When passengers check in, airlines must check whether they had visited Covid-19 epidemic areas in the previous 14 days.

Airlines must require passengers to present health certificates issued no more than 72 hours before the  flight departs. The certificates must guarantee that the passengers are free of Covid-19, regardles where they board.

Airlines must also require that passengers have insurance covering Covid-19 treatment in Thailand, up to at least US$100,000.

Passengers who fail to present the required documents must not be allowed to board their flight to Thailand.

I have already a ticket booked for next month to fly from   STATES.    few q-

1)-Can i get a refund from the airlines  stating that now thailand is asking  insurance and certificate ?

2)-I have a kaiser insurance does that qualify for a covid insurance ?

Im amazed at how many comments at how stupid he is.  As an american citizen I dont think its stupid at all.   If given the opportunity to do a clean swap on citizenship from US to Thai, i would thoroughly consider.  The US government is becoming ever more oppressive, the education system is in shambles, and freedoms are quickly disappearing.   I understand that many have been indoctrinated by the schools in the US to believe the country is something that its not.  But at minimum you would think this person knows more about their own situation than the keyboard warriors here on TV.

the expectation to get everything free is pushing a  lot of americans thinking grass is green on the other side.

The vast majority of people who obtain a second citizenship are not wealthy. They get a second citizenship through bonafide residency in foreign countries. The $2400 fee was instituted about 5 years ago because too many expats were renouncing and the government wanted to stop this trend. Before this, the fee to renounce was only around $300, and that was deemed insufficient to penalize citizens wanting to renounce.

The only reason I keep my US citizenship is because A) my mother has not died yet and I want to attend her funeral, and B) because the fee is prohibitively expensive. So I put up with the unreasonable burdens that US citizenship forces upon you. Once my mother is dead, I will probably find a way to come up with the money to renounce, although this really is a hefty amount for me in my present situation, and it angers me that I will be forced to give this to the US government rather than direct it to my children's education where it rightfully belongs.

I congratulate Udom for finally achieving what most of us wish we could. If anyone knows him, let him know that I would be happy to meet up with him and offer a toast in his honor.

these days illegal immigrants are getting  free medicare in california -

as you are a usa citizen why not keep it at least to get social security/medicare  .

Funny to see people say that he is indoctrinated by the Thai educational system into liking Thailand so much, while in the same post saying that the USA is the greatest country in the world.

I doubt many Scandinavians would want to have American citizenship, unless they are tremendously wealthy. And i think many Americans would love the "free" healthcare and education of scandinavian countries. Don't get me wrong, the USA must be a great place when you have a roof over your head, a job, an education, and health insurance (and are white), but not everybody has those things...

nobody knows down the line what happens but as of now  without america the whole world will become a big pile of dog poop

I have to agree. I'm on extensions based on retirement. The requirements have changed over the years. I now have a 1 mill FD account to keep things simple.

Previously I needed stuff all. 800k in Thai bank 3 month prior then I just lived off that. Last about 6-7 month. Easy days.

If I was 50 I would buy the 20 year EV option.

Not a brag just good option is you have the dosh.

what type of Visa you are now  if you are not 50.

    1. A return flight is not needed, but you may need an onward flight booking out of Thailand. This requirement depends on the individual consulate, but is needed more often than not.

    2. The local guarantor is not needed for a tourist visa. Just leave this blank.

    3. A hotel booking may or may not be compulsory. Again, this depends on the consulate. If needed, it is pretty easy to make an online booking that allows free cancellation later.

    4. Invitation is not needed for a tourist visa.

Some consulates may want to see a bank statement.

If you state where you plan to apply, we may be able to give firmer advice.

my nearest thai consulate is  Los Angeles ,Ca  so I am planning to apply from LA .

  9. Hi ,

I have been visiting Thailand since few years.  ( last year i went 4 times with american passport)  and on 4th time i was stopped by immigration office asking me to come next time with tourist visa .

So this time I prepare to travel with a tourist visa  - and while going thru this visa process I run into few question .  appreciate your help on this -

1-I have booked the onward ticket to thailand .  but I dont have a return ticket as normally around end of 2 months I travel to a diferent country and  the tickets are generally much cheaper to buy when in thailand .

2-on visa application ther is a local guaranteer name/details - Do I need to provide this as I may find any convenient homestay once i am in thiland.

3-hotel ticket - i have not booked it .  Is this mandatory.

4-invitation  -   I do not have any invitation even though I travel many times to thailand .

by the way so far only these are the issues that i come across but please advise me on any other that I need to be aware of .

    Thank you all.
