  2. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Want to renew my driving lisence from the 2 year to 5 year one. Was on the booking sites but they're all full in the Bangkok area until end of June or July. Does anyone know if they allow walk ins currently or is it by appointment only?
  3. Hi My friend just did his usual visa run across the border and back again, but this time, the immigration person stated they were coming and going from Thailand too much and noted it in their system about this, they sounded quite threatening apparently and sounds like they won't to bar him from doing the visa runs in the future. Has anyone experienced this recently? I know many people have been doing visa runs for donkey years, so I was surprised to hear this, are they trying to stop visa runs these days?
  4. I recently had the same problem and had to forfeit my flight because I didn't get my stamp in time. (if I wanted to leave and come back in I would have entered without the visa since it would have expired). It only took me 2 weeks from submitting to getting the stamp though, so it didn't take too long. Hopefully it works out for you.
  5. I mean, even if she was a spoiled chick etc, does it warrant the 27k THB blackmail? Everyone knows the Thai police extort, they were just called out this time and it's made the news and causing more loss of face, so they're trying anything to deflect blame. They deserve every ounce of ridicule and disrespect.
  6. Got a Kovet one for about 1000 THB less during the Christmas sales period Thai brand but I've been buying them for years, never had much issues, reliable and also their customer service team speaks good english so support has been fantastic compared to other companies who rely on thai speakers mostly, even Makita and DeWalt thailand struggle in that aspect.
  7. Hi, I have a marriage visa Non-O 1 year and got the multi entry permit too. Let's say I got my new visa on Jan 1st. I'm leaving the country Feb 10th Then returning again on Feb 20th. Do I still do my 90 day report by April 1st (i.e count from Jan 1st) or can I now do it on May 21st? (i.e 90 days from Feb 20th) If the latter and if I exit the country every other month for work, does that mean I don't ever have to 90 day report? Thanks
  8. Hi all I have a marriage visa which I have renewed once before. This year its due to expire on Jan 3rd, but I've stupidly booked my flight for Jan 11th returning to Thailand Jan 15th for business. So basically I can't renew otherwise I won't have my passport for 30 days. I was planning on not renewing, then perhaps move my flight so I leave the country around Jan 3rd then come back in on a tourist visa, and whilst in the country try and renew my marriage visa again. Will this work? Also is there any way I don't move my flight and try and leave Jan 11th instead? Is there any leeway about the visa expiring? I know previously they give you like 14 days to get it done post expiration so technically I'd have until Jan 17th but I'm not sure if that's just my brains wishful thinking clouding my memory
  9. You can try to get a physio, they're very good at getting you to excercise the right way for you (adapt to your age and ability, and build you up at the right speed). There's quite a lot of private physio services.
  10. @Sheryl Child C here isn't about childhood, it's the grading system for liver disease - suggesting it was very severe cirrohsis secondary to Hep B https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child–Pugh_score When you look at his Child score, it's suggested he only had around a 50% chance of surviving the year in the best case scenario. The clinical reads more likely that he suffered from sepsis (from a source of infection - unclear origin from notes), which lead to rapid decompensatory liver failure and subsequent multiorgan failure in my opinon @Sheryl I have refrained from commenting previously due to lack of information and I didn't want to spread more misinformation, but my suggestion is for many people to be careful what they post (not directed at you Sheyl), especially since I've seen quite a few anecdotal comments both in this thread and quite a few others recently, so I think we have to be very careful about what we allow on the sub, as well as remind people to sign post what are their opinions and what are actual facts and the way they phrase them Bill - sorry to hear about your brother in law and best wishes to your family Your friendly neighbourhood surgeon

  12. UK surgeon here The size of the stone is large. But as someone else mentioned in the thread, when its that large there's actually a smaller chance of it going down the ducts as the first duct it has to get into is usually only 2-5mm in diameter. But this isn't the only thing you should be thinking about. Common complications of gallstones can be pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) and inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis), which can both be life-threatening, and should not be taken lightly. It's for this reason surgeons recommend taking the gallbladder out. To put it simply, you have a landmine in your body, it might never go off/it might never be triggered, but if it does, there's a chance you might die. On the other hand, you could have a surgery (which does have its own risks but usually considered lower than leaving a gallbladder that has gallstones) to remove the bomb. There are, of course, other bits of information you need to understand and consider about lifestyle adjustment if you choose not to remove your gallbladder and its consequences or after you've had your gallbladder removed also. Everyone assesses risk and risks to their mortality differently, but also quality of life. Try and speak with a surgeon who's willing to give you a full picture of both outcomes, be as well informed as possible - try and think far into the future rather than just the instantaneous should i have surgery or not, think about 10 years, 20 years from now, what does that mean. For example, let's say you're 40 now, you don't want the surgery, ok, you're fine for 20 years. Now you're 60 you have a massive gallbladder attack, perforation, now it's an emergency surgery, you're 60 and you have more co-morbities, your survival rate from the surgery has plummeted as your age has gone up and it's an emergency surgery as opposed to planned. From a surgical point of view, if you need a surgery, you should always plan it, what we call an elective surgery and get it done ahead of time. The mortality and outcomes are usually better, and you will likely have a better quality of life afterwards. Waiting until the bomb explodes can lead to very poor outcomes for you even if the surgery is successful. There's a whole lot of of things that I could go on about but it should really be discussed in a formal clinic setting.
  13. I'm glad someone brought out 8K TVs because it's kinda similar There's not point offering 2Gbps speeds when most of the time the surrounding tech can't match it, and therefore speeds will be throttled by hardware limitations. Selling 2Gbps speeds is just to rip off the general public who have no idea about tech that just want the fastest speeds possible.
  14. I recently got a computer with HDD delivered, and I swear it's already faulty, incredibly slow boot up speeds. Loading certain applications take forever. The computer is brand new! Can't ever go back to HDD in my opinion.

  16. Hi I just wanted to clarify when I need to do my 90 day reporting as it wasn't clear to me. I last did my 90 day reporting end of Oct 21, and would be due to do my 90 day report at the end of this month. I renewed my annual visa at the end of Dec and got my new stamp on 30th Dec. Do I need to do my next 90 day report at the end of Jan as per my last reporting, or do I do it at the end of Mar as per my new visa? Thanks
