Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke highlighted the government's vigilance on anthrax following the identification of 54 cases in Laos, accompanied by animal deaths in March. The Ministry of Public Health, via the Department of Disease Control, has worked with local entities to intensify disease monitoring in both humans and animals, with a focus on border areas adjacent to neighboring countries. Should any individuals display symptoms of anthrax, an initial investigation and notification to the provincial public health office are mandated. The public is urged to promptly report any unusual illnesses or deaths of cattle to local veterinary services or governmental organizations. Direct contact with, moving, or slaughtering carcasses for consumption is strongly discouraged. Those who have been in contact with ill animals and subsequently develop atypical symptoms should seek medical care immediately, as the condition is treatable with antibiotics. Thailand has been free of anthrax cases since 2001. Anthrax, an acute bacterial infection caused by Bacillus anthracis, is a zoonosis that humans can contract through contact with infected animals or their remains, notably cattle, buffalo, or other herbivores. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary-General of the Board of Investment (BOI), revealed that the promotion aims to reduce barriers such as visas and taxes on event equipment to attract tourists and stimulate the economy. To qualify for promotion, each event must have expenditures of no less than 100 million baht, receive exemptions on import duties for equipment, and have access to visa facilitation and work permits through a One Stop Service. This aligns with the "Ignite Thailand" vision to elevate the country to a global level. Additionally, the BOI has approved the enhancement of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) business to support the shift in production bases by increasing promoted activities and strengthening the PCB cluster in Thailand. The driver of a Ferrari miraculously escaped with no injuries after crashing into a canal off Prasert-Manukitch Road in Bangkok. The incident occurred around 10.37am today shortly after the luxury sports car had been taken for a test drive following repairs. Emergency services, including police and volunteers from the Siam United Foundation, responded to the scene where the red Ferrari had veered off the road. A red Ferrari veered off course and plunged into a canal. The accident happened near the Chocolate View restaurant on Prasert-Manukitch Road in the Khan Na Yao district. Authorities were quickly notified of the incident, and a team of emergency responders and volunteers from the Siam United Foundation were dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, the responders found the supercar submerged in the canal, with its front window shattered and significant damage to its bodywork. Despite the severity of the accident, the driver managed to exit the vehicle safely and did not sustain any injuries. The car’s registration details were not immediately available at the scene. A witness commented that it was a miracle that no one was hurt as bystanders looked on at the unusual sight of the high-performance vehicle in the waterway. Initial findings suggested the Ferrari had been recently repaired at a local garage. It is believed that the driver was conducting a test drive to ensure the vehicle was in proper working order when the accident occurred. The loss of control that led to the crash may have been due to mechanical issues or other factors, which are now under investigation by the authorities, reported KhaoSod. The altercation occurred at an unidentified bar and restaurant located on the Takua Pa Road in the Talad Nuea sub-district near Phuket Old Town. The victim, Mr. Manoch Kamkaew, aged 31, sustained severe injuries from three stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Manoch was tragically pronounced dead. On the same day, Region 8 Police apprehended the prime suspect, Mr. Apisit Eiamaksorn, whose age was not disclosed, in Trang. A summer storm with strong gusts of wind and hail occurred, wreaking havoc in three sub-districts of Bueng Kan Province. Video clips shared by locals on social media during the hail storm showed that the hailstones were large, some as big as a child’s fist or a tennis ball. Many people, posting on Facebook, mentioned that in the past 40-50 years, they had never witnessed such large hailstones before. After the hail storm subsided, people began collecting the hailstones in containers and taking pictures to share on social media, marking a rare occurrence of a hail storm in the area. After the incident, officials visited the affected areas with officials to assess the damage. A total of 1,376 houses in 18 villages had been damaged. There have been no reports yet of injuries or fatalities among the residents, but agricultural crops will undergo further assessment. In the aftermath of the brake failure, the tour bus driver lost control and crashed into the rear of a Volvo articulated truck carrying logs. The impact caused the bus to overturn, leaving passengers scrambling to escape through the windows. The injured were immediately attended to by rescue units and transferred to local hospitals for treatment. The bus, originating from Thep Udom Phitthaya School in Surin province, was en route to Prachin Kalyani School in the city of Prachinb Buri. The visit was part of a professional development excursion for the teachers. Those who were not seriously injured or chose not to go to the hospital were taken to a nearby checkpoint to await further transportation arranged by the school. The bus driver, Luan Wijit, recounted that the vehicle was functioning normally until it began the descent when it experienced a mechanical issue, and the brakes failed. Despite efforts to control the bus, collision with the truck ahead was inevitable. Anawil, the 31 year old truck driver, was unaware of the impending disaster until he felt the impact from behind. The stretch of road where the accident occurred, particularly the descent from the hill, spanning 6 kilometres and notorious for frequent accidents, will likely come under scrutiny following this incident.
