I doubt you have seen anything yet.

Thailand closed for 2 years and they are going to get those lost earnings back.

Expats and returning tourists are going to get rinsed.

The global tourism industry is doing it, so why shouldn't Thailand? I don't blame them.

I know you may be right, and for someone who loves the LOS and do fell so sorry for the locals as they are the ones that have been the hardest hit by this. I will be coming back up hopefully by May and the bar's and markets will be open.

  4. We haven't had them yet,Talke of them coming, but like most things connect to covid do we don't hold our breath as the hospitals are getting full (NSW& VIC  ). I have a brother living in London he sent me some over but they got stopped at immigration and were aloud in as they weren't on Med list . Guess where they are made in a lab company in  Brisbane Queensland, they are selling to the UK &USA,but now chief clown is back there is talk of them coming available at $10 a hit. When they open up the boarders I'm a coming back.

They can start with the exorbitantly high import duties and taxes on foreign goods.  Sure they want to protect local suppliers and manufacturing, but why does China enjoy bilateral trade relations with Thailand, while western products remain out of reach?

When I was in LOS last & the UK  Aussie products were a quarter of what we are paying, I'm in lock down but will be going back to  to work when NSW  open's  up and have been told a price rise $6.50 scorner. and $7.00  stubbie  cant wait to get back.

Yep. Look at the idiots in the NT of Australia who gave away the Port of Darwin for 99 years for a lousy 500 mil dollars.

The Chinese getting revenge for the British lease on Hong Kong.

China isn't talking to us nearly all trade has stopped, now France has pulled it's Embassy staff out of the country cause chief clown ( scot Morrison ) went back on a deal for submarines, so now he's in the US kissing Blyton A-- on nuc subs. The country is in so much daet and such a stuff up over vaccinations let him stay out though he always dose when he stuff's up he will be out next May.

  7. Ok I am not in the LOS, bit down here in Aussie and by Christ I wish I wasn't, I'm in my 60's and have to get the AZ or nothing I want the Pfizer. Scot Morrison has been on to US to see if we can get Pfizer that they would give us Pfizer that they are throwing out but hasn't had a answer back they are doing the right thing and giving it to 3rd world country's. why should the US get us out of Morrison's stuff up.He only brought AZ because it was cheaper. Now that Delta has come I"m in NSW and we are getting over 200 cases a day and 7 deaths so far back in shut down again till 28-08 Victoria & Queensland shorter. So take it if you can get Pfizer take it. I miss the most of it but there are new and harder rules for Aussies trying to get back the reasoning they trying to stop the spreadingBut if you have money WELCOME COME ON IN. So stay put I would much rather be up there than this hell hole here even Phuket sandbox would be better. but as soon as Morrison lets us out and no quarantine I'm out of here To my beloved LOS the bar's will be opened by then. So take care.

Will I am truly please to see that, but do not think they are so great it is the AZ that they are trying to get rid of cause hardly anyone down here want's it now Pfizer is meant to be coming, But I cannot get because I'm in my 60's so I might end up with nothing. I'm in NSW and we are in tight lock and might be till the end of August. two of my friends have been making home brew dame good drop can't keep up with demand's. Because one thing is for sure Scot Morison and his pals aren't going without.

No, not really. It's a big island with 90% of the population living in 6 or 7 cities. Easy to shut down.

Low infection rate and just about the lowest death rate in the world from covid.

All of which means they were slow to take off with vax. Plus the EU stole a couple of million AZ vax that Oz had on order ...

I don't know if you are Aussie or not  you been away to long, yes we might have a low rate if the kept the boarder's closed. We have the poly's running around playing god and changing their minds on Covid so much crab comes out they must have to carry a 10pk of undies around with them.

  11. I can't see you's are going on about, stay where you are because I'm down here in Australia and we are once again in lockdown And in such a stuff up with the vaccine roll out with Scot Morrison and his pals, by the time we get over this one something else will come along. I can't get vaccinated because of my age and don't want AZ, Pfizer finely got here but only up 59yrs. Thailand mightn't be the land of smiles at this time, but it will be again and I hope  like hell to be there.

There are close to 10000 cases a day.  The government wants to incarcerate all PCR positives.  Do the math - the facility is already full and it hasn't even opened.  It can't handle a half of a day's worth of "cases."

In Denmark (and most likely other Western nations) 83% of the cases (asymptomatic, mild, and manageable) are treated at home.  Only 17% are treated in hospitals.1

Thailand's insistence in locking up "cases" in hospitals has already destroyed the health care system in many locations and will wipe it out nationwide if they don't implement a more conservative model.
With the currently over-burdened health care system, people with other severe non-covid health problems will be left to die as hospital care workers are repurposed to act as "guards" who watch the asymptomatic, mild, and manageable "cases" that don't actually need hospitalization.
Health care providers and workers need to provide health care.  Not provide what is effectively a prison security detail to monitor Covid-positive patients who for all practical purposes are "inmates" to be watch, tracked, monitored, and constrained in "field hospitals" that are essentially panopticons.

The world has gone freaking nuts - Thailand's on the bleeding edge of that insanity.

If you think Thailand is on the edge of insanity tack a look at Australia, we are so stuffed up down here that I can only get AZ because of my age 60 pulse and I do not want that will only go for Pfizer so might miss out all together. It was the cheap on AZ so now Pfizer here but not enough us oldies get what left over in hope we die before hand. Only 25% vaccinated so far I would much rather be up there.

Why on earth are we living in this Kafkaesque country? They've got the biggest public health crisis in living memory on their hands, they've completely screwed up their vaccination programme, and yet all they can find to act on is this sort of nonsense.

Message to self: go home, get vaccinated, wait for sanity to return, then find a less-inane country to move to.

Hope your not from Aussie , cause we are just as <deleted>> up as you's up there if not worst. In lock down again, but we do have the grand tittle of coming last in the western  world on the roll out of vaccine, and no booze here.

Where has anything ever been done harder and faster in Thailand when it comes to Government work and bureaucracy.  Slow and steady is how things are done just like the vaccine rollout without any expediency.  However, I know that when I get a certain urge I get on top of it and work harder and faster, but that is a different type of work I would suppose. ????

I can not understand why you's up there Thai or farang's are going on about your vaccine rollout come here to Australia we are the lowest country in the western world.we sill only have one vaccine available if you can get it,There is so much bull sh-t going on between the poli's and health departments and state's. as  any Aussie lucky enough to live up there would know. The whole country is now in some sort of  lockdown. It is just F--ked down I'm out of work for the 3rd time in 18months,Pubs and clubs are closed bottle shops open but up go the prices, can get Chang down here at some places 6 pack sm bottles $17.00 smokes up to $30.00 for 20 Morrison has to get of his a-- and get these border's open cause I'm on the first plane out of here, and by that time will be vaccinated And my beloved Thailand will have no quarantine and sandboxes. Anyone  in BKK are the trains still running and how. JUST KEEP THE BAR'S OPEN.

I think you will find reports of not being able to return to Australia are greatly exaggerated. Citizens/residents dont need permission to return, quarantine hotels are assigned on arrival and there is no facility to book.

    Exempt categories

You are automatically exempt from the travel restrictions and can enter Australia (without obtaining an individual exemption) if you are:

    https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/travel-restrictions

Can you choose your own hotel?

All hotel quarantine for travellers is pre-arranged and you are not required to make a booking. It is not possible to advise in advance which hotel you will stay at. This is determined on the day of your arrival.

And they know this by reading international newspapers, watching BBC World News and trawling TV three times a week?  I think not.  No doubt many countries are open for returns but many are not (Australia springs to mind...it can take months for an Australian citizen to get permission to return and a spot in a quarantine hotel).  The truth is they have little idea what the rules are in Thailand and no clue what they are elsewhere.  I am not suggesting that COVID extensions should go on forever but saying "no farang is stranded anymore" is simply not true.

  17. I am here in a seven day lockdown here in Sydney Australia ( will actually Central Coast New South Wales) and the crazy mixed up s--t that goes along with it is unbelieve able. they change there minds on the so called rules on the whole Covid-19 quicker than they change their  underwear. I'm in hospitably s0 once again no work, no vaccine as they have changed the age yet once again and now because of my age I have ta wait to the next batch come in and they can't say when that is going to be. Or when our boarders will open up. but when they do and no quarantine at your end I'm on the first flight out to Chiang Mai, oh how I miss the country.get the bar's open I'm a coming.

You dreaming!  the PM is a puppet!  he is behind times the article stated it hasn't been approved although officials have been bragging about it for months. With these leaders anything is possible but history is I have a 90% plus chance of winning I go with those odds, even if I lose this one I'm so far ahead it isn't funny!????

Only thing I am dreaming about is when I get out of here, PM and his mates puppets that is putting it mildly, I can't say what I think of them or would be banned  off this site. If you are lucky enough to live up there stay,I cause this country has gone to the pack and I'm being nice. I LOVE THAILAND.

Australia Is not that different , as for us getting vaccinated, There has only been 5-6 million so far in the whole country. It keep's going on one stuff up after another as for the boarders reopening That is one sick joke, I like many others are dying to get out I would much rather spend my money on somewhere that needs it and I love, so will get back there as soon as t can where once more it will be the land of smiles.

Guess they are following European and Australian ways, do nothing for refugees.

Too bad Thailand doesnt have islands close by to put them on and let them rot.

You are right there, Australia dose not give a sh-t about refugees in Australia they are dumped on 2 islands and left there some have been there for up to 10 year's, condition's are shocking. the locals don't want them there and us Aussie's that either demonstrate wright or do doco's on there plight get know where  .but do you except when you have a bunch of clowns running the  circus. Any Expat's living in Thailand or anywhere else stay put. Because once COVID-19 is over I for one are out of here.
