The MH370 captain, I guess.

You can definitely get a SIM there and I'm 99.99% sure they must have nano-SIMs as well.
These can be bought at 7/11's so that would be a pity that they don't have them at their booth.

Isn't this really getting to what people define (and despise) as "nanny state"?
-
I buy a shiny new pair every couple of months...200 baht. That's all I wear. I'll tell you why I love them, unlike sandals or flip flops, they protect my vulnerable toes. Also the holes in front allow me to rinse the sand off, without taking them off.
The perfect combination for someone who is lazy and cheap.
....and is totally devoid of any sense of style or taste.
Not any more or less than flip flops or sandals, really.
Do you find average Joe's toes of style or taste? I certainly don't. At least they're hidden in Crocs.
I'm not into checking out guys feet, but someone wearing a pair of bright yellow or red Crocs is pretty hard to avoid.
So is anyone wearing some kind of flashy t-shirt. So what? does this offend you?

...the irony...and hypocrisy....is that hundreds of thousands come from one of the border countries.....and live...and work here....without 'standard' paperwork....
..not to mention the fortune any 'western' foreigner has to pay every year for the 'privilege' of staying here...
Tut tut, we are "guests" in this country are we not?
No, Paying customers.
You might be, but I am not.
How about paying guests? many of us here provide for someone or a whole family, and if it weren't for this we'd probably not be here anyway, let's face it.

Weird question indeed, and even weirder statement from the OP ("Il will suspend you") LOL.
Anyway, you may want to tell us what your real concern is if you want to get more useful replies. I'm trying to guess... could it be that you're about to give this computer to someone else and you're concerned about him/her doing naughty things with it that could be traced back to you?

That's not blackmailing IMHO. That's commanding or summoning and I see no reason why this wouldn't be legal even in the context of the weird Thai laws.
Blackmailing would be threatening of some physical action or defamation (as in "I'm going to tell everyone that you're a thief"). A very different thing.
I really can't see how "Pay me or I'll sue you" could be illegal.

By the way it was the government's decision, not the telco's.

Has anyone considered the idea that this list could have been fabricated?
I have no idea, really. Just a wild guess. Could come handy to get rid of a few annoying people: competitors on the food chain, people on the wrong political side, guys who've p*ssed others off, you name it.Killing two birds with one stone.
Such things happen, too.

The actual cost per minute depends on the promotion you have subscribed to and Thai operators have a real way of offering a maze of countless, ever-changing promotions.
Anyway, if you pay anything more than 1B/mn for domestic calls, you should find out a better promotion depending on your needs.
Good luck, it can be a full-time job. If you have access to a Thai under 30 yo, ask him/her. They're really good at keeping up.
AIS and DTAC (I don't use True) have half-decent web sites in English now that can help you choose among the offered promotions.

If she bought a real iPhone she has the receipt and the warranty. Surely Apple's guarantee is honoured internationally? She can sort it out with Apple when she gets home.
If you had cared reading some posts above, you'd see that it's not as obvious as it may seem.
This tends to support some horror stories I've heard from people who had tried to have their iPhones bought in Dubai serviced in Europe under warranty.

I guess it must be the outlets in the high tourist places.
I've bought several items at BananaIT in Zeer Rangsit and never had the slightest problem. Admittedly nothing as expensive as a top-of-the-line iPhone. A dead out of the box disk was replaced painlessly.
I've even had a graphics card swapped for me at their Nakhon Sawan branch that was bought at Zeer Ransgsit. No questions asked.

It was my understanding that people turn to loan sharks because they are unable to provide the assets or guarantees required by banks to obtain loans.
I am misled?

I have had numerous occasions to compare the relative delay for getting my luggage on the belt between Suwa and a few European airports and Suwa wins hands down almost every time.
I have other gripes about Suwa, but baggage delivery isn't one of them.

My world has just crumbled down around me... I wear Crocs almost exclusively when I'm in the LOS and most of my summer vacation time here in Europe.
Aaaarggghhhh... I'm doomed

This has been discussed to death on this forum already.
In short: yes, you do need an IDP if you want to be safe.
I have no idea how to obtain it for an UK citizen outside of UK though but I'm sure someone will.
-
Am I the only one who's noticed that the immigration officers at the airport don't staple the departure card to the passport's relevant page anymore?
At least that's what has happened at my last two arrivals in Suwa. I've almost lost the arrival card once, so now I staple it myself (last time I asked a counter clerk to do it for me at my bank when exchanging my euros).
Is this a cost-saving measure?

Sawangboriboon medics were called to a house in Soi Batman
Seriously, is that its real name?
Must have been Wonder Woman then.
Er, I think that the question was pertaining to "Soi Batman".

EDIT: beaten to it

So sad indeed to see such a young and promising life taken by one of these evil machines.

I very much doubt that many of these brainwashed followers will ever realize how much they've been conned.
Even if they do, the Buddhist fatalism + ingrained respect for everything (even the worst) wearing a saffron robe will probably cut short any reaction.

Just recently a major foreign business left the country, it's name was Casino
(...)
While I find Berty100's post quite right and well-informed, this particular case might not be that relevant to the situation in Thailand.
Big C was a quite profitable business, however the French company Casino is in such poor shape and in desperate need for cash that they've decided to sell this asset to keep the whole company from diving too much in the red.

GPS not work in chiang mai?
in Chiang Mai
Posted · Edited by Lannig
I can confirm that smog and/or thunderstorms really don't help.
The smartphones with so-so GPS receivers (there are more than usually thought, and at least the ASUS and the Lava fall into this category IMO) start failing to fix under such conditions.
The Samsung Ax series are relatively cheap smartphones very well built and with (in my own experience) excellent GPS.
I'm using an A3 and an A5.
I also vouch for the Alcatel as MissAndry does.
