  1. another recommendation on the dark side: Fabrice. That's the guy who owned before Dao Cafe and Aqua Demie.

Same great food as he had in the other places that he built up and sold: pizza and steaks. Every dish is a recommendation, the burgers are Texas size.

Please share more info on the location. I would love to give them a try,

    Thanks

And, to get there: Drive up Soi Nernpleubwan from Sukumvit Road, turn left (or turn right if you are coming from the big Wat)toward Aqua Demiye; the soi splits, drive down the left side of the "y" split and turn left again at the next crossing. About 100 meters further down on the left you will see the building with Fabrice, which has the bar entrance to the left and the restaurant entrance to the right. You're there!

You use a reference to Aqua Demiye in your directions but I have no idea what that is.

How about putting this spot on the restaurant map?

The gold price crash is further evidence of market rigging

The facts in the public domain do not justify the sharp fall in the gold price over the past two trading days. At the time of writing, the price per 100oz is $1363, down over $200 since Friday's open. The scale of the sell-off was the worst in 30 years, with the volatility index standing at the highest level in its history.John Kemp at Reuters has calculated that based on a normal distribution, you would expect to see movements like Monday's only once in every 500 million trading days, or two million years. The news which would justify such a price swing is curiously absent – in fact, my view is that the market ought to be bullish for gold. Something doesn't add up.

  3. Assault On Gold Update— Paul Craig Roberts

What happens when 500 tons of gold sales are dumped on the market at one time or

    on one day?

Correct, it drivesthe price down. Investors who want to get out of large positions would spread

sales out over time so as not to lower their sales proceeds. The sale took gold down by about $73 per ounce. That means the seller or sellers lost up to $73 dollars 16 million times, or $1,168,000,000.

Who can afford to lose that kind of money? Only a central bank that can print it.

    http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2013/04/13/assault-on-gold-update-paul-craig-roberts/

I don't understand how the sellers are the ones to lose money when the price drops. Those shorting a falling market are the ones to make the profit. It's those buying gold during a falling market that lose.

ROSS NORMAN - Gold crushed by 400 tonnes or $20 billion of selling on COMEX
    APR
    15

The gold futures markets opened in New York on Friday 12th April to a monumental 3.4 million ounces (100 tonnes) of gold selling of the June futures contract (see below) in what proved to be only an opening shot. The selling took gold to the technically very important level of $1540 which was not only the low of 2012, it was also seen by many as the level which confirmed the ongoing bull run which dates back to 2000. In many traders minds it stood as a formidable support level... the line in the sand.

Two hours later the initial selling, rumoured to have been routed through Merrill Lynch's floor team, by a rather more significant blast when the floor was hit by a further 10 million ounces of selling (300 tonnes) over the following 30 minutes of trading. This was clearly not a case of disappointed longs leaving the market - it had the hallmarks of a concerted 'short sale', which by driving prices sharply lower in a display of 'shock & awe' - would seek to gain further momentum by prompting others to also sell as their positions as they hit their maximum acceptable losses or so-called 'stopped-out' in market parlance - probably hidden the unimpeachable (?) $1540 level.

  5. Gold getting shredded today.

Has the price changed since last Friday then, and where can one see it before the US markets open.

I thought the price was created only on the US future markets, which only open at the end of this day.

The price is set at the LBMA 2x daily. Google "gold fixing"

If you want to see where it's set for Thauland look at

    http://www.goldtraders.or.th/

they are the ones to fix the price for thailand and do so a couple times a day as well. BUT, given the holidays they are still working on the pre 1500 drop price.

  6. I've been playing at Diamond Badminton on 3rd road 3x a week for a few weeks now. I''m not sure I'd get as much out of it if it was air conditioned. The whole reason I go is for a good sweat and to get my heart rate up for an hour. It's a great workout. Diamond opens daily at 2pm (closed the 18-19th for Songkran) and the one directly across the street from it opens at 4pm. No idea if that one is closed for the holidays. It's much smaller and has only 4 courts but also only costs 100thb per hr vs Diamond which is 130thb/hr.

  7. Just wanted to post a follow up that I got some grains from tropo several months back and have been drinking kefir daily. I don't mind the taste and actually much prefer it to normal milk. I have given grains away to friends as they multiply do fast. I probably need to take 1/2 or more of my current grains and freeze them cause I just have to much.

I make about 1 liter a day and after a few days I put them in the fridge to rest until I drink all the kefir I made. Then I start again. Seems to work great.

For a while I was also making coconut milk kefir which was great as a base for berry smoothies. Haven't done it for a few months so maybe it's time I start again.

I found glass containers to work best and you can find some perfect ones at foodland on the snack good isle on the bottom shelf. Think the one I got us like 1 or 1.25 liters but with the amount of grains I have I could easily use the 2 liter jar they sell. I never use the lid unless they are resting in the fridge. I do take a paper towel and secure it to the top of the jar with a rubber band while brewing to keep any contaminants out.

My use of the word "if" was done to please the readership here as just stating the fact that gold hit a 32 year high when priced in JPY would have met the normal misleading comments that gold is only priced in USD when clearly it's not.

In fact, at the twice daily gold price fixing in London, gold's price is fixed in EURO, GBP, and USD.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_fixing

and where would you think those prices are derived from? Sorry to say but you are wrong, Gold is a pure USD trade unless there is an unregulated over the counter deal. The prices you see quoted are with slight deviations rooted in currency exchange.

Certainly not going to argue it with you

    http://www.lbma.org.uk/pages/?page_id=53&title=gold_fixings

See for yourself what the LBMA does and how they fix the gold price twice daily and have been doing so since 1919. http://www.goldfixing.com/

As for the process they use to fix the price.. see here

Oil had been a pure USD based commodity until recently, perhaps you are confusing oil and gold?

  9. Just to put things into perspective.... If you earn your money in Japan Yen and used Yen to buy your gold... today gold just hit a 32 year high when priced in JPY

I hear from Silverdoctor.com that gold hit a high in both cowrie shells and dung beetle antlers this week too...... (can't find the chart)

I'm sorry but the Japan Yen is one of the major currencies of the world. Are you honestly trying to compare it to dung beetle antlers in order to discredit the facts?

    What a poor sport indeed.

you posted a fact but for most readers an irrelevant fact Jayman. add to it that (as far as investments are concerned) the hindsight use of "if" is irrelevant too.

That gold made new 32 year highs in the gold thread is hardly irrelevant.

  10. Every year my husband gets his annual physical done at BHP cost in 2012 6000 baht.

This year company forgot to book so he went to BH rayong cost 3000 baht for exactly the same physical

What is the program that he selected for the 3000 thb physical. I see that many options are offered for different prices. Could it be he had fewer tests done in Rayong?

I ask cause I don't see any 3000thb physicals being offered there other than the very basic marriage physical for men

And here is what is on offer at Phyathai Sriracha

I'm interested in getting a yearly physical and I'm looking for where offers the best value for the service.

    Thanks

  11. my apparent lack of comprehension is nobody's business and the same applies to my judgment of hospitals or me "foolishly" spending money on medical care or for whatever.

for me, any "yada yada outside Pattaya is cheaper and the savings pay for many bottles of Chang" is irrelevant and that applies especially to wasted time driving to Sri Racha or Sattahip and then waiting for a doctor or for medical care.

Hmmm. If you wanted to say "I would rather pay more at BPH than spend 15 extra minutes in a car to go somewhere cheaper" why not just say so, instead of trying to pretend that there is some real difference in the treatment at BPH compared to cheaper places? Personally I rather enjoy the drive to Sri Racha and a wander around Robinsons afterwards, and I am in absolutely no hurry to do anything at all so this isn't an issue for me.

As for waiting, it has already been pointed out by others that you can wait just as long for treatment/appointments at BPH as anywhere else, if not more so. Indeed this was in fact the whole basis of the thread. Maybe you were too busy making appointments to actually read the thread before commenting?

For what it's worth I had a general check-up at Sri Racha booked and it started the second I arrived, and it continued without any breaks (apart from breakfast) until the whole procedure was finished several hours later. Short of having someone stand-in for me for some of the tests I dont see how anywhere else could have possibly done it more efficiently or quickly. My various dental appointments there have also all started bang on time and have continued to the end without any hold-ups.

Is the hospital you are talking about that is in Sri Racha Phyathai Hospital?

Gold priced in yen hit a 32-year high today.

A closer look at the chart shows a more precarious position. The short-term chart narrowly ticked above the February high after a false breakout to the downside early last week. Oftentimes false-breakout reversals can be extremely powerful but until it gets comfortably above the February high, it’s not quite fair to bet that it will continue surging.

I have been a gold bear for awhile but the non-farm payrolls report takes away the near-term risk of Fed tapering and is likely to lead to a continued rally.

  14. Here is a post where I rather pitifully encourage OTHERS to post their restaurant snippets in the spirit of this eclectic Pattaya area restaurant thread!

Yes, I see it has turned into a kind of blog written by moi. That was NOT my intention but without your participation, it is what it is.

I for one appreciate what you are doing on this thread. Whether others post reviews or not, I hope that you will continue.

Comex Gold Inventories Collapse By Largest Amount Ever On Record

April 9, 2013 | By Tekoa Da Silva

Over the last 90 days without any announcement, stocks of gold held at Comex warehouses plunged by the largest figure ever on record during a single quarter since eligible record keeping began in 2001 (roughly the beginning of the bull market). See chart below.

  16. I am waiting for the stock market correction/crash, whenever that will happen, i have patience.

At that moment lots of margin calls, and paper gold will be sold dropping the price considerable.

Same for silver. People diversify but when one of their parts in a 'basket' is going down compensation from other parts is needed.

    Same story for silver.

I have set my buying triggers on 25US$ (i might lower this to 20US$ if the current trend continues) for silver, gold around 1100US$.

I only buy physical, no use for paper certificates as has been proven lately by banks unable to deliver. ABN in the Netherlands did that a few days ago.

Why would gold or silver get cheaper at the moment the equity markets crash.

I think at that particular point the price of these metals rise.

They get weaker as everyone margin calls and sells off any asset they can to cover margins. Gold and silver will take big hits if the US equities market crashes.

  17. I show the lows on gold so far today at 1540. I call that a break of the 1550 level. Of course we have not had a daily close below 1550 but the day isn't over yet. I fear if 1550 doesn't hold then we are down to the 1522 area that we have tested a couple times over the past few years. This would make a 3rd test at it and although I'm sure it would bounce on the test it has a high probability of breaking through and further drops are to be expected. I am seeing many headlines that the gold run is over. "end of an era" and stuff like that. Part of me thinks that is a bullish sign when the MSM starts calling gold's bull market over but I still think we will see another leg down to the 1300's or lower before we get back on the bull run.

    just my 2 cents

  18. Coincidental timing or BIG APRIL FOOLS?

27 pages of this? There's certainly no shortage of fools on ThaiVisa this month.

yes and most of the "fools" are the ones having to tell everyone this is a April fools gag.

Good to see that someone read through all 27 pages to find out what most of the comments were about. I certainly didn't.

Since you didn't bother reading the thread, nice of you to call so many of the TVF users "fools".
