  1. Carrefour, Pattaya Klang, ground floor has a post office, as does Tesco in North Pattaya.

Some of the other super stores may also have them - others can advise.

Thanks but those are all private services. If you compare costs betweem them and the actual post office the diffrence is considerable, or they only know how to quote EMS.

My experience has been that these private agencies charge about 10% more than the official Post Office rates. IMO not an excessive surcharge for the convenience.

It is possible depending on where you go, but I took a package to three diffrent places, the mentioned store in carrefour, mailboxes etc. on second rd. and the post office on soi 13. The post office was 280 Baht (Air Mail), Mail boxes etc. was 800 Baht and carrefour was 1000 +!! As I originally stated it may have been the incompetence of the people working there who only know how to quote EMS etc (I asked for all options including registered air mail) but the prices were way out of line! I will keep searching for a good local place and try to make a deal with them but the prices need to come in line.

  3. I know of the one on Soi Post Office but where are the others located? I've been told that there is one in Naklua and Jomtien but I can't fine them on a map, and dose anyone know which is the most user friendly?

    Thanks!

  4. This is an excellent thread. I'm curious about the legalitys of running an ebay store from here. Dose anyone know what is required as far as company formation, work permit..?

I'm geussing that most people don't bother with this, and if you don't grow too large you may be ok.

I'll go ahead and answer my own question, "Do a search on this subject and all the info is here!"

I was blown away by all the info I found, unfortunately I'm on a dial up in Pattaya and it runs at a snails pace and it made for a long afternoon. I think this business is very doable, especially if you already have Ebay experience.

    Thanks Guys!

  5. Does anyone know if they are still allowing the 'locals' access to the ship PX?

In the past goods were purchased and offloaded by the boat load. :D

Can't beat those government subsidized prices. :o

I doubt very much that anyone will be on board due to security threats, but dose anyone have an answer for this? My buddy was hoping to access the credit union on board.

    Thanks Guys

  6. I went to BangKok bank on second road and had no problems at all (Savings account with ATM) and I'm also on a 30 day visa. After checking their website I saw that they also have dollar accounts available and I went back the next day to open one. The initial person that I saw just gave me a blank look when I said "dollar account", but the bank manager new and set it up for me. This was a little uncommon so he had to have the account opened in BKK and I'm waiting for the info to arrive tomorrow.

  7. Hi Guys, I'm new here, thanks for the great forum!

    Here is my question:

I'm involved in an online business and was planning on doing some local advertising in the papers here... There would be no money at all changing hands, it's 100% internet based, do you think I need to register a company and or obtain a work permit??

    Thanks!
