There are many many people with Elite Visas... you should open another topic with a more relevant heading ... "Thai Immigration Visa" doesn't really explain what your post is about.
Thanks all for the response. What I wanted was some sort of feed back from users of that Elite visa before getting one. Although I’ve made up my mind and going for the 10 year option at 800k Thb. I’d still like to read about it from holders of such. I’m told you still have to report every 90 days to say you haven’t left the country. It’s not an issue, but what else ?

Why is this post closed ? Or am I misunderstanding something ? All the posts date back to 2015 ? Where are the 2019 posts about Thai visa ?
I wanted to know if anyone has applied for this Elite Vsa enabling one to live in Thailand without hassle for 5-10 years ?
Any feed back on this would be welcome

I don't know whether to cry or laugh at the absurd decisions of this government.
I think I'll have another one and listen to Cheech and Chong.

Don’t know if this is the right place to write this, but if Laos is one’s destination for extending one’s Thay stay..
Foreigners now wishing to enter Laos need a one entry only tourist visa, valid for 30 days. Cost depends on nationalities (Aussies USD46, for example.. or about A$70).
Where it hurts is when you, as is my case, only arrive in Vientiane by plane to cross over to Thailand’s northern province, in effect a mere transit. In my case, 12 hours max: US$46. When I leave a couple of month later, same way, across the bridge to VTE, for a less than 12 hours sejourn, that’ll be another US$46 !
I would like to bring my Thai wife across to Vientiane to take her for a romantic dinner in a French restaurant.. For that I’ll need a visa.
So now me think, for those of us who need to go across so as to extend our stay in Thailand, we will have to add that new expense into account.

First time I came to Thailand was in Isaan, and loved it straight away: its people, its environment, its way of life. Local food needs a bit to work on though, for it spicyness. As far aas Isaan women, I fell in love with one of them, never looked bacK

You’ve captured a lot of my story thank you.
im glad for folks who can move back and forth. For me poor as I am due to life choices n addiction for half my early life it’s Thailand, or some other Asian country for old age or bust for me if I stay in Oz the cost of living here is out of the question as a single 60 something man so Oz, Europe US is totally beyond my meagre retirement budget.
thailand with all its contradictions is still a great place ????????????
I’ll second that, being in Oz presently, I can see my meagre pension melting like snow under the global warming. And therés no snow in Thai..

There’s something else I like about Thailand (Isaan for me). It is that the money you spend for your woman (if you have one) radiates to the family. So you kind help a few people whereas if you retire in the West, your money doesn’t go that far. As for the exchange rates, well, what goes up will go down one day, such is the law of gravity, even in the financial work. And .. I really fell in love with Isaan, don’t know anywhere else in Thailand.

Thanks, the visa-stamp in my passport says RETIREMENT, and the re-entry stamp says NON-IMM, what should I call my visa to be correct?
Thanks, I went to the ampoe in my neighborhood to get a yellow book, but they did not accept my rental contract. If I change address to my girlfriends condo, I can have a yellow book at her ampoe, but I won’t do that.
Did not have any photos of me in front of the condo, nor was it requested
How long did that take you to do all those formalities ? Also I guess they can only be done in Bangkok, no ?

He is writing about getting a OA long stay visa (NON-OA) at a embassy or official consulate in your home country.
You have to show the financial proof when you apply for it there and show the money in a bank there.
See: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15385-Non-Immigrant-Visa-"O-A"-(Long-Stay).html
The Thai immigration site makes it feel as arduous to obtain that visa. I think I’ll for Harry’s way .. get to meet the locals and get first hand experience with this process circumvolutions ???? Gives you time to learn basic Thai as well

I say NEVER renounce a citizenship. Consider it as a privilege with all the advantages. You can live freely in the US and in Thailand. One thing to remember though: when you are in one of those countries of which you have citizenship you are under the laws of that country, not the other, in which case do not expect much support, and empathy, from the consular authorities if in need of help.
Keep those citizenships, even if you think you don’t need either of them.
I know ‘cause I got three ☺️

The way I understand this country is that it is a Monarchic Dictatorship, run as a Military Democracy. This way I better understand the paranoïa about Farangs’ (that’s caucasian only, right or does it include all non Thai visitors ?) movements in the country.
So, my move is .. outta here. Off to Madagascar, for what it’s worth..

Bee-keeping
in Isaan
G'day, Bee fans ..
We are 2019, this forum seems to ave stopped ten years ago ! Is that possible ?
I am a newcomer in Isan, settling down with my new bride in the Bueng Kan province. I am looking at starting bee farming as a "hobby" at first, see how I go. But find very little infos on bee farmng in Isaan. There was a post, in 2007, about a Bee Farming "institute" near Khon Kaen, but the address was so imprecise that made it impossible for my routers (bride and G-maps) to find.
Thus my questions: first, is this forum still humming and two, what is the exact address of this "Institut", if it still exists ?
News from the Isaan Farang Bee farmers would be most welcome.

Yes, there is a 10yr 800k visa. The 1m includes a yearly free medical check up and a bunch of limo transfers. None apply to places in Isaan. The 800k doesn’t include the medical not the limo transfers.
They didn’t mention any TM30. Whazzat anyway ?
