you were to do this for 2 years in a row your risk of being denied would go up a lot to a point where i personally would not risk it but still good chance of entry.

It is interesting that they asked for a bank statement of 200k as that is the amount required for a METV in most western countries. It is normally just 20k for a SETV.

I accidentally used VFS once for a visa to India. They were totally clueless and i ended up writing off the $100 they charged and went and applied directly with the Indian visa website. My application was then approved with a few hours.
When you look at VFS on trustpilot their reviews are basically the same as what one would expect for a "scam" company.

The commonality for being denied with a "good" western passport seems to be a cumulative stay of 9 months or more for 2 or more years consecutive years. Even then your chances of being denied are probably small, but you would be understandably nervous when going through immigration.
If your cumulative stay is say 6 months per year your chances of being denied are very close to nil.
Caveat: The above assumes you have had zero issues during your stay in LOS

Surely you can't ban your own citizen from staying in your own country. You would have to think your constitutional rights would override any immigration rules.

advice to stay a little longer
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

The response from Elite is unbelievable - they have no shame. If the IO stamps you in for 1 year then you are not an overstay under any circumstances.
