I have to go back to get the 30th Nov stamp on Monday, i'll post an update then. Good luck!
You have the same situation as me?

I tried at CM office. They said I couldn't extend due to a little 2.4 written on the bottom of my last extension stamp. Someone here said that 2.4 means I can only extend a tourist visa by 30 days maximum. I'll go back eventually though. Hoping to hear of success froma anyone who is in the same boat as me but have not heard 1 single case yet. (Extended 30 days by TV extension, not using embassy letter)

@2530Ubon does this mean that a person who is currently on a 30 day tourist extension (not embassy letter) can apply for this 60 day stay? Can I apply now or would need to wait until after Oct. 26 when i convert back to amnesty? Or am I not eligible at any time, and must leave by the end of the month? I know it may be different from office to office but just trying to understand fully. Please answer based on your office.

I emailed immigration ([email protected]) to ask if tourist visa extensions applied for prior to the 26th of September are eligible for the 30th November stamp, or if it only applies to people who had an embassy letter. I shall post any update as soon as it comes in. Pointless arguing between ourselves when we can ask immigration directly!
Thanks 2530Ubon!!!

@SAcanman What if you try a different immigration office? It's not an "under consideration" stamp, which must be extended only at the same office.
I might try Chiang Rai next week as I'll be in the area but it's too soon to know for sure if I will.
When do you plan on trying?

Did you show him the application form shown on that thread?
Unfortunately I did not. I wish I would have now. Hopefully someone else will try soon and show it to him. I'll go back in about 2 weeks unless we get positive confirmation of a procedure beforehand.

Another office changed a person's stamp to November 30th but they called him to return to the office and they cancelled it. He was told he did not qualify for that stamp since he had extended his original entry from a tourist visa. He was then told he could only apply for the 60 day extension.
Apparently only those that got 30 day extensions from a embassy letter qualify to get stamped to the November 30th.
Thanks Ubonjoe. I had read about his experience as well and that is why I asked about the 60 day extension. Unfortunately he was unable to advise about it. It's my hope people will continue to go immigration offices and inquire about it. Was there any information in these weeks cabinet meeting?

It will be so so unfair if it turns out that we just lost our time and money extending our tourist visas because of their scaremongering before Sep 26.
Yeah, it kinda sucks but I slept better at night knowing I didn't have to worry about post 9/26 and i don't lose sleep over 1900 baht out the window. It would be nice to have it and spend it locally but that's just the way it happened this time.
Hopefully more information becomes clear sooner rather than later.

I wonder why couldn't they revoke the old stamp and give you a new one, up to Nov 30?
I also got my tourist visa extension in Chiang Mai before Sep 26.
I'm not sure but hopefully the people of CM, and other locations, in the same situation will continue to go and get firsthand knowledge and answers, as best as they can be.

Today I went to CM immigration at Promenada Mall to get first hand experience on my options for extending a Tourist Visa which was extended once before in September (This has absolutely nothing to do with a covid/embassy letter).
I met the greeter at the front door of the office and told him I was looking for my options of how to further extend my current extension which is dated for Oct. 26. He took me directly to the woman to get a stamp of Nov. 30. The lady reviewed my last stamp and called the greeter back. The greeter then told me that I was, at this time, unable to extend further as they were still waiting for instructions of how to proceed. He said the previous stamp I got had a note of 2.4 written on bottom righthand side which meant I couldnt extend, right now. He could not tell me specifically what the 2.4 indicates. He told me to come back on Oct. 26 to see my options. I asked if there was a 60 day extension I could apply for but he said they were waiting for information still.
That's about all that was exchanged. He was very nice and spoke good english. I do worry about his comment of waiting until the 26th though. Hopefully information and procedures are understood prior to that.
Side note.. I arrived around 10:15 and there were maybe 20 people waiting for whatever they were there for. Not too busy.

Thanks Peter,
No, I wont be applying for Non-O. I am not 50 yet, but thanks for the heads up. I've never used an agent but I'll look into what options are available after the 26th. Perhaps prices will fall a bit after next week? Just hoping so, not predicting (nor looking for anyone's thoughts about it).
I did hear immigration explain to a new employee who gets the full 30 day extension stamp and who needs an embassy letter to get the 30 days (for tourist visas). He said if you entered Thailand before March 26 you get the 30 days if, if not used already. If you entered after the 26 you need an embassy letter. Please dont shoot the messenger, just relaying exactly what I heard the officer say to the noob.

I just got back from CM Promenade office. I have a METV. My last entry was March 20. Had not used 30 day extension. Today I used that 30 day extension. All the regular forms need to be filled out which they will provide to you when you arrive. In addition to that, I required my TM30, photocopies of passport (main id page, visa, last entry stamp, tm6), and lastly my gps coordinates for my condo.
I arrived at 10:10 and there were about 15 other people in there. I finished up and left at 11:10 and there were about the same amount of people there. It was very easy.
Just wanted to contribute my experience. Also, the people working there were really nice including the immigration officer who seemed like he was answering people's questions and providing information very politely.
Stay safe everyone.

I'm under 50 so my options are limited and I also have a hard time bringing myself to pay an agent bribe money. I worked hard for my money and I don't want to support the corruption. I waited too long to apply for some of the conventional visas, such as ED, but that is my own doing and I accept that I will go home if I have to. I didn't want to commit to a full year of staying here studying. I'm hoping for just long enough for other neighboring to open, but who knows when that will be.
I would gladly pay the government/immigration a fee to stay month to month or every few months if I knew it wasn't lining someone's personal pocket. Would rather that money go into the system which would hopefully benefit others through incentive programs, relief funds, etc.

Hey Zord, fellow Canuck here in Thailand. I have also checked with embassy in Bangkok and consulate in Chiang Mai and have gotten the same answers as you. No help from them currently or any information that they might help with extension letters soon.
I'm in the same predicament as you regarding returning to a home with elderly people. I prefer to stay here, however if I have to return I will. I do have a ticket booked for Sept. 26 but I can cancel it up to 2 hours before takeoff. Many airlines are offering flexibility. I can get 1 free change without penalty or a travel voucher. I figure I'll need it eventually so it seemed like a good option to take in case we are forced to go next week.
Anyway, good luck to you and stay safe.

Thanks for letting me know. Good luck with your travels and stay safe.

I'm curious which airline you are flying and where the connections are. I plan on flying to Canada with a stop in Tokyo (on JAL). As far as I can tell, there in no requirement for a test as I will remain airside at Narita airport. Also, assuming you are Canadian, you do not need a test to enter Canada.
Please let me know. I'm interested in your upcoming plans.
Thanks.

Which beach currently offers the most in terms of restaurants/food stalls/markets being open if they arrived this week? Which area has the most to offer currently? (Yes I know it's not much but some area has to have the most)

Is there an informative site that shows which provinces require quarantines? I'd love to do a motorbike trip (keep to myself) but I'm not sure where I can travel to.

I too am of the same mindset as the OP. I planned on touring SEA for a couple years. I saved money prior and have no need to work (for those who assume no one can ever do this and must be cheating immigration or working illegally). I decided to wait it out here for a few months to see what and if anything opens up.
I looked into Cambodia as an option as it seems it is loosening its border. I read the official release about entry requirements and one sticking point about the 72 hour covid free test is it must be issued by your country of residence. For those who do not reside in Thailand this will be a problem, I think. Scroll down in this link to see the official entry rules.

Hello everyone,
I will be flying into BKK in about 2 weeks.
I am a 43 year old Canadian who has the opportunity to travel for an extended amount of time (1-2 years). This will be a solo trip. I have been able to save and make investments to allow me to do this. I will not be working during this time.
My history of entries are:
Nov 2018 - 18 days visa exempt
Apr 2019 - 16 days visa exempt
I would like to spend as much time as possible in Thailand to start this trip, and then i will move along to surrounding countries.
The METV makes sense, i think, so i can spend the first 6 months in the Kingdom, possibly extending some segments if i am enjoying the trip.
The SETV could be an option but I am worried about obtaining another SETV afterwards based on posts of these forums. The METV seems better, but riskier?
My question revolves around which visa to get. I know no one knows for sure, but based on my history and age, do you feel that i would have any issues with the METV vs the SETV?
Changing the flight is not an option. I will have all the money required upon entry as well as my first month of accommodations booked and readily available.
Thanks for your constructive and respectful thoughts/opinions.

I will be applying for a METV in a couple months from the Toronto consulate. I checked the application form and was concerned about the employer section. I emailed the consulate for clarification or expectation...
Me: I recently quit my job to travel the world for a couple years. I want a thai METV. The application asks about present position and name of employer.
What do I write in this section?
Will I be denied due to no present employer even though I can provide all other information including more than enough funds?
Consulate: You can put ‘none’, it makes no difference to this application.
End of email exchange.
It seems funny that they would ask for the information but then tell me it has no meaning. Why bother then?
I'm a bit skeptical still. I dont want to fork out a nonrefundable $250 application fee and then get denied based on this 1 piece of information if I follow his direction. I'd rather not lie on the application give some BS answer.
Any experiences, or thoughts, with this? Toronto experience would be really beneficial but other locations gladly accepted too.

Regular (not covid) tourist visa extension until Nov 30?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I have been waiting to see if anyone has been successful with this as well. I did go 2 weeks ago but was told to come back on the 26th when my tourist extension (not covid letter extension) expires. I have no idea what options will be open to me on the 26th. I did ask but he couldn't answer.
I was under the impression that ALL visa extensions done prior to 9/26 (paid 1900 baht) were eligible to be pushed back until 11/30.
I have a worrying feeling.
