  1. Hello to the Forum-

Seeking advice on hiring a family lawyer to represent me while I am not in country.

Please understand I am not here to put my personal life story on a public forum and I appreciate the respect of my request.

What has stimulated this request is I have children that are knowledgeable of Thai Visa Forum as they are not young and keep up with events and etc of Thailand via TV

My marriage was not done in the United States nor in Thailand but through a Thai Embassy in a Middle Eastern country.

American Lawyers don't know if I am actually married and have recommended I contact a lawyer in Thailand to assist.

This statement came as they feel that if I am actually married the Thai Embassy was an extension of Thai System just Overseas.

I currently reside in the U.S. and Thai soon to be ex- wife I believe is in Thailand??? I Have not had contact with her in many months.

Sincere advice not the typical TV heckle is much appreciated.

  2. I am so amazed that so many members of TV have nothing ever positive to say. Instant response to anything is ... well in a complete negative manner.

For as much complaining and negativity over Thai Government, BIB, Army, Imigration Officers, Politicians I am surprized you could still live or even think of vacation in the Land of Smiles! - Hey nothing is perfect gotcha but I can also think of issues we have in our own countries that are far from perfect.

  3. The only body to charge that the government will print more money is the opposition. I am no fan of the current government, but it has not said it will simply print money...and it won't, given the need for economic stability in the face of ASEAN requirements and the changes which will occur in 2015.

Opposition's oppose and destabilise and the best way to destabilise a government is to constantly speculate about the failure of the economy.

Sniping from a position of safety is the realm of oppositions throughout the democratic (or in Thailand's case, quasi democratic) world. Belief in headline grabbing statements made by people with limited authority and little responsibility, is the province of fools.

What you can't seem to see is that the PTP will do anything and everything to bring their almighty TS home from the UAE. The public be damned. Unfortunately, the public cannot see how much damage that man actually wreaked on the economy.

Please provide legit documented example of how he "damaged" the economy

I can't give you finance related "proof", but any perusal of newspapers in Pattaya at the time he was in power showed a marked increase in crime, which, IMO, was because his policies were driving the tourists away resulting in a decrease in money going into the hands of the poor Thai worker there.

Hmm.. so basically you are now switching to say that he drove away tourist? You are bouncing all around Mate and not giving any specifics or factual information just general statements. When I have more time will research the crime statistics for the period he was in office. As in reality certain portions of crime was really being dampered during his term. Infact if you look at arrest stats I am sure that they will be higher when he was in office.. for the simple fact of his war on drugs. I do believe that the press and media had far more to report on at the time because he was making a impact on criminal activities hence the papers had far more articles to publish. All the best enjoy the banter and have a great day

  5. I read somewhere that Thailand is actually an extremely dangerous country having (according to the article) the 2nd highest hand gun murder rate in the world, not per.capita.

    FWIW: http://en.wikipedia....ated_death_rate

The statistics refered to in in wikipedia are not very acurate. This whole deal is a sad situtation and even more real sad how so many people have jumped to conclusions with out any facts. As far as the war on Drugs from Taksin.... not my place to judge but sure seemed to be weeding out some shady drug related types.

Same as you, offshore etc live just along the road from you in Kusuman. Agree with what you say about farangs, before hardly ever saw any, now plenty.

    Tubber thanks for the reply,

Ok I know Kusuman well or the road to Kusuman as I have another house on the highway in Nonggabok and a my farm although everyone says it Nongabok it is actually Kokgao.

And yep before Big C and Makro hardly saw a Farang now we seem to be plentyfull.

    Best wishes

    Tony

  7. Jezz and Hans

Thanks for the reply! And happy holidays !!

I can understand about the offshore group as currently I fit that category.

I live about 20 minutes from Sakon Nakhon in Tharae been in the same house for 10 + years and looking at returning full time within the next year or so.... I keep saying that every year but the kids are getting older and I seem to miss them more and more every time I depart!

I am just trying to figure out or get a little more in tune with the Ex pat community. I'm rather intergraded into the local community but cannot say that about the Expat community. So I thought this might be a way to reach out to see really what is out there..

Hans thanks for the link to the blog that is great !

    Best wishes again

    Tony

  8. To all I'm trying to figure out a rough estimate of how many "Farang" live in or Visit the province of Sakon Nakhon.

I have been in the province for roughly 10 years and before we had Makro and Big C it seemed that I saw very few "farang". Now that we have made it uptown with Big C and Makro It seems to be a common place to "spot" the Farang.

I would assume that most Farang with the exception of a few pensioners and teachers most are visitors.

    Best wishes to all

    Tony

  9. Not sure why anybody is still calling this red mob a protest. Seems to me when people act as terrorists and go to this extent in infringing on people's safety and a countries economy they are no longer protesters.

We all seem to foget the Yellow SHirts and how they shut down the airport! Also what the yellow shirts gained by shutting down the airport. The current Government!!!

  10. This can all be stopped with the reds going home. Is risking your life really worth 500 Baht a day from Thaksin?

    The money has gone up.

All my neighbours here in the Samutprakarn village had been promised 100.000 Baht per household if the reds succeed.

Registration for the daily wage and the end bonus at Imperial Samrong Reds office.

Neighbours are saying they will join the rally to take the 100k for the children's future education.

Can you please provide solid evidence of this? Please do not make statements with out proof. I am not trying to provoke arguement but lots of things are being taken out of context.

  11. The result has been gory.

The opinion writer can call it 'gory' if he/she wants, but all the deaths yesterday comprised one third of a daily average for road carnage on any day of the year in Thailand. Oops, sorry, not 'any day of the year' .....road deaths double for New Years and for Songkran. Is the gore any less, when a 5 year old girl and her 2 year old brother have their heads smashed on the pavement by some ignorant drunk driver?

The title of the Editorial is hand-wringing at its best. Sure, no one likes to see people getting injured or killed. However, the Red Shirt leaders have been egging on the authorities for weeks, and the recent fracas is what the Reds have been aiming for. They even stole dead bodies and paraded them on a public stage! After the Red leaders get refreshed from staying at their plush hotels, they'll go back to the Red stages and yell and prance at the manipulated folks who slept on reed mats on dirty sidewalks - to fight for democracy - which any observer knows is a mean ruse. There's no democracy among the Reds. They're a withering minority who are paid to stay in Bkk, and who have leaders who dictate what they should do (note: democracies shouldn't have dictators), .....all in a thinly disguised objective to bring a power hungry rich man - back to power and back to padding his ill-gained fortune.

Do you have any idea what you are talking about? ---- I understand that people are allowed to express their views but to say there is no democracy among the reds???

Where was Red democracy when one man decided to not accept the v. reasonable offer by the sitting government to call elections a year earlier than need be? One Red rep decided right away that the offer was no good. He didn't even consult with the two other Red leaders sitting next to him. Reds can talk about democracy 'til they're red in the face, but they don't really know what democracy is. The closest the Reds came to democracy was when their leader in absentia paid village headmen (pu yai ban) to spread the payments to his minions (villagers lower down the social ladder) to vote for "the man who was so rich he couldn't be corrupted."

OK -- too wait for any length of time to afford the people the right vote and elect a government of the peoples choice not a Government that was put in place by the actions of a Coup is obserd! It is obvious that the current Goverment is worried that it will not be elected by the people. Question were they ever elected by the people? Again this as much as everyone keeps trying to make it is not about Thaksin this is about the process of the current government...

Hmm the current government was it elected by the people for the people? They are a withering minority paid to stay in Bangkok--- ???? I do not think that 70 % of the population is withering... And although yes must aggree that Thaksin is close to the Red Shirts this is not about him this is about the process of government.. All seem to forget that he was outsted BY A MILITARY COUP.. lets look at who has been in control since then???? HMMM

  13. If the current government would focus a little more on the future and not the past maybe things would look better. How is the tourism this year? how is the export? how is the agriculture business.. they only have the media power because the Kings family is low profile these days. IT IS EASY PUTTING THE BLAME ON THE OLD GOVERMENT .. TO GIVE A REASON TO EXCUSE YOUR FAILURES....! Ok Thaksin was not perferct i aggree but the majority of the people were better off!!!!!!!!!!!! but the biggest problem is the masses were starting to enter the world of what I call the "white collar' world........ the lone farmer was gaining enougth to enter the anual income $ of the " government worker" or the 17% of thai population........ versus the 63% of the population.. ok i have ran my mouth enough (maybe venting) best wishes for all but really let the past be past and freaking get something done.. like jump on the fact that the rest of asia rice harvest this year is crap .....................neee who would ever think of export deals................ oh what is the yang para price now..............

  14. Has any one in a Changwat (province) of Thailand incubated chicken eggs air-freighted from USA? What is the outcome?

I got nothing out of 12 fresh eggs. All rot but fertile... The came from USA to Nongkhai near the Thai-Lao border.

    Thank you.

Kit PM and will see if I can help

  15. Please help I’m in need of a Thai company for operation of a large scale hydroponic farm in the Middle East. The project will be predominantly for cut flower production. Tissue culture experience is a plus. The green houses and systems are in place and may need to be modified on recommendation of who ever operates the project.

    please contact me through PM

    Kindest of regards

    Tony

  16. Hmm, does this mean a golden age for the Thai farmers, or a golden age for the middle men?

The farmers should be educated to take advantage of this "golden age" it is one of my long held wishes (fantasies) that the current young generation actually give a stuff enough to help the older generation in matters of marketing and co-ops rather than being at the mercy of the middleman.

I second your thought! I have often wondered why i dont see programs like FFA and 4-H or maybe there is but i have never noticed. I know my self as young lad gained lots of knowledge from both of these programs. His Majesty has done wonders with his programs could these be caried down a generation ?
