There's something a bit odd here. They demanded 120,000 baht as a ransom??
Perhaps he owed them 120,000 baht and they went totally over the top?
Sorry to be so cynical, but it doesn't make any sense.
Completly agree..................Once again several of our members need someone to talk with, but there is always another side of the story

The wife and I have lived in Chanthaburi for 3 years now and find the area great. As stated in prior replies good qual. air close to the beach's, shopping, great locals, very nice hospitals and about 40% cheaper than the tourest areas to live. Good luck on your choice

I and the wife have extended 6 times so far without a problem.......
-
Not to sound Hard but with the timing and you were already thinking of getting out of the situation get a DNA prior to any major decisions.

What is the question???? (ie) what type of visa,?
-
I had the same problem 2 years ago and they just extended my visa to the end of my passport..............

I never saw the sense in getting O-A issues. Expensive.
The wife and I found getting the O-A issued prior to arrival here in Thailand much easier with not having to depend on someone else to lead you around and all of the mis-information. For a couple or single who know nobody here I still beleive that it is the best visa allowed.........

Just seen on the news (Tan) that folks needing passport renewals will need to apply through Hong Kong vice BBK embassey. All persons needing this type service may want to contact the embassey on new procedures...

Get DNA done on the kids before making any long range plan's

At the PRESENT time you can get a OA retirement visa in the states prior to coming so waiting a extra year is not all bad. If you get the OA issued make sure you also get a multi entry as this way you can cross the border at the end of the first year and return which will give you in-effect two years in country with only having too do 90 days reports to immg.. which state are you from?

Went from Chanthaburi to Aran with a escort once and the cost for a single vec. was only 1000bt total time was 1hour 52min while worth the experience
-
I felt the same way here in Chanthaburi, but rather than ask the local managers about items that I wanted what I did was email the main office and within 3-4 weeks some of the items appeared. Now not all the items requested stayed due to not being able to sell the products but if you WANT something try going to the top instead of starting at the bottom???????????????

First off any death is a terrible thing for the family, (Now) why is the answer always what is the bib doing? It was 1:am or later in the morning and these Kids were out at a singing joint what are the families doing to stop these actions of their kids???

Just returned from Pong Nam Ron getting the wife and I visa extensions for another year. Friendly folks in and out approx. 20min. This included 90 day report.
This is our 6th visa extension and it just gets easier every year.
1. Extension request x2 TM7 1900BT X2
2. multy entry request x2 TM8 3800BT X2
3. 90 Day report x2 TM47 Free
4. Financial letter from Embassey 1200bt
Total 12600 bt
So simple I wonder why others to not do it........
-
Note that many immigration offices allow doing your 90 day report by mail.
And do not to forget to renew you multy entry also

I have loaded my genuine copy of XP on 6 computers (all my own) no problems at all.
I have genuine loaded on two desk tops and one laptop no problems at all, but I did call the help line and they gave me the right # and downloaded for me online

Thanks to everyone for their replies.
I found that the Magic Jack works much better and cheaper at only $19.00 a year.

I don't know of any Immigration Office that routinely makes the required copies (which is always the case outside of Bangkok for marriage extension). They just do not have a budget for that. And yes there have been several extra forms to fill out (even retirement had two this year). And, as you found out, the marriage is always more involved than retirement.
What are the two extra forms now required for retirement extensions?
-
Shit if this is news and we read it! we all need to get a life...........
-
Retired in 1993 but have only been here for 6 years and have never been bored. If anyone can not find things too do here they can not find things too do anywhere.

Have you tried Firefox, because it certainly doesn't happen to me? Not even sure if this could be a reason, just trying to eliminate possibilities.
Tried, no help, it is the browser I am using all time
No help using chromium either
cant use ie not on windows
Tried a couple of the suggestions but still the same problem, guess I will stay away until the fix is in place..............
-
Have you tried 'ctrl+F5' as that has helped others. Removing thaivisa cookie might also help.
Thanks I will try both
