And if she has some friends with baseball bats living with her now. What then?
Just take the beating like a man?
Sounds like you are making excuses for yourself, this aint a film I highly doubt you will be clubbed to death somehow. You tried the right approach initially which didn't help so now it's time to take the gloves off.

And living with mom apparently. Epic fail.
Utterly ridiculous thing to say. It's 2 grown up's living together. So he should go live on his own (while leaving his mum on her own) and pay a load of dough in rent just so he can puff his chest out and down the pub and say 'I'm not living with Mam'?? And this from a poster who says he would go back to the UK 'in a flash' if he had somewhere to stay or if he could afford it.
Sounds like someone is envious.

As opposed to having a warm fan blowing on you here to save on electric? makes me laugh how some are so scared of a UK winter, it's not even that cold compared to Scandinavia, Canada, etc. if your'e going to try to diss the UK as being not a good place to live you really have to come up with something better than that.

I would just put it down to the blazer and wear something different next time.
It intrigues me why so many are desperate to come here all the time and even after being interrogated and made to feel like a criminal then want to come back and try again. Why, are the streets here paved with gold???
If it wasn't for my kids here I would have been gone long ago.

Been back in the UK nearly two months now
First thing that I did was to apply for a new UK PP , even though my PP had years and pages remaining , I wanted a new UK issued PP with no Thai connections to my old PP .
Applied and got a new *clean* UK passport and went online to apply for a new Thai visa in my brand new passport .
"Where you staying" "How much money do you have" , "Return flights" ? In other words, *Will you be going to Thailand , arriving with no money and no where to stay and then be looking for a way to survive *
*Prove that you are not *
*Please upload all the evidence making sure everything is 100% correct , any small error will result in your application being refused and your application fee wont be refunded .................best of luck with your application*
Right , apply to go to an expensive Country , where my visa application may be refused without a refund , I may be refused entry at the airport and sent home and get photographed and fingerprinted and the authorities following me around everywhere , by ways of TM30 reports .
Filled out my visa application form, uploaded all the documents , filled in my bank details and pressed .................*Delete*
I didnt and dont want to go back to Thailand .
The reasons for myself wanting to stay in the UK are the same reasons as why I previously liked going to Thailand , just reversed
Tbh if I read all that I too would feel very despondent and would also be telling Thailand to poke it. Stay where you are Sanemex, I would.

Sorry, but when a member in answering a question from another member and has nothing more than to comment than 'go live elsewhere' or 'go back home', it smacks of their ignorance in the law, or their inability to follow it and give a useful answer.
If you can't post more useful information, why bother posting at all.!
You've heeded your own advice - obviously.
Yea, great comeback, so original!

You live where exactly - Khon Kaen - Thailand. ????
First of all, you really shouldn't take a 'members' locale as gospel. Secondly, my point is if it's too much trouble residing in Thailand I just wouldn't bother. So why that has anything to do to where I may currently 'live' (without any issues) fails me. As you were..

Navigating the thai bureaucratic immigration rules for sure is difficult and often confusing.
Luckily the TV Forum is here to provide help.
But God help you if you are not admin-minded or don't have internet access.
For some long-stayers that missed the digital train, complying with the rules will be a real ordeal
Yes agree, must be thousands of expats that don't ever come on here or indeed the net, must really be difficult going it 'alone'

Well these are personal decisions but not all popular expat retirement destinations are sweat boxes. I'm considering a move to a region with year round spring like temperatures.
Same we're not too far off the same page then. Hope it works out. Why anyone would want to grow old and die here is beyond me.

Complete nonsense, just go somewhere else to live and don't be held to ransom just so you can live here.

Retire in your own country where you know where you stand, know what's going on and have friends and family and familiarity all around, or go to some sweatbox and pretend you are happy.

And I would not consider myself special in any way. But, I am cautious, patient, and willing to take my time, and push back. It has really paid off. That is my real world, thank you very much. Life is what we make of it. If someone is willing to lay down and be trampled upon, that is their choice.
Just amazing. No you really are special, truly.

Yep, some guys have a really hard time with the concept of a man being a man, and a woman being a woman. It just boggles the mind of alot of Westerners, that this is even possible. After a lifetime of indoctrination, one tends to believe what they are told. Be a good boy Johhny. Follow directions or else.
Full of wisdom aren't you oh special one.
Back in the real world..

Right on the money! How you are dressed doesn't affect your chances of getting a visa as long as you are neat and presentable. How you interact with the Immigration officer is far more important. If you are honest and show them the basic respect they are entitled to as human beings, that's all that is important. People are the same that way, the world over!
I asked this question about dress code simply to be in accordance with local cultural customs, because THAT is a sign of respect for the particular location's culture, and has nothing to do with impressing an Immigration officer. As @ThomasThBKK said, they can spot a poser from a mile away. Some of the best con-artists in the world are snappy dressers LOL!
Funny how such a simple, innocent question has now turned into a four page thread, mostly composed of dim-witted and/or inflammatory comments. Kind of sad really ????
It's because people on here having nothing to do all day, while telling you that they are living the dream!

I definitely prefer my Thai children.
I have NEVER seen or heard anyone label their own children as worthless scum. Not saying you're wrong as I don't doubt it, just a bit shocked to see it in writing, and I don't shock easily.

Was at Thai Consulate in HCMC 1 month ago. The guard outside lets 3-4 people in at a time. Once through the outside gate, there is a very small waiting area with a few chairs. The inside room is also small, enough for a table with forms to fill out and a couple of people to queue in front of the window to give your paperwork. I do not think they can even see your pants or shoes or care. Wore T-shirt, shorts, low cut socks and fake crocs, same as when I re-entered Chiang Mai Airport on my new multi-entry non immigrant O visa (marriage), no questions asked. For documents and procedure, I posted a trip report:
Oh come on don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. Me, I always wear my Sunday best when visiting these places of 'authority' also get a haircut the day before complete with ear, nasal hair and eyebrow trim. I have yet to have a visa rejected.

Not sure why the seller should refund you, it's entirely your fault.
There's only 5% import duty and 7% VAT on mechanical watches, see below. Why not just pay that...
Around 3k Baht ... i guess you saved more than 3k baht.
If you order from Europe, you spare yourself 15-20% VAT and pay only 12% tax in Thailand... how is that bad?
sadly it don't work like that in real life..it would have been 30% then all the extras that they pile on top, it is a complete scam, and it was purchased in USA and not from a retailer anyway..
Mods - <SNIP> pls close the thread.

The fact is that couriers will go an extra mile to collect extra money. So things will be taxed for sure maybe even too high with their extra charges on it. That is why i avoid them.
I never do false declarations though.. that is a game i prefer not to play as it can really backfire.
With over 30000 posts I highly doubt you do anything except post on here.

So I made up some excuse about not having a receipt and asked for RTS..this is what I got back..
Sorry for inconvenience, you shipment can’t return. But in this case we will open to the sender for request DDP and proof of payment form them to help you.
Thank you

I'm becoming more unstuck every day
-Got sole parental power (sole custody) with my son ( 5 years ago)
-Got a divorce from my Issan peasant wife ( July 4 this year, independance day)
-Sold everything with my name one it (ongoing)
-All money transfered back to an offshore bank (also ongoing)
End of the school year for my son and its AMF (AdiosMutherf##ker)
So Long and thanks for all the Fish
My son will be raised as a Canadian, and he wants to go.
This whole experiment in Thailand (over 23 years) has cost me massive amounts of money,
But, at the end of it I got a beautiful son, that I love more than anything, and it is returned daily
*PRICELESS*
A bit similar to me, been here 20 years and have a boy and girl, if it wasn't for them I probably would have shot myself by now, as haven't achieved anything else living here, unless porking a few hundred girls and getting drunk on cheap beer is an achievment?

I agree with the above. At this point, I suspect that Customs knows there’s something “a miss” with the stated declared value and what they see...
So... since you don’t have genuine documentation, you can’t rally produce anything and “doubling down” really means willfully producing falsified/fraudulent papers to circumvent law.. which, given the value of the thing your taking about, to me, isn’t a worthwhile risk-v-reward situation.
I think a “refused delivery consignee” is your only and best bet at this point. I’m not sure what fees, penalties or the like MAY be involved with a “RTS” return-to-sender shipment, but it’s my opinion that whatever it may be, it still better than trying your luck with what will end up being fraudulent documents.
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa ConnectThanks for the input. Yes a RTS the only way to go now. Just responded, made up a silly excuse for not having the receipt and requested RTS, so let's see what they come back with.

You can refuse the delivery, it gets returned, you get a refund on your purchase.
It has been stated time and again on this forum, that wherever possible to avoid "couriers" and asking a seller to break the law and make false customs declarations is not a good idea either.
Thanks Charlie. So should I just ignore the request and just tell DHL that I want the package returned? And yes agree, will be the first and last time I will be playing this game.
