  1. Many thanks theoldgit, I'm sure your not however yes you are right. I am the boyfriend /sponsor.

I have looked and looked at the refusal and the reasons I think are errors made by us. They doubted her employment letter, I think my mistake as I said get a letter from her boss. Being Thai her boss is the same as a workmate in the UK. It was undated not signed and not on company logo paper. I accept this as an error on my part not thinking about HR at her employment. I think the embassy checked with them which leads to the other point, I'd said that it would be probability that she could be called in for an interview. I thought she stopped working in case of but I think she had stopped working all together.

So the view of the officer was working at the airport was a front to obtain a visa and on that basis was a fraudulent attempt to acquire a UK visa.

She wasn't banned from reapply but it's been noted that any other visa application maybe refused.

In my opinion silly errors which I think I have to blame myself for and I can understand how it looked for the officer.

    However,

The refusal stating the wrong man to visit is in my opinion is totally unacceptable and yes can only make a complaint which I have. I have stated that it is unacceptable, if it were me I'd be sacked, it has caused distress the to the mentioned and his family and I have questioned the credibility of the officer as I as the sponsor checked or was the wrong man checked? As yet no response and to be fair do I expect one? No

I was married to a Thai before and all its done brought up all my bad memories of embassy work.

Bottom line is, life goes on they didn't beat me before and they won't beat me again. It's a blip bit of a big blip.

  2. More building more flooding. Its not rocket science. These so called one off storms are becoming more frequent worldwide. So the cynical people of Thailand /patttaya are going to have a field day and many more. pattaya is low level and will always be at risk of flooding. I cannot believe anyone will pay for giant storage tanks along beach rd which if filled up go to sea with the tanks pumping up to the dark side. It's too much money for what is a short raining season.

FYI, this is my opinion not fact before I get slaughtered by every cynic.

  3. Thanks Cookie and 7,

The British passport haha, thought about that also.My wife been here 7yrs knows every trick but that life in the uk-No hope.Alternative do the course, our wonderful government reduced something to do with the course and when we enquired our nearest college was taking applications for September this year,so that was a no no with my wife.

Sorry for going off topic,I feel confident about going for the visa but my wife is concerned which is very unlike her(probably because she wont be able to go shopping as much).

If's and buts the stress is starting but I agree that I think there will be a lot of quesstions raised because of the 7yrs living here.

If anybody knew our situation, just because my wife status is living in England(ILR)because it is genuinely like were not apart(if that makes sense)there shouldnt be any problems but I feel there will and I think wife does also.

So heres to the New Year with potentially lots of thoughts and planning.

    Thanks again

  4. One of the many questions the ECO will be asking is why has the Mother taken this amount of time to apply for settlement for the child.

You will need to demonstrate you have had sole responsibility of the child.

    Children

    Good luck.

    Many thanks

It was our intention to only be in the UK for a few years, sort everything out in Thailand house car etc all paid off which is done but on a whole certain circumstances beyond our control stopped moving back to Thailand.Another problem is living,no job in Thai means no money or what you have not lasting.

I think also my wife considers it being better here for us,although like most families at times struggle we both work and think she likes that by working here can have alot more to show for working.(if that makes sense)

I am aware that questions would be asked about the boy aswell, but hes at an age where hes decicding for himself with our encouragement of course but has said that he would like to stay and follow footsteps joining the Police.

There is no doubt that we all miss eachother but decisions like my wife going back to Thai and I stay here and work have been considered. It has been hard and above everything its about making the right decision for the children. The girl is bright and intelligent and would settle very quickly no doubts at all and is excited about potentially coming here.

I do think getting a visa can be done and proving that we had been financially providing for them, family background etc schooling history etc can be documented but like when applying for my wife to the UK those memories still haunt me.

The thought of an ECO moving the goalposts again for documents scares me,so if we go ahead with the application Ive got to get it right.

    Many thanks

  5. The biggest problem is the long, 7 year separation; especially if the children have been living with their father or paternal relatives. Your wife must be able to show that she has been exercising sole responsibility over the child for all, or at least most of, that time.

Your first step is to thoroughly read SET07 - Children, paying particular attention to SET7.8 What is sole responsibility?

You should also read Maintenance and accommodation.

.Cannot even seem to get the visa form.I think by looking and reading its "settlement".

Yes, it is SETTLEMENT (VAF4A NOV 2010), in section 8.1 tick the "As the child of someone settled, or going to settle, in the UK" box.

As your wife has lived in the UK for 7 years, she presumably has ILR; in which case if her daughter's application is successful she will be granted Indefinite Leave to Enter, which is the same as ILR but issued outside the UK.

Many many thanks,my wife's parents are dead so the children are with my wifes sister and brother in law and have been since she arrived here. There will no problems proving this and also current schooling.Money is regularly sent and generally all major decisions are done by my wife.Generally now reading the sections can try to make a start as the application needs to be right 1st time.

Does it mean tho that actually my wife would be completing the application(settlement) as a "sponsor" or "mother" or would I complete the application as "sponsor"? Unless Im missing something its not particularly clear.

    Many thanks

    Del.

  6. Hi topdj

Just to say a Thai lady my wife goes to School with, who has been in the UK for 6 or 7 years has just been refused a Visa for her 13 year old son to join her in the Uk.

I don't know why but my wife spoke to her on the phone and I got the impression that it was all about his support that she did or did not provide for him.

so it looks like that is a issue that needs to be addressed, Along with all the other issues like accomodation Ect

I will try to find out the reason given later this week when I see her at School

    [/quo

Thank you,as I thought there maybe problems ahead.Cannot even seem to get the visa form.I think by looking and reading its "settlement".

I had a feeling proving that kids were supported by us maybe a problem.Banks statements, western union receipts etc for 7yrs even phone bills with also the fact that most are paperless.

me thinks this is not going to be easy.

    Many thanks

  7. Many thanks in advance.

I will try and keep this query brief. My wife(Thai) has lived with me in the UK for 7yrs now and has 2 children. Our plans back then were to have a good go here in the Uk and then return to Thailand and live happily ever after.Circumstances beyond our control have faded the dream. Therefore bringing the children here is our option. My wife and I have visited Thailand(home) as often as we could and speaks virtually every other day on the phone, so here's our dilemma. The boy(14) has said that he would stay in Thailand with Aunt and Uncle like he has done so.The girl(10)would like to be here with us in the UK.

Is there likely to be issues raised ie why taken 7yrs before trying to bring children to Uk,would it be lengthy process especially as the wonderful coalition have made a point on immigration.

I am assuming lots and lots of paperwork proving that we have supported them for the past 7yrs etc etc.

If its possible where do we start? Has anybody experienced this.

All of your experience help or advice would be most appreciated.

  8. Hi Del, yes, it's on the Ban Khwao road, driving from town along the dual carriageway it's about 4km. Just before the road starts to climb you will see a newish development on the right. That's it.

  11. I have to admit been very surprised here in Chaiyaphum, seen a good few farang which makes a change and the internet speed is far better than I thought.

Well it looks like Chaiyaphum is starting to catch up-not sure if I'd like it.

    Far too much rain also.

  12. Have flown with them a few times, overall tho not bad for the money only had 1 bad experince with them.I remember they used the older planes from LHR to Doha.

If memory serves me right times at connections vary, one time we(mrs and me) had I think 8hr waiting time.Hotel provided I thought very nice but the MRS thought the food was rubbish and the men smelled lol she would.or can be 1hr 30mins.

I personally think not bad,if you get good connections all good.

Do check tho,it appears they are all competitive at mo,I do really wonder if Thai will reduce fares by 50%.????
