Thinking best to be very pro active with asking the agents in Pattaya/Jomtien.

At a guess you may have contacted Maneerat.  There are lots of others.

Skip the emails and ring them or use apps they offer such as Line, messenger etc.

Fall back option would be to contact ThaiVisaCentre.

    Their contact details posted above.

You also mention seasoning the funds.

In other words doing the extension yourself.

If that's the case them very first task is to check out that old K account.

Note: the agents will only assist with the Bank account if you are also using them for the extension.

Thanks for the advice Dr Jack. Your guess was spot on!

K bank will be my first call. If that fails and I need to use an agent for the extension as a sweetener to open a bank account then I will take that route.

    ThaiVisaCentre answered that above.

So you have a Non O already?

    Hi Dr Jack.

    I will be staying in Jomtien so would prefer not to travel to BKK but obviously would be prepared to do so if that was my only option. For further info;

Yes, I have a 90-day non-O obtained in the UK. I also have an old K bank account that maybe I can reactivate. Not certain this can be done!

I will be staying in an Airbnb for my first month while I look for long term accommodation so not sure how this will play out with banks even if I obtain a COR.

I have just had an email back from one of the agents that has numerous recommendations on here informing me that they can’t help with bank account opening.

Maybe I am worrying too much but I am trying to plan a for worst case scenario wherein I don’t manage to open an account within a couple of weeks after my arrival (giving me time to season the funds for an extension).

    Thanks

Better yet - I  will repost.  Its not long:

With regard to declaring, I suspect only if you meet some conditions, where it only needs to be declared if:

    (1) you remit the interest to Thailand when a tax resident of Thailand and

    (2) your combined income with this remitted interest meets or exceeds the Thai threshold for income tax filing, and

    (3) you don't have an LTR visa.

However i am no tax expert. As always, its best to double check and obtain better advise elsewhere.

    Thanks oldcpu much appreciated

  4. Hi

I am currently in the process of booking a 1-month Airbnb to give me time to find a permanent place to stay. I contacted the landlord and asked about obtaining a copy of the TM30 as I may need it to obtain a COR for opening a bank account. He informed me that he completes the TM30 online and would send me a screen shot. So, my question is; If I turn up at immigration (Jontiem) with the screenshot would they locate the TM30 on their system?

    Thanks

You may be lucky.  I think accounts become dormant first before being closed, provided the balance stays above zero.  There will be a fee charged each month if the balance is less than 2000.

I don't recall what was left in the account but pretty sure it was in excess of 2000 so will find out when I visit the branch. Thanks

    The lease is a bonus.

Yes with TM30 and lease immigration should be satisfactory to immigration.

Keep in mind that Pattaya has good agents that at very least will assist with COR if any issue.

Probably not active however given you will enter with a Non O and previously had account with Kasikorn I would go to bank first without the COR.

Explain you are applying for 12 month extension and wish to transfer 800k.

Thanks for the advice Dr Jack. I will try the bank without the COR initially and see what they say. Any idea of the cost of an agent obtaining a COR?

I resurrected an old Kasikorn account 2 years ago.  It was still active and all I needed was my current passport - they were only interested that my name was the same as it was certainly not the one I used to open it.  I had made sure the account was active by depositing small amounts over the years, otherwise they will eventually close it due to inactivity.

No transactions on the account at all for 7 years so probably closed due to inactivity!

    Excellent.

Bangkok Bank pretty much insist on COR from immigration or embassy address letter.

The OP could try Kasikorn with just the Non O entry and TM30.

    Worth a try.

Regarding the certificate of residence (COR). Is my understanding correct, that all I need to obtain the COR is a lease agreement and a TM30? I will be staying in Jomtien. Do I just turn up at the immigration office and wait my turn?

I hold an account with Kasikorn that hasn’t been used for approx. 7 years. There is probably 2-3000 baht in the account and I still have the debit card that expired 6 years ago so my plan is to try them first.

Would you mind posting the result and any problems experienced once you get a reply? Interested in how long it takes to go through. Also I assume the Visa starts once you enter Thailand, so interested if you have a certain period of time before you need to have entered Thailand. We plan to apply for Visa and want to get the timings right. Good luck.🤞

I will post the result, time taken and other info when I get the notification.

I did this last year and although it is not mentioned when applying I received an email a day or 2 later asking for "

Flight details showing the applicant’s name, departure date, all flights en route from UK/Ireland/UK territories to Thailand".  I had this so no problem in my case.   Total turnaround time 4 days.

Oh well... lets hope I don't get the same request because I have submitted my application now and I have not booked my flights as yet. Thanks anyway

  12. Hi

I was planning to enter Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption stamp before applying to convert to a Non Imm O visa. I am now reading from several posts that I won’t be able to open a bank account when I arrive so no way of depositing the 800k Bht. I have decided to apply for a 90-day single entry non imm O in the UK. I set up the online account and filled in the first couple of pages but before I move forward, I have the following questions.

It asked for an address and contact number. If I put a hotel address down, would I need to upload proof of booking confirmation later in the application?

Would I need to upload flight booking conformation? (I have not booked yet as still finalizing my plans)

I understand that utility bills are required for proof of address. Is this correct?

I understand that bank statements need to be provided. How many months?

Would statements in my name but from an address different to utility bill proof of address be acceptable? I can provide statements from the same address as my utility bills but the balances were low and I only increased them with transfers last week, however I have an offshore account registered at a different address that has sufficient funds over a long period of time.

Any idea what the turn-around time is for the application?

Any other information on documentation would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
