Well, my own experience half March confirms what I say, I stay in Hong Kong, like to fly back to LOS but the flight was cancelled by Thai, only Thai where allowed to boarding that plane.

A foreigner only with medical certificate, but the hospital in HK refused to give.

We found a flight from HK to KL the same day, the next morning we where allowed with Air Asia to flight to Thailand.

    No problems at immigrations.

    Lucky

  2. Hey guys. Everybody knows Thailand is probably not going to open up to countries in Europe on the 1st of july. (Im from the Netherlands)

However, it might open up to Korea / vietnam / japan.

What do you guys think... Could it be a possibility to travel to one of these countries, go into quarantine then travel to Thailand and go into quarantine again?

Or do you think they will just look at your passport, and you're only allowed in, if you are a Korean/Vietnamese/japanese passport holder?

    Thanks guys.

I guarantee that you will not be allowed entry to Thailand, I doubt if you will even be allowed to check in. That is if the flight is not cancelled

We'll see. The sales guy told me I can get my money back in case the flight got cancelled or I cannot board for whatever reason. (always record my calls in case something happens, so got it on tape in case they'll be difficult about it)

Yeah, I was told the same. Good luck. All people who are not officially residents who need to get somewhere will need it. I regret not having incorporated and making myself an official resident of Taiwan. Since my I wasn't there full time or working, I always thought next year when I get more serious. Now I am screwed with a flat paid in advance for the full year unused and unable to get home.

Thanks man you too. Nothing to lose basically I was told I would get a full refund within 7 days in case the flight got cancelled.

They will have flights up with tickets to be sold but you might not know if you will be able to board or the flight will go until sometime near the week before. I bought a China Airlines ticket to Taipei end of April. Kept calling once each week, and it was all systems go. Then called last Friday and they said as I was a non citizen/resident I could not board my June 1 flight, but maybe in July...I would get full refund for the June ticket and could buy a new one. Told me to call around June 20 to see if I could board in July. They set up the flights but will knock them down the moment they are told a new extended ban is on.

Yup. I just bought a ticket for 3rd of July - Amsterdam -> Bangkok with Lufthansa, their support told me the flight will go. So fingers crossed. Will visit the embassy next week for my visa.

That is great, but what will be required to enter the country? . Medical certificate that you are virus free? 1 million in medical insurance. If this is what will be the requirements I don't think to many people will arrive in amazing thailand.

I myself have not seen my wife an son for 8 months, already booked flight for the 8th of July, but as stated who knows what will be the requirements?

Even though it seems high lots of health insurance have that high of a coverage.

    embassy = foreign affairs ministry

    immigration = interior ministry

covid 19 restrictions = health ministry

unfortunately in Thailand it happens very often the

right hand don't know what the left hand is doing

and there is no head with a brain at the top to coordinate all the mess

Hmm I guess it's all a waiting game. But I do think what he said on the phone to inform with the airlines is a good idea, I think that if an airline can confirm that they will in fact fly to BKK on set date that they wouldn't just say that without confirmation from the government. That's also what the guy from the embassy told me.

I recently compared different health insurances. When you compare them and contact them, they do not exclude pandemics or corona, unless you had it before joining of course.

Travel insurances usually excludes that, but not health insurance. Immigration asks for health insurance anyway.

Yup exactly, literally just now came off the phone with my travel insurrance they told me the same thing.

The indicator will be when the hotels open up for booking on agoda/booking.com or whatever system the Chinese use. Maybe some TV member has insight into if this is already happening. Arrivals in July will mean hotel reservations by mid-June at least.

That's some smart thinking. I think that and confirmed flights is what we should be looking for from now.

You can bet the airlines will be insisting on fairly rigorous proof of health before they board someone on an 8-hour flight. Maybe a reliable C-19 negative test within 48 hours. Maybe even rapid testing at the airport.

I think so as well. Emirates and a few other airlines already have 10 minute tests in place.

I hate to burst your bubble as I too am in the same boat but we still face many problems...

    1. How will we get Covid insurance ?(Likely to be compulsory to enter Thailand )

    2. Will we face 2 weeks quarantine on arrival? (I assume so)

    3. How will we get medical certificate proving we are covid free? (also likely to be compulsory and difficult to obtain ).

    4. We are behind a huge back log of expatriates and Thais still waiting to get back to Thailand. They will be on flights before us.

    5. Before lockdown certain high risk countries were made to meet special requirements , if your from US or UK we are about as high risk as it gets. We will probably be last to be permitted entry.

Again, I hate to sound negative but it’s not as simple as the lockdown ending on July 1st.

Very true man. If it's just a question of money I don't mind spending it, and I'm also okay with a 14 day quarantee.

It's all a guessing game now though... However it's still great news today. ????

I did not see July 1 as the fully open date in any major news outlet.  is this for real?

Vietnam is fully open on July 1.  Thailand needs to hurry up to stay competitive in the internal travel arena.

It's on both the Thaiger and the bangkok post. But you're right. For now I'm going to keep looking every day on the Finn Air flight schedule since they already announced a while back to be resuming flights. So I won't have to pay double or twice the normal rate, if I can book it fast.

At the moment they are repatriating 300 Thai nationals each day, I read that all flights are fully booked for June

I assume the number of 300 each day is due to limited availability of Goverement facilities for the 14 Day 14-day mandatory quarantine. Mu understanding is they initally tried 14 day self isolation but found that people lied about their previous travel and were going out meeting people during the 14 day self isolation period

Scenes from a Thai government Covid-19 quarantine facility: barracks living, but great Thai food

As long as there's wifi and I can work on my business and watch some netflix at night I'm fine. Even if it's in quote on quote prison lol.
