I had exactly the same problem when I ordered a phone through Amazon. The phone arrived in Thailand and I got the exact same email from the carrier. I did some checking first and just like an earlier post mentioned, the problem is that the phone has to be on the approved NBTC list. If it isn't, then you will need to get a license from NBTC to get it in. I simply called Amazon and told them that they should have known not to ship this to Thailand and that I refused to accept that I had to go figure out how to import it. Amazon told me that they would work with the carrier to get it returned. I then turned around and told the carrier (via return email) that Amazon agreed to take it back and that it would work with them to accomplish that. I left it there and a few days later, I got the refund from Amazon. Let the carrier deal with Amazon and the local authorities to figure it out. Amazon has a lot of clout with the carriers and whatever they want done, the carriers will have to do. Good Luck !

Hey, after talking to some brokers I'm following this advice. They want an insane amount of money.

Amazon rep told me that they will contact UPS and try to get them to return it and that I should check my tracking by Wednesday to see if it's changed. UPS was trying to tell me that I can't have it shipped back to Amazon without an NBTC license. It's all a grift to get more money, so sad.

Wrong. You do not want to select Choice 3. It sounds like you didn't read what Choice 3 says on the paper. TH customs DOES NOT send your item back, they "abandon" it. Which mean they keep it. Therefore you will lose all of your money. Their Choice 3 is a stupid policy. I had this exact same problem with a gamer unit called X-Box. Here's something else you might not know. Everyday you wait the storage fees go up, as custom charges you for storage until you handle everything with them. Plus there are a bunch of other fees too. I had to turn it all over to a 3Rd Party Custom Broker. And when everything was done, it cost me way too much money, more then what the product was worth. I wished I would of listened to my son and just purchased the item locally. I wish you good luck, as Customs is a pain to deal with.

You also dealt with NBTC for an Xbox?? Or do you just mean Thai customs in general?

Just wondering, I would assume the phone you ordered here is a model not marketed or available for purchase in Thailand?

Been looking myself--just yesterday even--at some Moto phones on Amazon that are not sold here. The listings show an 'import duties  deposit' in addition to the product price. That implies there should be no problem buying the phone and having it shipped, that everything will be OK. But not so it seems. Kind of a drag, for sure, with a phone stuck in 'customs limbo'. If you don't mind my asking, which Samsung model did you order from Amazon?

s24 ultra so yes it's in TH. I gave them the model number in the email and they told me that the model number is not on the NTBC list.... so I would need a license or something like this.... lol

Exact same happened to me, even same letter when 3 phones were mailed to me from the states. Had an Thai call UPS, and they gave a broker's number and I had to send a copy of my passport, and and declare a value for the phones. wasn't that hard, and really not that expensive.

Hey bill, thanks for the info, could you elaborate a bit on your situation? You had a Thai call the Thai UPS for you, on one of their phone numbers here -https://www.ups.com/th/th/support/contact-us.page is this correct? So I suppose you emailed UPS that you wanna go with option 2? How much was the value of the 3 phones and how much did you have to pay for this roughly?

If you can wait, get the phone when you go back, less hassles...

Waiting is no problem. What do you suggest, option #1 Where I do it myself or option #2 where I get a broker? What is cheaper? I can go to DMK customs office in a few days but I do not know what I need. Keep in mind I do not know what I'm doing when it comes to this, I can show them my passport and my order on amazon but I don't know about any BS like NBTC licenses or any other kind of licenses. I thought it'd be a simple delivery like my previous amazon orders where it just gets delivered to my condo with no problem.

  6. I've ordered stuff from Amazon with no issues from Customs because Amazon always took care of the customs issues. I ordered a new phone from Amazon and I got this email from UPS. I obviously have no idea what I'm doing so I guess I should go with option #2 which is hiring a broker to do this for me. Any recommendations on companies I should use to help me get my phone? If it matters at all, I have a flight at DMK in a few days anyways so going to the customs office there is no issue if for some reason I need to go there. I attached a pic of the email I received from UPS.

Don't bother buying SSDs locally, they are insanely expensive or often, as you found, unavailable.

I bought the 2TB variant of the Samsung 990 from Amazon in August. They offered free shipping (took 8 days) and the import fee was only $17 - which a month later was refunded in full. So total cost was US$160.

Yea i ordered the 4tb 990 pro + a m.2 usb enclosure as I've seen that is what you need in order to clone from the old ssd to the new ssd. It's like $64 import fee that got added, and I used the normal shipping, it says estimated November 7 delivery, and I ordered on Oct 25. So, you're saying Amazon charged $17 for the import fee, and then refunded the whole $17, meaning you paid $0 for import? How long did it take for them to refund you?

No idea, I would only ever import from Amazon direct sales (not marketplace sellers) in the US as they handle the import taxes and appear to act as an agent.

For any other type of direct mailed import you may get a letter telling you to come along to customs somewhere with your passport and be subject to the import tax rip off in person - and if you don't pay then you don't get your item. Far too much hassle.

Wow thats great, I am on checkout screen on Amazon screen for 990 Pro 4TB, it's 13.8k THB total with priority shipping to my Bangkok condo. It's shipped by Amazon.com not a random seller, on the checkout screen it says: Sold by: Amazon Export Sales LLC

The import fees deposit on checkout screen is $64. Does this mean it basically covers all the customs costs and will refund me some of the money if the customs price is less than $64?

It's possible that the price was added to this site when the product was released, perhaps shoot them an email to clarify the pricing and maybe there's an update.

Things are often cheaper in the US but when they arrive they often come with plenty of taxes.

Do you have any idea about my Newegg question? I assume it'd be a hassle to receive items from them, but wondering if u or anyone else knows

  12. Thanks for the solution, they are overpriced af lol, it's about 10.8k baht($300) on Amazon.com - if anyone has a link to a better priced than the invadeit link, I'd appreciate that!

On a side note, I also saw that Newegg delivers to Thailand, but its about the same price as the invadeit link but Newegg ships from outside of Thailand I'm pretty sure, I'm not gonna order with Newegg but I'm just curious for future reference, how does Newegg orders work? Do Newegg deliver it right to your address in Thailand or do you have to deal with someone from customs calling you? I'm not sure how that process works as I've never ordered anything from outside of TH

  13. I want to upgrade my 2TB SSD in my laptop to a 4TB. I mainly am looking for a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB. I see all over places like Lazada, IT City, etc. for 1 and 2 TB versions but it seems borderline impossible to find any 4TB m.2 SSD's in Thailand. I would also accept a WD SN850X 4tb if that's available and the Samsung one isn't. Does anyone know if it's even possible to find 4TB SSD's in Thailand? I am in Bangkok if it matters

Why not just buy it in Thailand? Likely far cheaper unless you are getting it per medical insurance.. A clinic I use in CM has it for sale and yes, it is the real product. If they have it here, sure you could find it in Bangkok or Pattaya.

Can u link it here or dm me it? I saw some Chiang Mai site selling it, but its 8900 baht for 1mg, that's way overpriced when it can be got for $20-30 in US (with medical insurance)

To minimize risk of customs seizure you have to send USPS.

Delivery time depends on many factors including where they mail from, time of year, your lilocal postal service etc. 2 weeks would be rhe very fastest. 1 month more likely and can sometimes be more.

Thank u very much. So if I go ahead with this, I'd inform them to ship pens in a normal envelope to my Thai address, and it'd go in my mailbox inside my condo building, like when I receive the electric and water bills? I've never received snail mail before while in Thailand thats why I'm asking.

Would it be advisable for them to include a piece of paper with writing inside the envelope? Or just the pens only? How many pens maximum would you think is safe to send? Someone earlier said 2, but I'm wondering if like 5 would be ok?

  16. 14 minutes ago, Sheryl said:

As Lorry  said. Technically not legal but customs will often let very small quantities through if sent by regular mail.   Often, not always -- and an injectable may be more problematic than pills are.

Shipping costs will be small (just send regular air mail). As to time, it varies.  Where I live, in the sticks, the answer is often "never".  But probably better where you are.

I'll do snail mail then if I decide on having them ship to me, because its way too overpriced here. Can you answer the questions on my previous post that I asked him, regarding the shipping time and which shipping service to use? Is it like 2 weeks shipping from USA to bangkok, or like 1 month? Use USPS or is there something better?

  17. 41 minutes ago, Lorry said:

This should be in the health forum.

No, it's not legal. Import of medicine needs a permit which you won't get.

If your family sends it by courier (UPS, DHL...) it won't pass customs.

If they send it by snail mail and just 2 pens,  it may very well get through if it's not inspected.

Thanks for the info. Do you have any idea roughly how long it takes snail mail from USA to a condo in Bangkok? And also, how much it is, and the best service to use, I assume USPS?

  18. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding shipping medical supplies like Ozempic. My family uses Ozempic pens to help with weight loss and they get it for very cheap. In Thailand, the best I've seen so far online is 1mg pen for $257, while my family get it for like $20-30 in US.

So... is shipping Ozempic pens from US to my condo in Bangkok legal, or no?

You are on the wrong path.

The easiest to open (and for many foreigner the only type) is the savings account.

It has not much to do with what you might think it is.

JUST: no credit, no minus/in the red.

The full amount is available any time. Interest rates are a laughing stock.

You can send/receive money domestically, do payments, top-up prepaid phone, all in an instant.

At Bangkok Bank it comes with Mastercard (debit) which can be enabled for online purchase.

(I think they stopped trying to talk you up for Union Pay, Chinese system)

Real credit card is a separate topic.

I also recommend to have internet access and setup the mobile app.

This includes the cashless option of QR code payment and cardless withdrawal at any Bangkok Bank ATM nationwide without fee.

Thanks, I'm used to the US where you cant spend money in the savings account, and to use a debit card, it takes money out of your checking account.

Do you have an idea of what account I should get at bkk bank? https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Save-And-Invest/Save

I noticed that the one I was looking at - "basic banking account" requires you to be 65+ ? I am 27 and going to be studying Thai here on ED visa, so not working. Which account of the 7 accounts on this page do you think I should get? The Thai school is going to provide me with documents helping to get an account open fyi.

I have Bangkok Bank & SCB....

BB statements are clean = just the listed transactions with zip for additional fees....

SCB has fees out the wazoo.... There's always some bank processing fees listed....

Admittedly, I didn't "shop" accounts when I signed on....Meaning one might have given me a beneficial account, while the other might have signed me on to the most adventitious type of account for their own bank/purposes....

Thanks, what is your account type at Bangkok Bank? I'm looking at the "basic bank account" https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Save-And-Invest/Save/Basic-Banking-Account

Not sure what is the best account option for me. I want no fees, and just a debit card. I don't care about saving accounts
