mac, it's a 1499 baht deal for 70 pieces at one go - and not for 70 pieces for the next 70 days. They give a good deal comparing to others - on condition it's a large order.
it was no more than misunderstanding - on your side

should be rather saying 'drunkard' than 'worker'.
nobody healthy (and not intoxicated) dies from the few hours of exposure to mild cold
-
but we are talking about +4 and not -12 or even -25
-
I don't thing anybody would like to sleep in a tent at 4 celsius temperatures
-
Several suspects living in the local area were apprehended, as well as 80 kilograms
you can confiscate but not apprehend kilograms.
and they are poppy fields and not opium fields

there weren't any protests directly against the military rule since it took over the country and no protests are planned.
so this secret police/militrary force is in fact a policital police aimed at the working class (that includes agricultural workers) unhappy with the political system in thailand

or, for speed, a satelite broadband

pepe - try to claim it from your airline. If you bought your mobile by credit card it's covered for 30 days against theft

no, emmigration, at least at the Bangkok airport, doesn't even check the return ticket. The whole process takes 1 minute and usually there is no que

try first by yourself - especially if they already said it should be easy in your case.
be careful with them - I went to the layers just like you for a brief consultation and they charged my credit card ($2000) without my authorisation just by using my credit card details from the bank statement which they copied to create my portfolio. In thailand even layers are crooked. Had to go to their offices with a bend cop (again, all cops in thailand are bend) to get my money back.

yes, they are.
on the corner of my small soi there are 5 phone boxes - nobody uses them anymore, everybody, even my 3 years old niece, has a mobile. Cheaper and much more convenient.

thais tend not to use blanket cases - so after the season, if you don't have a very large washing mashine, blanket is too dirty to be used the next winter. Knowing the quality of the thai blankets, and most probably those given away, they don't last long (especially if washed often).

how can it be a disaster zone if nobody died or even got sick (at least nothing about it in this article) and, so far, no demage was done to the environment?

... the lack of interest by most public members in public service affairs (83 per cent).
People living in the Central region are the most unhappy, with an index of 5.36, while Bangkokians are second in the unhappiness stakes. ...
As for the poor score on good governance, corruption and abuse of power by police accounts for 84.9 per cent while malfeasance by other civilian officials ranks second at 82.1 per cent.
The other reasons are different favours extended to public members based on their social status (79.3 per cent), the absence of channels for people to voice their grievances (66.2 per cent) and discrimination created by legal loopholes (61.4 per cent)
I believe that under the title "Thais credit King for happiness. Gross domestic happiness has risen thanks to His Majesty" they were able to snick through quite a lot of criticism of thai ruling class.
the index on the gross happiness of Thai and farang increased to 5.74 - but is far from 100.00 or even 50.00 happiness index

thailand is still in the first 10 worlds most corrupted countries - whatever office you go you are expected to pay a bribe to speed things up and to have any interest from the bureaucrats.
edit: it was in reply to Weho post

or it's just a cooler weather and the end of the rainy season which influenced moods and emotions?

As, my post being lame, I think not , as I have earned one undergraduate and two post graduate degrees I do not think of myself as idotic. The United States is not bent on military domination and never has, indeed just the opposite.
the usa is the world biggest armament seller - including weapons forbidden by the international conventions (mines, chemical agents etc).
The US Army needs wars to test the new weapons. It's international relations create chaos, tension and stirrup local conflicts in order to sell the not-so-new weapons to everybody around who only wants to buy them.
most probably thew old bush came to do some business for his family - as he does with osama bin laden's family. As romans used to say 'pecunia non olet'

a 2 days ago a had a look at the wide opened mashinery room (aircon system?) in the departure area air-side - I wanted to do a shortcut to my departure gate after leaving the toilet.
nobody was there and the door was opened.
if anybody wanted to affect the functioning of the airport that would be dead(ly) easy

a week ago I was clearing bushes just a few metres from my home and a 50 cm long green snake moved slowly away from me (despite all the noise from the builder's machines and from myself chopping the wood).
thais told me to get out because it's a poisonous one - I have returned the next day to finish the job but carefully removing all the foliage from the ground away from me.
no, I wouldn't like to see any snake fangs - unless it's a dead snake

silom is on the east side.
for 55k/month on Thonburi (the west side) you can have a luxury 5 bedroom villa.
I have 2 houses to rent 10k/month on Thonburi - cheap internet (15 baht/h) around the corner or istall your own

came back Bangkok - Heathrow yestarday (24.12) in the morning.
No problems but tents for the waiting passengers are still outside the terminal and there are hundreds of uncollected luggages by the belts.
Had to wait some 25 minutes for my suitcase - a much longer than usual
-
last night I was flying out of Bangkok to London with Lufthansa - check in time for some passengers was some 10 minutes (they put trainees for the work), still there weren't long ques.
travel by the airbus from the Khaosan Rd took only 50 minutes (departing 9.10 pm)- I was the only passenger but still 2 bus controllers had to stop and board the bus close to the airport (after re-routing it from the expressway) and check all the drivers paperwork.
a lot of (at least 20) security kids seating needlessly by the gates around the x-ray machines doing precisely nothing.

even if you are on a tight budget do at least 3 bedrooms - extending your house in the future might be difficult or impossible.
thai houses need deep fundation - up to 6 metres beems to reach the steady ground under. Do house on high stilts because of the rainy season water - doing 3 metres stilts will allow you to build an additional bathroom under the house with a washing mashine, a drying area for a laundry, an open air sitting area, a cover for a car/motorbike as well as a storage room or even an additional bedroom.
buy the second hand wood locally - there is a lot of paperwork to be done if you want to bring it from another province. There should be such shop within a few kilometres of your house - they are often on the back, small sois (so ask your neighbours about their address). I have discovered one by chance just by a few sois from my house simply by cycling around the area. However don't buy second hand windows or doors - repairing them might be difficult and replacing them just after a year or two not worth all the hassle.
I would get some help on a semi-permanent basis - local builder will know cheap sources of materials and even do shopping for you to avoid ripping you off by the shop keepers.

try at different times and different systems - or ask your friends in thailand (by sending a text messege or email) to call you back
