The Oz dollar was at 19 just after covid hit the markets. Now nearly 20% higher.  The Oz has been at roughly 50c to USD while Keating was boss, and hit 57 in 2020.

Its a commodity currency, and waxes and wanes with the cycle. Its exports, agricultural and materials and energy, are priced in USD, so all are getting premiums on exports. Oz has had a windfall in the last year of approx 50 billion AUD due to this.

We'll most likely have no recession there (looking at you, US, UK, EU) and energy supplies aren't a problem (UK, EU again).

Oz is in better shape than the EU, UK and most of the rest of the world. NZ is heading for big trouble.

Check your facts instead of just mouthing opinion and dressing it up as fact. OZ IS the lucky country, maybe not deserving, but is.

will I take it you  must be on the higher level of  the AUD $, because there  are a hell of a lot of every day Aussie that are living below the  politely line, The only answer that the bunch clowns that  running the country are a sick joke. it and only be called the lucky country if you are on a six figure or above. I like many other's the lucky ones that could would of gotten out years ago, I wouldn't say they are mouthing off just saying like it is. can't wait to get  back to my beloved Thailand.

In your first papagraph you talk about returning home to Thailand.

Your last paragraoh you talk about travelers.

You are measuring apples and oranges or chalk and cheese.

    Totally different kettle of fish.

TP and insurance  is an immense turnoff to my Aussie mates.

I'm Here in Aussie now worst luck, and I always have travel insurance no TP is going to put me of getting back to LOS. Just think yourself lucky you are living there cause this land down under is <deleted>. Maybe if your mates are turned off coming back maybe stay away from the bar girls.

Below is a graph posted in an ABC article today showing excess deaths in Australia in recent years and shows 2017 had significantly more deaths that was attributed to the flu than the 22,000 covid deaths over the past 2 years.I must be missing something because I don't remember there being much of a hoo haa made about the deaths from the flu that year or any lockdowns or vaccine mandates.I wonder if Thailand might have a similar story?

Yup. Covid is rife in phuket. My daughter had it a couple of weeks ago. No idea where she caught it, assume her school, no attempt at test and trace of contacts. She just isolated at home, but there was nothing to stop her going out and about other than her own responsibility. We only discovered she had it by accident because I gave her a rapid test so that we could prove she was Covid free for her gym club. Otherwise she would have been roaming around infecting others

Schools back here in Australia have started back this week, the government gave out free arigen  test for to be done at home and 9-12yrs upwards have to wear marks to and from school in classroom and playground so we will wait and see how that goes. omicrom have come down here they are thinking of  opening up our boarders to tourist again. Me I am hanging out to get back to Thailand.

  8. We can't get hold of them down here in Oz either. Our bunch of clown's that call them self a government, are telling us to get out and get rat test and test your self and family 3 times a week but at Aud $15.00 a hit not a problem, If the UK but the & USA can hand them out for free why can't they heel we are in the top 5 highest paying taxes in the world. anybody that would want to come to live or holiday  need to be in the million's .

My daughter has not been to her kindergarten for nearly a year now, she was 4 when stopped, but now turned 5, if the jab gets the school open and her back in then i'm ok with it. I don't like it, but will agree to it. She is at far more risk education wise than health wise from not taking it.

For some reason she the wife just took her for a flu jab, so 1 more wont hurt

I agree with you, here in Australia the have started vaccination 5-11yrs Pfizer and Mandora and have no reports of any side affects, it is not compulsory but they over vacs for other things just keep them safe and in schools.

what really disgusts me is the ammount of frarangs that go to the toilet here and do not wash their hands - what sort of dirty background do they come from, I see most Thais washing their hands  but not farangs especially right now during this pandemic - it has put me right off shaking strangers hands as a greeting

I always carry hand sanitiser around with, just to be on the safe side no matter where I am will before Covid came  on the scern .

I only buy Asus computers. Dell also make good computers. If you just need something to putter around on any name brand will do. Do try and get an SSD drive and 8gb RAM minimum. Windows 11 ready - no sense in buying obsolete kit.

I'd recommend you browse online but buy local and in person. Jib probably has best selection, lowest prices. Go there, unseal the box, power it up. You don't want someone's return.

I have just read your your answerer, have put it on file and you Management a shop or place called Jip could you please till me where they are,as am coming over  in May 2022 and was looking to get one, what should I roughly pay for one. I will be in Chiang Ma & Bangkok. Hoping everything is open by then . Thank's.

Having the hotels still involved means lots of potential for scams.   School kids in the UK discovered how easy it was to make these things turn positive (I believe Coca Cola works quite well) so that they wouldn't have to go to school.    I presume the hotels will soon discover that by using a similar technique, they will be able to sell those people the PCR upgrade package which includes a compulsory overnight stay.

Thanks for that info on the ATK test, they have started to bring it in to schools here in Australia. I new it wouldn't be long before teen's found a way around it. Schools are giving it free but any one else you have to buy at $10.00 a hit, at lest in the UK it's free. We have a Gov here that is all about $$$ and taxes.

  15. FOR GOD SAKE DO NOT ALLOW  CASINO'S IN.  Their is enough corruption in Thailand now it sure as hell doesn't need anymore. I can see what the government can only see $$$ but there is a hell of a lot more to it than that for once but it's people first. I work in a big leagues club in Australia with nearly 1000 poker machines in them and the money that goes through per day makes you want to cry, let alone any other form of gambling. It ruin's people's lives. Just keep them out They are not needed yes we have all form gambling here but the clown's running the show here love's the $$$ and taxes too.

  16. Could someone please Let me know what this new Thai Pass that keeps coming up on here, what it all about and who has to have it. I have tried looking it up on line but so much of it is in Thai and bit are in English don't make any scents . I'm from Aussie we don't need visa, and are planning to come over in May so was hoping things like quarantine and extra will be done with and I would only need proof that I have been double Vax and test negative. Will be flying from Taiwan to CM. there is so much BS from our gov and Thai gov i might turn into a ladyboy and have better luck. I just want to get out of this hell hole here and back to LOL. Thanks for any help.

  17. Just may be they could try what is happening down here in some part's of Australia,The Gov here has put out an app with a QR code with prove that you have been doubled Vaxx to get in to any pub or club. It may mean that they have to have someone on the door usurly security guard but at less it keeps just about every one happy. I'm back at work after 4 months off. I work in a club and the price of a beer is going up to $7.50  spirits $12.50  as of the 1st Dec. Smokes are up to $45.oo pkt of 30 it is cheaper to go  on the the happy weed.  Our government stuff's everything up but I guess it is more taxes for them.

Yes indeed. Maybe due to transportation costs? Both vegetables are not grown on a commercial scale in Thailand, so have to be imported (as here in Cambodia). Australia was a big exporter but nowadays it is China and for reference:-

The Australian fresh broccoli and cauliflower industries have experienced significant displacement in export markets. Exports for both products have declined rapidly in recent years. Export volumes of have collectively fallen by 92 per cent since its peak in 2001.

China now produces 45 per cent of the world’s cauliflower and broccoli. Its production has grown 51 per cent since the year 2000.

    https://ausveg.com.au/app/data/technical-insights/docs/VG05028.pdf

Incidentally, sometimes I can buy delicious Australian celery when in season.

Yes It is not only the export of broccoli & cauliflower down here in Australia, It no overseas piker's it is sending the cost up on all fruit & veg buy Xmas it will look but can't buy. Both Broccoli & Cauliflower are $3.00 kg B & $4.00 Cauliflower in Coles & Woolworths.and since China isn't talking to us so they don't want it.
