Please don't tell me to ask the school, they aren't any help; that's a different story.
It seems to me that your school told you they have applied for a work permit, but don't show you any proof or receipt of that application.
That's why you want it to check yourself?
You can go check it at the local labour office.
Be noted that it is illegal to work without having applied for a WP by your school or you, and without the proper nonB visa.
So don't stir any waters at labour.
Secondly, they don't pay you what is agreed upon in the contract?
Labour might be able to check that, or intervene. If you are not working illegally....
Lastly, if you seem to have 2 problems already, why the <deleted> would you even consider working there?
It's not gonna get better.
It'll probably get worse after you complain about them stealing 10k of the already low salary.
Good luck with it.

$35= 1,057 baht so 443 baht dif or almost $15!!!
I've always paid in $ ( same for Cambodia)
Yeah like i said, a difference of a few hundred baht.
But thanks for letting us know you always pay in $
A really constructive post.

From my experience, it's better to buy the Laos visa at the border.
It's no hassle. Just fill in the provided application form, add 1 pic, and pay.
Fastest queue days are Tuesday and wednesday.
It's quoted as 35$ for Belgians.
In Thai Baht you have to pay 1,500
It's a difference of a few hundred Baht.
When you pay in USD, they give you an unfriendly look and let you wait to collect it for like half an hour.
If you pay THB, it's all friendly done in 10 minutes.
When you come back to Thailand, you get a 30 day visa exempt stamp.
It's free.
If needed, you can extend it after 30 days for 30 more days at immigration in thailand for 1,900 baht.

They should change the name in:
"Not So Freedom Beach"
A whole parade of high ranking officials, arresting some food and drinks vendors...
For what? Tourists have to bring their own somtam???

Hello,
My initial Non-B visa will expire on February 9th.
I have my work permit already, and will have to go to Penang to apply for a new 1 year Non-B visa ME.
My question is:
If my paperwork is not fully complete before the 9th of February,
can I get a 1 month extension at immigration?
If yes, do I just need a standard application form, the same as for a tourist visa extension?
Or is it more complicated than that?
And, my work permit is valid for phuket and my rental registration is in Bangkok.
Could I apply in Bangkok for said extension, or only in Phuket?
(Note that there is no mention in my passport that I have a work permit)
I asked 3 persons at Chaengwattana today
The 1st one bluntly said she didn't know at all.
The 2nd one said I had to go to phuket for a 1 month extension
and the 3rd one said I could only get 7 days but could do it in BKK also
Thanks for any insights ????

It is not necessarily incorrect.
You arrive at say 17.30 on day 1 and you leave at 07.30 on day 12.
11 days and 12 nights.
Your are not here during the day on days 1 and 12.
(I will now have another beer and look at that again tomorrow ????)
Yeah, look at it again

Why are all the plants in pots? They gonna fall over when the plants reach 2m

"Made a hole in the roof"
What kind of a roof was that, if you can just get true in no time?
My condo ceiling would take at least 2 hours DRILLING
Do prison guards do their laundry at the prison?
And then dry it on the roof?
Seems like a "sabaai" work place
These 2 points don't make any sense to me.
200.000 offered for his capture.
That is a very high amount, for a minimal security prison
Maybe better invest that amount in concrete ceiling

Context is everything.
No one "owns" the parking space on a public road. Unless it is an enclosed area with security, it is still public.
It is wrong to mark it off full time.
But it is also wrong of your neighbors to not understand you have a delivery coming.
I personally hate it when there is no place to park, but there are cones and chairs spread all over the road.
Last time i just parked in front of the chairs, and took pictures of the people in the shop before i left my car.
After 10 minutes or so, nothing wrong with the car at all.
That being said, if they are really an annoyance...key the cars?

To the guys above blaming thai immigration:
There are rules in place for a reason.
If you cannot save 3000 baht in a year to just fly to malaysia, then maybe dont blame the thai requirements.
Failing 3 times to extend your visa should ring some bells, no?

Here's a number to show how ridiculous polls are:
1.277 citizens, out of 10.000.000
That is 0,01277 % of the BKK population (Rounded up 0,013 %)
Over 18 years old, let's say 5,000,000
Still not even 1%, not even 0,1% but only 0,03 %
What exactly is the use of polls if they cannot represent a small fraction of the populace?
Polls are opinion makers, and are used to drive an agenda.

@MarcB, good info and update. The last time I looked, Vernon's attorneys were planning to appeal based on the instructions given to the jury. In fairness, I'm not really following it too closely.
Two clarifications, if you have the info... Were Vern's attorneys working pro bono, or on a contingency basis? And will it be Vern paying the courthouse fees, or his attorneys?
Yes, they wanted to appeal, but then everyone decided to just sign an agreement.
For whatever reasons.
Vern's attorneys presented the case on a contingency basis, but basically ended up pro bono since he lost.
Courthouse fees are not the lawyers' responsibility, but that's between Vern and his lawyers' initial agreement.

There may be no attorney fees, but that doesn't mean no court costs. And the possibility of attorney fees being demanded from the other side. Plus, there will probably be appeals, and the specter of paying Musk's legal fees may come into play as an incentive to drop the matter.
It would be interesting to see how the agreement was worded, along with the final settlement.
I suspect the fat lady hasn't even warmed up yet, much less sung.
Musk and Vern signed an agreement.
Musk would not sue for lost legal fees. And Vern would not appeal the case verdict.
This case is closed.
Honestly, I think Musk didn't lose any money at all, besides courthouse fees.
It's his own legal team, right? Aren't they hired on a yearly basis or so, for all kinds of litigation.
Vern does not have to pay his lawyers, they were working pro bono, but he will have to pay the courthouse fees.

Yeah come on
They are turning to the spiritual realms to improve tourism, it's laughable.
Instead of pr
aying, maybe they could DO SOMETHING like a poster above mentioned.Revise their ridiculous visa system, stop closing bars at 1am,
have some real action against scams, taxi fees, double pricing systems,
have harsher law enforcement for attacks on tourists,
clean up the beaches!!!
and that's just a few REAL problems that keep tourism down
It is not the God of anti-tourism that has to be compelled

Big C asks for Passport when purchasing groceries
in General Topics
Posted
I was at the post office a while back to post some documents with EMS to another province.
They asked for my gf's ID-card. It is common practice for Thais and foreigners.
I dont know if they ask your ID card in Europe or elsewhere, but I see nothing wrong with it.
Every time we go to BigC, my gf gives her phone number.
It is the number registered on her BigC membership card, so the purchase gets registered to get points/discounts in the future.
That is for groceries. I never paid utility bills at bigC so I cant say if that also accounts to the BigC membership card.
I do pay utilities at 7 eleven and never have to show any ID or phone number.
That being said,
The OP's story is ridiculous.
I go to BigC weekly, and I never have to show my passport or any ID.
Nowhere at any mall for that matter.
I pay by K-debit card most of the time, and also cash.
(Nobody has ever asked me to show my ID each time I use my debit card, which is fundamentally wrong, because someone could use my stolen card...)
It even gets more ridiculous to keep asking for his ID after someone else (his gf) eventually paid or when he offered cash.
I fairly believe that it is NOT a new rule. And I do believe the cashier and manager were just idiots.
It's a supermarket, they sell things to people. I would even go further and call this racism. and harassment.
If I were him I'll let my gf video it whilst going on.
Ask my cards back, and say I will take my shopping somewhere else and they would lose a customer.
Like I said, I never encountered this before, but I would be furious!
Send a complaint to BigC's head office with that video
maybe get a BS apology in broken English and a free 100 Baht coupon with 1 week expiry date.
