  1. Thailand has rules.

Those rules are written to allow wealthy people in,

Thailand has a take care of Thailand first attitude.

They allow a lot of older people with no desire to

compete in the workplace in who can show

minimum amounts of cash, so they won't be a

    burden to Thailand.

They also allow needed workers with special skills.

The rules do slide a little from yr to yr but they keep

the bottom line, they do not want someone who is

going to compete with Thai people for jobs and they

try to avoid allowing those who can not fully support their self

with out depending on government services.

Now like anywhere folks try or do bend the rules.

It is not a good plan to count on staying here if

you don't fit in the written rules, I don't understand

    why you would try.

Bottom line you can't build a good life , living on the

    edges of a system.

":Make a new plan Stan" go back where ever and get the BA

or what ever is required to legal to stay here.

Other wise every year, every job change, every day

you are living a life you can lose in the blink of an eye.

You are about the 10,000th person to ask, how can I

skirt the laws and live here, you are nothing new and

    not alone.

Sorry, that is the way it is and it will stay that way.

If you married someone from your own country would you GIVE them lotascash? My western partner contributed half of all expenses, my Thai wife nothing.

I was married for 40 yrs, until her death, in the USA.

Actually, well, she did contribute some and she did cost a lot

of our monies getting 2 college degrees she never used..

My Thai wife has a very, very good job and salary for a female in

    Thailand.

Yes, my intent is help her save for the day she has to leave her job

due to age or company regulations.

I would hate to see her end up selling pop at a road side stand,

she is a good person and a good family person.

I don't mind at all make her my total beneficiary and help her save.

It is our money until I die and I expect that will be 20+ yrs before her death.

What am going to do, eat money?

and I thought a wife didn't need to be paid for every year- true love and all that.

    ????

If you really care about someone, it is very common to think about

and help make plans for their future welfare.

Your old age monies in Thailand are completely your own responsibility.

Perhaps you have no understanding of "true love" at all.

    As well as anything else.

  4. Well, my hope for the vaccine is that the same Thai family

that the contract for Rabies Vaccine for many years in Thailand

does not have finger in this one.

If you remember that bunch was cutting Rabies vaccine with 50%

    water to double their profits.

If Thailand ever got serious about ending corruption, they would

pass informant laws , like whistle blower laws.

Not the kind where informants go to prison, but instead got

25% of any fines or saving to the government for blowing

    a whistle on corruption.

Corruption would end in one year.

Right now you can go to prison for saying a hotel does

    not provide clean sheets.

Never forget, the government didn’t invite you to retire here.  Your girlfriend/wife/lover did.

No the government did actively did provide enticements for people to

    retire here.

This is common in many parts of the world.

Sure they only want the ones with money to spend,

but they do hold the door open to them.

And if 90% of retirees and second home people

were to drag up and leave

it would leave a big hole to be filled.

According to these statistics they are not...

    https://fullfact.org/crime/robbery-uk-world-leader/

The UK overtook the US in 2017.

But in any case you could try banning guns in the US. Good luck with that.  If even 10% of people refused, you would still have millions of firearms in circulation, and I can guarantee that more than 10% of gun owners would refuse.   So realisticallly another solution is needed.

The whole gun banning thing didn't work out too well in Australia when they tried after a mass shooting. There is little evidence that it had any effect other than to disarm the population.

Maybe they should ban ammunition, no more to be sold in the USA.

  8. Watched Parasite last night, ok story, could happen in the first half,

the second half just got way out of control.

Sure watch it, it did win the Academy Award for best picture,

but I sure can't understand why.

Recently , The Highwaymen, The Big Short, WW2 in color on net flicks(interesting),

The Duel (lost me somewhere) (Judge Roy Bean was a better Texas ranger movie),

I kinda like a movie that has some history behind it.

Yes, before you had to go abroad to get certain visas , now, due to Corona , they can legally be issued from within Thailand  , buy the guys want paying off for doing what they are getting paid to do

Man you got a bug up your pooter tonight.

Don't come to Thailand thinking you have rights you don't pay for,.

Rich drunk rear ends a car killing 2, he heads to a Wat to do 2 weeks

as a novice monk, gets out spreads the baht around,

begs forgiveness , gets suspended sentence.

Pay your freight, and otherwise try to avoid contact with

    people in green uniforms.

    That is the rule.

  10. 8 minutes ago, CorpusChristie said:

No, they cannot privately sell visas at an extortionate rate and they also have to follow rules in regards  to who is eligible to receive visas .

They cannot sell visas for a higher rate , well they do, but thats against the rules and illegal

    5555, now you catch on.

No foreigner has to be here,

you want to stay pay the freight.

You realize that this money goes in their pocket? The government pays their fuel.

It looks like every time they ask you for money you pay. Don't be surprised if in the future they create arbitrary problems with your application and offer to make this problem go away for a fee. People like you are the reason why many people have problems with legit requests.

You are full of crapolla, hiring a lawyer to make your case would be a

whale of a lot more, and would not change a thing for the next guy in line.

If you don't know that, you know much about Thailand.

With  30 % of a population , with certain jobs, expecting tea money

it would take wholesale firings and restaffing to even began to change it.

It is two months so you have time to transfer funds over , I also had a problem the bank took out 200 baht from my bank for the yearly charge of my Visa card leaving me 126.87 Bht short of the 800k I realised what had happened and made the difference up within 72 hours of them deducting the money and yet the IO on Samui refused to accept it fortunately I have two Thai bank accounts so they made me go back to the bank get another letter and statement of my other account all for the sake of 127 baht I even pointed out to them that I had maintained the 800k for the whole year but they were not interested I now make sure that I now have 801 k in my account had I not had that other account I would have had to wait for the borders to open and go through the whole process as they were adamant they were not going to help me in my hour of need

You silly person, for ease of operation, just bring the envelope the first time.

8 to 15 should be enough for speedy service.

Otherwise you will get picked over every time.

    three reasons

    - they couldn't give a       unless something is filling their pockets

    - they don't know how and there is no accountability

    - it would cost a lot of money even if they had a clue

Mostly right except costing a lot of money.

They could start simple with running red lights, then move into

    speeding.

Sure some poor Thais will be hurt, but something needs to be done.

These speeders, they need to hold the vehicle until the fine is paid

for anything more than 10 over the speed limit.

Until Thailand is will to make fines strong enough to hurt

    nothing will change.

A 500 baht fine is just stupid, start out at 3000 and go up

    from their.

Confiscate cars and property, then the word will get out quick.

Of course that would all depend on cops being honest and

stop taking bribes to let people go.

    Like that could happen.

  15. And worse than the driving, the insurance pay outs

are ridicules, if they pay out at all.

You get 1 take it or leave it offer.

You can try to sue, but you better have lots

of time and money before you start that.

Roads here are strictly a gamble,

    your life, money, and property.

If you win, you arrive safe,

if you lose, you lose big.
