  1. We had an additional storage room (10 sq meters) built using the cement wall/fencing as the lower half of the storage wall, and board on the top half (The board isn't wood, I think its some synthetic/cement like substance, snaps really easy). It appears the sealant between the board+cement wall has weakened a lot after 1 year. Water came in from the recent rain storms, and we can see sunlight coming through some cracks. I'm guessing it's because of the heat, as some of our stored items had their plastic parts disintegrate (like some of the plastic clips on luggage crumbled). There is a 4-inch gap between the roof and top of the wall, so airflow is possible, but perhaps needs an additional exhaust fan... Don't want to fix this every single year. Just once and forget about it. Is there a particular sealant recommended or other thing I should try?
  2. To really understand being called "farang", requires an understanding of Thai language & culture where its common for dozens of pronouns for the same person depending on the scenario, context, age difference. This concept doesn't really exist in western language to the extent it does in Thai. This might be why it sounds offensive to the ears and throws some folks for a nasty spin. In America, I've never been called "customer" before, but here its possible (something like khun luukkha). I see complete strangers calling others "uncle" (loong), "aunt" (pa), or if you're really old dta/yai (grandpa/grandma).... This is absolutely not normal in english, and would probably offend many westerners in the group if they were called "Uncle" or "Grandpa" by a stranger, but in Thailand its 100% legit and not-offensive.
  3. I find it a bit odd that every Thai registered company's financial statements are available in an online database. Is there any way to keep these financial records private? I can see a scenario where a future-competitor is able to see how well your product/service, or geographical location is.
  4. This photo doesn't look right. After 1 Pfizer, there should be an additional FULL DOSE mRNA shot, not a booster. It should be noted that a "booster" is not a full shot. It is 50%. I see many using "Third Dose" and "Booster" interchangeably when they are quite different. As far as I know, those with 2 mRNA full dose shots, are recommended a half-dose mRNA shot (a booster). Those with 2 non-mRNA full dose shots are often recommended a full-dose mRNA shot However, I also know a few Thais and expats with 2 non-mRNA full dose shots who were recommended 2 full-dose mRNA shots.
  5. I'm on a 2-year Smart Visa which expires mid next year. Now that the borders are opening, quarantine hotels reduced to 1 night, and finally have 2 doses of Pfizer, was hoping to make a quick visit to the USA for a week in December. Is it possible to confirm my re-entry back into Thailand before I leave? Or does that all have to happen while I'm overseas at a USA consulate?
  6. Any recommendations for agencies that will ship personal items from USA to Chiang Mai via LCL (Shared) Shipping Container? Prefer low cost rather than speed. I have 500 lbs of: books / clothing / computer / electronics / music instruments / sports equipment / memorabilia, roughly 300-400 cubic feet sitting in a storage unit in the USA the past 3 years. Theres a memory foam mattress too if thats possible to ship. I'm wondering what paperwork needs to be done, rough total cost, will my old personal items be subject to import duties? Does anything need special treatment before shipping for example: does ikea wood furniture or a mattress need to be specially fumigated? Thanks in advance
  7. Is Chiang Mai the first Thai city to lower the expat age to 40 for Pfizer vaccines?
  8. @recom273 Thanks for the tips. I'm also running a Jellyfin (and Emby) server. Been using Emby App only for the LG TV, and Jellyfin App for everything else. Been very pleased that it can organize non-tv related content like school courses too. Yeah, my main gripe (first world problems) is I can easily get 10 seasons in 1080P of a show with 2 clicks, but to share the TV experience with my Thai wife, finding that same content with Thai, has been a bit of a headache downloading episodes one-by-one, When we tire of Netflix, we've wanted to watch HBO (Game of Thrones, Lovecraft Country), Amazon (The Boys), and Disney (Mandalorian). I will check the opensubs.org db. If its easy enough to get the matched MKV file with the same name, then the subtitles should align perfectly without any tweaking. Cheers!
  9. Thanks! I received a 2nd Pfizer appointment as well next month. This is very well organized. Pleasantly surprised. Now, I only wish I could help my Thai wife get Pfizer. Her prepaid Moderna booking has been pushed by the hospital for early next year.
  10. Is the 2nd dose of Pfizer guaranteed? Are people already getting their 2nd dose after 3-4 weeks?
  11. We have a pipe or shower faucet that whistles like crazy when it is off. After we open the faucet at max for 20 seconds and let a bunch of water out, the noise stops. This temporarily fixes the problem for a few hours / days /or weeks when the problem randomly comes back. Just some preliminary google research says the noise is caused by a pocket of air as a result of a broken seal where the faucet connects? Should I just remove the faucet, reseal it again with silicone tape, or silicone glue, and put the old faucet back on? or should I replace the entire faucet too? OR could there be a different solution to the problem? Note: The faucet isn't leaky or damp, works 100% normal.
  12. https://doo4k.tv/ fanseries.co nungsub.com .....theres many more like these
  13. Found a few Thai sites that burn the Thai subtitles into the tv shows so the subs are perfectly aligned, but the catch is the files or tv-streams must be downloaded one at a time...its a hands-on babysitting process to get a whole season. Is there an easier method or other source to download the shows with Thai subs?
  14. Thank you for all that info! Yes, my friend's employer is "supposedly" part of that same private-sector sinopharm scheme, but none of the employees have heard back yet despite registering for it a month ago... Either they didn't get in, or its a very slow roll out with poor communication....
  15. Thanks! we will give them a call. Interesting about Krungsri bank employees. thats exactly what I've been hearing about the private sector having their own roll-out. Interestingly, some other organizations I'm in touch with were promised the exact same thing for their 200+ employees, but still haven't received any updates. Strange.
  16. Thanks, yes we heard the same SinoPharm pricing would arrive to Chiang Mai this month, but so far no word... Hope this comes to fruition and not an imaginary idea.
  17. Thank you. Yes I see the Sinovac + AZ has been in motion for a few weeks now at McKormic for over 60/70, medical conditions, pregnancy. There is also a different rollout with 2-doses of SinoPharm that is due to start in CM soon. I think maybe this is being organized through the private sector only, not sure.
  18. In July there was word that SinoPharm would be deployed in August in Chiang Mai and required pre-registration. Has anyone heard any news on this yet? Has it happened already, not at all, or is it currently being rolled out?
  19. Yes this is what I’m wondering too. will there be 2 batches, or did everyone get delayed together. Has any October appointments been confirmed yet?
  20. Princ Hospital (not a typo, thats the actual English spelling)
  21. Are any hospitals on track to receive Moderna in October or has everyone's reservations been pushed back? We just got our SMS today from the private hospital we pre-registered in June, to pay and officially register for the Moderna jab expected to arrive in early next year.
