Another CRY for help gone unanswered........
-
If you still want to teach a retirement visa will not help you as you will need a work permit.......
-
That price range should be no problem to find a house but as stated it will take some looking. If you need some help pm me and I will try to show you some of the area's.....

Chanthaburi is a great town with all available services, Hospital, shopping ect. the wife and i have lived here 4 years now and love it. Internet runs around 6-7 hundred baht per month and the average rent for a two/three bedroom is around 5 thousand per month. I think you will find some of the best beach's in Thailand very close without the tourist price. I am not sure about available rental houses but it should not take a lot of looking too find one. Good Luck

Wish I had that much advance notice of family emerg.

Guess I have to say it: I have used Bangkok Group several times over the last few years and have had Great service at a reasonable price. (Chanthaburi) I would recommend this hospital to anyone...........

For your question on Tricare, you can find a lot of good info on "tricare-overseas.com "

It sounds like a scare that should be deleted until proof other than another expat "Say's" is taken as proof

I have been using a great mail-forwarding service for the last 7 years and have had no problems at all. If I need something special they are only a email away. Runs around a $100 per year and well worth the money. My service is "The Other Mail Serivce" out of Oregon but believe they are elsewhere also.

Believe embassy letter is still, at least sometimes, accepted for up to six months but you would have to check with the office you plan to use.
30 days if in the Chanthaburi area no exceptions

The norm is 30 days

I use a device called magic-jack available at most stores in the US. It attach's to your computer and you can dial anywhere in the US and Canada for only $19.95 per year plus friends can call you for free also. You get a local phone number such as Ore. 503-555-5555. Have someone pick one up for you and send it or get one next time on vacation.

build a small guest house house over it and use as a basement for the mean time

You may want to look at Ban Laem just past Pong Nam Ron

Since dirt/rock is a norm for fill why not encase a area in concret first then fill in around it, this should take care of the water table in any area.........
-
Be sure to renew your entry permit as needed

One of the things that affects the cost is the type of artificial lens implanted.
What is the difference with the lens & does it really make much difference?
My other question was the period of time the eye is covered up after the surgery?
Best Wishes.J
Had a patch for two day's but could have taken it off in one..........
-
I had both my eye's done in Chanthaburi Bangkok hospital and they charged 28000 per eye with follow ups included. They would only do one eye at time then it was a three month wait for the second eye. If I would have known the diff. it made I would have done it years ago.

What price range are you looking for? Often times there are discounts for long term such as 20 days or more........

Never had a problem using Thai DL and the wife and I are both non-Thai
-
guess I will have too look elsewhere.
