  1. The police may have used the fact that the victim was wearing a school top as evidence the corpse was that of a child. However, they may have jumped the gun.
  2. Offend? Probably not. Reinforce Thais as lacking in critical thinking, excessively ethno-centric and parochial and incredibly ignorant of world history? Probably Lead me to instantly come up with a few ad-hoc T-shirt ideas that would immediately set off every Thai within 200 metres? Definitely. (Don't worry I won't do it)
  3. There is no place on the evisa application for this. It is not asked about it. Give them specifically what they request and nothing more.
  4. Ukraine is an existential crisis. Putin's theory as put forward in his "On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians" is that the state of Ukraine is illegal and is part of Russia. There is no peace with Putin as long as Ukraine exists. Trump either knows this and doesn't care because he has his own interests, or is compromised or avoids difficult, hard decisions or he is too stupid to realise. The Ukrainians are not going to stop defending their land, their houses, their children and their freedom. Trump continues to spin the situation, throw in ridiculous deflections, parrot Russian narratives and defend Putin's warmongering. The remarkable thing is how many of his supporters buy it without even asking the simplest of questions. e.g. How will a peace deal be brokered without the involvement of Ukraine? How will any peace be sustainable? What verifications will be in place to prevent Russia using a pause in the fighting to rearm? How can Putin be trusted having shown himself to be completely untrustworthy on many previous occasions?
  5. I need to find an alternative to Skype for phoning UK landline numbers cheaply. My 92-year-old mum can only use the landline. And phoning government departments in the UK with long wait queues was no problem with Skype as govt. depts. use landlines and Skype gave me unlimited minutes to sit and wait on hold. Will I be able to call UK landlines from Teams?
  6. That area has a lot of people without citizenship / Thai id and is a dodgy border area outside of normal society. The authorities may not have been contacted or a missing person's report may have just been filed in a cabinet.
  7. Yes, this is correct. I provided the details page of my passport blown up to A4 and this was rejected as it missed the page above which has nothing but my photo (again) and my signature. But it is required apparently.
  8. If that debtor is just one of many that owe you money, by making an example of him, the other debtors fear you and make repaying their debts to you a priority.
  9. Might be an idea to give the consulate a phone. You may get some useful information that may allow you to make an informed decision. Or if you wish to take it up with higher authorities, any complaint regarding the behaviour of Thai consular staff can be made to the MFA.
  10. Have you given them a phone, mate?
  11. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of Protocol 443 Sri Ayudhya Rd., Bangkok 10400 Tel : (+66) 2643-5166 Fax : (+66) 2643-5167 Royal Thai Consulate-General, Kota Bharu 4426 Jalan Tok Guru, 15400 Kota Bharu, Kelantan ฝ่ายกงสุล (Consular Section) Tel.: +609 743-0640
  12. He does not mention what screening is? Any sort of criminal record check would be very hard to do properly.
  13. Is this the section of the 304 from Wang Nam Khieo that descends to Kabinburi, passing the HQ of Thap Lan NP? If so, there are so many warning signs and police and military there enforcing safety, this bus driver probably thought he knew better.
  14. It is on the backpacker trail. It has the facilities and attractions that backpackers want. If a backpacker steps off the backpacker trail, the straightforward becomes difficult. The majority remain on the trail. It is a genre of mass tourism.
  15. The Wuhan Clan up to no good again.
  16. It is common for the details of sexual assaults to be withheld to protect the victim, avoid copycat attacks and not to encourage "Curse of the Claw" types who get off on reading such intimate details and wish to act as defence barristers picking holes in the victim's story. If you really want to know, you can attend pertinent court cases by sitting in the public gallery. 🍄
  17. So, while Narut was lying at the bottom of the shaft very seriously injured, where was the bag with the loot and what happened to it? There would have been a lot of people milling around.
  18. I knew everything as soon as I read "Bangladeshi boyfriend".
  19. I surprisingly failed to buy a cover for a PCX yesterday as every shop bar one did not sell them and that one that did, did not have the right size in stock. Where can I buy one in the Pattaya area? It doesn't have to be downtown Pattaya. I will travel anywhere.
  20. Not at all. You have completely misunderstood and you are completely wrong. It is very common now for people being arrested to immediately claim some sort of medical distress. You can clearly see that is what is happening in this video. I never mentioned George Floyd. Derek Chauvin has rightfully been sentenced to prison.
  21. So you saw the guy writhing on the floor of the airport. It appeared he was feigning (badly) a seizure.
  22. Prosecuting the army officers perhaps? No, I didn't think you really meant it. Still, a glib, throwaway quarter-apology is better than nothing at all.
  23. Every day, another Chinese criminal gang story.
  24. Was that a variation of the "I can't breathe" tactic?
