  1. and auto drivers do the same, hanging on the center line, driving under the speed limit, while others are trying to pass, which is a lack of consideration, or, not being a safe driver and checking mirrors while you drive? What would be the main reason you don't trust foreign (every other country?) drivers? If you are Thai, surely, if you just watch the daily news, where you see mainly, snakes in houses, gold theft, Covid updates, monks going haywire, and, the daily road carnage, where ,mostly Thais, are getting killed at the rate of 65 a day, not including those that go to the hospital and die, that the roads here are very unsafe. In fact, Thailand is always in the top 5 of daily fatal accidents worldwide. Every driver on earth makes these kinds of mistakes sometimes, from either inexperience or frustration, rushing to go somewhere. How many foreign drivers have hit or almost hit you, especially seeing that scooter drivers here cut off and weave around traffic, and play with fire? And auto drivers do the same, hanging on the center line, driving under the speed limit, while others are trying to pass, which is a lack of consideration, or, not being a safe driver and checking mirrors while you drive?
  2. "the arrogance of foreigners in Thailand - they are <deleted> drivers yet think it is the others - how bad can you get"?................. This was your first reply. It show's prejudice, and racism. Your comment on foreigners, shows you are Thai, or at least Asian. I am not prejudiced in any form, having a Thai ex wife, a Thai girlfriend, and a half Thai child. Sticking up for Thais is one thing. Sticking up for people just because they are Thai, and are doing wrong, is another thing entirely. Thai drivers , as far as many, have proven themselves as dangerous, incompetent, arrogant and inconsiderate, as far as observation from myself and many others, and the stats about fatal roads deaths have proven. A lot of people thought Hitler, Putin, Pol Pot and just about every other narcissistic leader, were trying to help the public. History shows different. This is from your last post.............................." the fact that all you can do is quote a dictionary shows that you are just not up to debating this topic. Just like on other threads your thinking is below par" heres's other definition "Simply put, an immigrant is a person living in a country other than that of his or her birth. No matter if that person has taken the citizenship of the destination country, served in its military, married a native, or has another status—he or she will forever be an international migrant."....................................You quoted a dictionary, just like you said he did. You've said my reading and comprehension skills weren't good, yet your grammar is atrocious. Debating if one is an immigrant or non immigrant is a waste of time. Who cares? This topic is about a foreigner that, drunkenly it seems, made a fatal mistake that killed others. he should be punished JUST like Thais are that kill others while driving under the influence, period..
  3. And your guess would be an uneducated one, because like I said, I don't make opinions, because they aren't valid. No one knows everything, but some are educated on various subjects to the point where they are more knowledgeable than the average person. As far as my reading and comprehension skills, you haven't a clue, being a daily reader after leaving high school. Going back to your first reply, what did I say about road safety that was wrong? I drove over 45 thousand miles a year, sometimes a lot more, and saw, and still see, what's happening on the roads, along with daily news coverage that shows accidents, stats and facts about road safety and what's necessary to maintain it. Where's the base of your claim, besides prejudice?
  4. Actually, I don't assume nor make opinions on anything, but state from statistics, facts and personal experience. Yes, many people are arrogant, but that doesn't make them bad drivers. Bad drivers come from lack of experience, drivers tests that are too easy, mild punishment for broken laws, lack of enforcement of said laws, corruption which leads to that lack of enforcement, distraction while driving, You make blanket statements about bad foreign drivers, thinking you know how many there are, and that drivers here are somehow better. Stats here say most of the accidents, especially fatal, are local drivers. Foreigners make the news because we are a minority, and stand out. What I stated was from watching the news in the US over 62 years, and riving there for 45 years. I've known many people who have driven for all of their lives and haven't had one accident. I myself have had a few, all but one of which were the other drivers fault, hitting me in the back or side. That one was me driving on snow when I was 17. I stay away from everyone , especially here, but still I get cut off daily, with scooter drivers making really bad decisions competing with a car, which is why a lot die here. There are millions of accidents yearly in every country, but this country is always at the top for fatal deaths, and for the reasons I stated before.
  5. Been driving over 2 1/2 million miles, way over the 700K the average drivers do, and in almost all US states, Mexico, and here, and sorry to say, this country definitely has the worse drivers I've ever seen. Most people I've known in 66 years are pretty safe, defensive drivers, mainly because the tests in the US are a lot harder than here, the education level is far higher, and if you break the laws, you are penalized with money, the thing that hurts the most, or in the case of drunk drivers, can lose your license for up to a year.. Foreigner accidents here are a tiny percentage of what happens annually.
  6. Speak for yourself, and not the rest of us here please. How many farangs do you actually "know" personally, where you can make such an ignorant statement? I mean, that you see on a daily basis, so you can actually comment on how they act? I came here to give my ex narcissist wife, and daughter, a better life. Sorry to say, I believed the wrong woman, but I'm still here until I can leave with my daughter. I know quite a few farangs here, and all are, as I see them, dedicated husbands to their wives. Most everyone here drinks, as it's one of the most boring places, as far as the country areas, to live on earth. In every country there are people making stupid mistakes. Here, a farang gets news because they stand out. Doing things that are done daily by locals.
  7. If you are stopped at a light, and anyone runs into you, they are at fault, period. Unless the judge was completely corrupt or plainly an idiot, the person moving is wrong, and has to pay for damages. If this happened, an inquiry should have been opened, and a higher authority involved to decide. I know this is Thailand, and way behind in a lot of things, but letting a judge get away with this is ludicrous. Same thing if someone hits you in the back. They are always at fault, unless you jammed on the brakes intentionally, and let them run into you, which has to be proven, and is pretty much impossible. A driver that runs into anyone ahead of them is following too closely, and any good lawyer can end that debate, along with the previous one. As far as anyone spending time in jail for this offense, to be charged with a crime, intoxication or under the influence of drugs is the only way. This man made a deadly mistake, and his conscious, if he has one, will bother him for the rest of his life.
  8. In America, and yes, this isn't near western standards, the man would be mostly responsible for turning into straight moving traffic. The insurance would cover the accident and any medical, and no money would be exchanged, nor a jail sentence, unless the driver was intoxicated. The girls should have been driving slower, wearing helmets, and only had one passenger on the scooter, which would probably have saved their lives, along with the driver having a license, if she didn't have one. A lot of drivers here wouldn't be driving in that case. Very sad this happens daily here, and won't change until the laws are enforced by the police, and the government making sure they do.
  9. Actually, the reasons why are long standing prejudice, jealousy, hatred that some of their women marry them, insecurity, and a hatred from higher ups that western ways will take over and the people will revolt, wanting to live with more freedom. This is news because it's a foreigner, and doesn't take away the fact that there are an average of 65 deaths daily on the roads that are attributed to drunk, incompetent drivers and the lack of enforcement of laws on the books.
  10. I did say there were times it's necessary, but with a varied diet and none of the things I mentioned, it isn't necessary. Vegans follow a vegan diet, which isn't varied enough to get all of the essential nutrients, unless you really know what you're doing as far as getting all the essential amino acids and micro nutrients. Adding vitamins won't hurt, unless you overuse those I listed. I used to use all kinds of supplements, and haven't for many years now, and see no difference, but I do make sure I get a variety of all types of foods, and almost all of them are very healthy. Vitamin D is surely necessary, especially if you don't get out in the sun much, and again, if you have a disorder.
  11. There is no replacement for a healthy diet, and yes, malabsorption is one factor where you don't get all you need from the food you eat, caused mostly by other diseases that are preventable, and for some, from genetic diseases, infections from parasites, and lactose intolerance. Multivitamins for those without these conditions, some of which come from an unhealthy lifestyle, aren't necessary, as a good diet can be researched and followed. That part is up to the person themselves. Not eating a varied diet, which has been promoted for a century, is up to you, and although there are many ways a person gets sick, an unhealthy varied diet is the main culprit, together with a lack of exercise. Vitamin supplementation ,prescribed by a nutritionist and not a general practitioner, may help some , and there are arguments on both sides, but then testing is required as they might interfere with other things you really need..................https://www.eatthis.com/news-taking-multivitamin-every-day-body-effect/
