  1. Try the checkdi.com online insurance broker. They transparently provide you with a bunch of alternative policies and are helpful in case of any questions. I have used them for years under their former name Mister Prakan. I went for the Tharnachat insurance. Great coverage (no deductible) and service, and very competitive prices. In case of a claim (I had some minor scratches) they send someone out to you to assess the damage within 24 hours. However, this guy hardly spoke any English - best to have a Thai native with you upon inspection date.
  2. I had the same problem with my new frontloader some years ago. Found a YouTube video that addressed the matter. You need to remove the top lid and you will find a plastic valve that needs to be opened to the desired water level.
  3. This is exactly what I am trying to do right now. However, having returned from a border run visa exempt in order to invalidate my O-A visa, the IO (Koh Samui and Surat Thani) is now refusing to grant me a non-O visa stating that this can only be obtained outside Thailand. Obviously visa agents are willing to assist for a fee of 23-30k bath. Are there any other options?
  4. My Thai wife is currently covered by my private health insurance with high premiums climbing even higher every year. As my wife is not covered by the Thai social insurance plan I wonder if there are any other - more cost effective - alternatives to obtain a decent medical insurance coverage for her. I am hoping for some farangs sharing their personal experience on this matter with me. Thanks!
  5. I just picked up my passport from IO today for OA extension of stay. The insurance certificate provided stated the „old“ 40/400k THB coverage and was accepted. The new rule for will only come into effect from 1 October.
  6. No longer allowed since last year I believe. Of course you still see it a lot but no need for further seat belt like regulation if not legal anyway.
  7. Thanks! So need maintain 800k in the bank for getting the non-o approved. Once the extension of stay process kicks in I could the go back to the 65k method. Is this correct?
  8. How did you get this? I just tried to scan the QR Code from the Mor Prom App with the EU Green Pass App but the code was not recognised.
  9. I want to give up my OA retirement and apply for an O retirement visa next time I enter the LOS. I currently do not hold 800k in the bank but have monthly international transfers >65k hitting my Thai account which I use as evidence for my annual stay permit approvals. Would this method be equally acceptable when applying the O retirement visa?
  10. Not sure I understand. My insurance offers inpatient and outpatient coverage separately. So if I get 3mn inpatient coverage there will be no outpatient coverage - which is limited to some 160k anyway.
  11. Did my report on the new system on Sunday. Still pending approval ????
  12. Would it suffice to replace the 40k outpatient/ 400k inpatient coverage with a 3mn inpatient insurance or would there still be a requirement for outpatient coverage to any degree?
  13. When trying to register I am continuously getting a FAILED TO SAVE DATA error notification. I tried 2 different browsers and filled out all required fields. Did anyone encounter a similar issue?
  14. IO Koh Samui just charged me with THB 500 for issuing a Certificate of Residence. I thought this was way overpriced but what can you do if you need to extend your DL?
  15. For some reason the passport number does not show up. It no longer matter though as Samui DLT does not ask for the test to be taken (is this the reason the system won’t let me take the test?), only medical and residence certificate, and then color and reaction test, as I learned today. Not sure 3D vision test is still required as it was 2 years ago. Will find out tomorrow.
