  1. No, but I suspect it might be easier opening one if you already have the 90 day permission to stay stamp, or does that not necessarily follow?
  2. If you are in UK and get a 90 day stay on retirement by applying to London and showing at least 3 months income of 65k a month into a UK bank. What do you do if you want to extend from the 90 days to a year once in Thailand? How do the proof of finances work then? Grateful for your clarification.
  3. Thank you, it certainly wasn't an overstay, more of an understay really, but I take your point, thank you.
  4. No I haven't and that's probably a good idea, thank you. I was just asking here due to the recent posts re cancelling of ed visas
  5. I'd be grateful for some advice here. 13 years ago I was at Language School (and thoroughly enjoying it) on an Ed Visa, shortly before my first 90 day report I had to return to UK fast as my father died in a house fire. I informed the school what the situation was and that, due to everything that I was going to have to sort out in UK, I would have to curtail the course and wouldn't be back. I hopped a flight to UK next day but didn't cancel my visa with Immigration as I didn't have time and also I wasn't aware that this was necessary. I assumed (wrongly) that it would automatically be cancelled once I left the country. I've been back to Thailand several times since on visa exempt, but I'm now considering applying for another Ed visa to go to language school again. I'm wondering if the fact that I left suddenly without cancelling 13 years ago would go against me and an application be denied? Thanks in anticipation.
  6. Influencer=freeloader, I cannot abide them!
  7. Just out of curiosity and following on from this, after having done a 60 day visa exempt and a 30 day extension at immigration, then doing a border run ( land or air) and obtaining a new 60 day visa exempt, can that then be extended by 30 days again at immigration? TBH it seems a rather large loophole if you can just carry on doing it!
  8. Thanks for that, so is that method of paying widely acceptable in Thailand now? I presume you can add the wise card to Google pay? Thank you.
  9. Forgive my ignorance, but is a digital card on your phone, like (for example) google pay? Also can you pay by Google pay etc these days, I think there's more and more people using it in UK rather than a card. Thank you.
  10. I prefer watching County Cricket to International. Mainly my home county of Somerset on their YouTube livestream, although the ECB seem to be intent on ruining the 4 day game, especially with the introduction of the ridiculous Hundred!
  11. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime, she knew the risks. It's not complicated! Sorry, but my sympathy drawer is empty.
  12. In the West this would be known as a (commonplace) "settlement out of court'. Here, of course, it's a "bribe ". And yeah, I guess although they're both more or less the same thing, one might be regarded as more face saving than the other if one is the plaintiff and really going for it! TBH the Swiss guy has been a complete and utter 🔔end and deserves to be thoroughly castigated, on the other hand the Dr (if the account is true) has been wronged and deserves justice. Look's like it's more like going for a pound (and a half) of flesh now though. Maybe a fans only account will follow, who knows, got to make hay while the sun shines🤔🙄.
  13. Not much lower than a Russian apparently!
