Burmese Worker Perish as Trailer Truck Brake Failure Results in Fatal Impalement
A horrifying incident took place as three Burmese workers were seated on a steel beam atop a trailer truck, delivering supplies for a dam construction project. During braking, the beam shifted and impaled the workers, accompanied by a broken air brake hose. The police are expediting the investigation to gather evidence for potential charges. On June 21, 2023, around 4:00 PM, Captain Channat Yangnok of the Phoekaeo Police Station received a report regarding the fatal impalement of workers. The incident occurred near Wat Om Yai in Samphran District, Nakhon Pathom Province. Captain Channat Yangnok promptly arrived at the scene accompanied by medical personnel from Samphran Hospital and the Potetkung Foundation. At the accident site, a 22-wheel Hino trailer truck with license plate 71-1139 Samut Prakan was parked, hauling two 45-meter long, 22-inch diameter steel beams. Between the end of the beam and the truck's cab, the lifeless body of one worker was found. The victim, Mr. Kaw Ped Ang, a 19-year-old Burmese national, suffered a pierced left leg from the broken air brake hose, reported Siam Rath. Picture: Siam Rath According to the 40-year-old driver, Mr. Kraiwut Boonsuk, he was transporting the steel beams from Wat Om Yai to a construction contractor near the Tha Chin River, approximately 300 meters away. Three workers, including the deceased, were seated on the beams. When braking on a curved section of the road, the victim fell onto the truck bed, resulting in impalement by the steel pillar. The tragic incident was caused by the fall and the broken air brake hose. The police gathered photographic evidence and summoned the driver and witnesses for further interrogation and coordination with the forensic investigation team regarding the examination of the involved vehicle for ongoing legal proceedings. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-06-22 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Two high school girls arrested for stealing mobile phones after hiding in a closed shopping mall. Yesterday, police in Buri Ram arrested two female high school students from a school in Mueang Buri Ram district as they were suspected of breaking into a mobile phone store in a well-known shopping mall. The store owner had posted a call for help on Facebook, asking the public for any information regarding the two suspects thought to be still students. The stolen phones were an iPhone 11, priced at 11,900 baht (US$340), and a second-hand iPhone 7, with an estimated value of 5,900 baht (US$170). The incident occurred around 9:20pm on the night of June 20, after the shopping mall had closed. The store owner’s Facebook post contained clear images and video clips from the closed-circuit cameras, that captured the suspects committing the crime. It is believed that the two girls entered the shopping mall before it closed, hid in some corner, and carried out the theft once the mall staff and customers had left. They were expected to blend in with the moviegoers exiting the mall after the show. by Samantha Rose PHOTO: Sanook Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/high-school-girls-arrested-for-stealing-iphones-worth-17800-baht-in-closed-mall -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-06-22 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thailand to reduce visa approval time for Chinese tourists
Thailand has said it will halve the visa approval time for Chinese visitors to less than a week to ease travel from the world's largest outbound tourism market. The tourism industry had been complaining that the approval time was currently too long since it had taken only 3-5 working days to issue visas in pre-Covid times. China was Thai tourism's biggest overseas market in 2019 as 11 million visited the country, accounting for 28% of arrivals. Trang pub denies assault allegations, blames intoxicated employee’s behaviour and files legal case
A popular pub in Trang province is refuting allegations that its security guards assaulted a 27 year old female staff member after she caused a scene. Instead, the pub claims they intervened when the intoxicated employee threw several bottles of beer on the floor. The venue has filed a legal case against the woman, who initially accused the pub of wrongdoing in a social media post. Yesterday, reporters visited the pub and met the 43 year old manager and his 32 year old assistance manager. They recounted the incident that began when the woman, only five days into her employment, drank 12 shots of cocktail with customers and later disrupted their experience. Club authorities claim to have security footage as evidence of their actions. The manager and assistance manager mentioned that they initially offered to give her another chance to work and improve her attitude, but due to this incident, they must follow the standard legal procedures. by Nattapong Westwood PHOTO: Khaosod Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/trang-pub-denies-assault-allegations-blames-intoxicated-employees-behaviour-and-files-legal-case -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-06-22 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. In a small house in Nakhon Ratchasima province, the inhabitants were besieged by a massive swarm of insects, numbering in the thousands. The situation worsened during rainfall, as the insects multiplied exponentially. During sunlight, the insects sought refuge under furniture, in the corners of rooms, and even inside stored food, causing extensive damage. Moreover, an overwhelming stench permeated the air, creating a highly distressing environment. Desperate for assistance, the affected residents pleaded for the intervention of relevant authorities, reported Sanook. Picture: Sanook Local authorities swiftly responded to the alarming situation, sending a team of experts to assess the scale of the infestation and provide necessary aid. They identified the invading insects as a species of millipede known for their nuisance behavior. Although not typically aggressive, their large numbers and offensive odor posed a significant threat to the well-being and daily lives of the affected residents. Picture: Sanook Efforts are underway to control the infestation and alleviate the distress of the homeowners. Experts are employing various measures, including insecticide treatments and environmental modifications, to mitigate the invasion and prevent future occurrences. The war of a thousand legs continues, but with determined intervention, hope remains for the residents to regain their peaceful abode once again.
