  1. To answer my own question Went to my branch this morning, presented my bank book and passport. it had been 15 days 20 minutes later my account was unlocked
  2. I was advised when getting my account verified, that the process would take 7 days. As of today, it’s been two weeks. I opened the account on a tourist visa, but obtained a retirement visa just over a year ago. What I would like to known if anyone in the same boat has managed to unfreeze their account in BB. if so how did it happen, did you attend your branch did they phone you, or did it just magically start working?
  3. Eight days ago when I visited my jomtien branch of BB to verify my account with all the relevant documents. It was opened whilst on a tourist visa. I’m now on a retirement visa. Was told it would be verified in seven days. This morning received an email from Netflix stating that this month subscription had not been paid. Tried to pay something else online but denied. Contacted the call center, but all I got was, you need to speak to your branch. This is so frustrating. When this cycle of my retirement visa is finished in November, I will be moving all my retirement fund out of the bank into my newly opened kasikorn bank.
  4. It was available in my paperwork, but not asked for
  5. I visited jomtiem immigration today to obtain a certificate of residency for a new bank account ( dumping BB ) they wanted photocopies of front page of my passport entry stamp page from my passport Retirement stamp from my passport completed application letter with the reason for the request Lease contract copy of the house book copy of the owners ID card two photos B300 a visit to desk 10, then desk 9 immigration was the busiest I’ve seen it.. two trips in the queue for around 45 minutes each
  6. I went to dtac on 3rd floor of central festival, Pattaya obtain letter .. cost B150
  7. Check out an American rock blues duo called “ Sons of legion “ found them recently, can’t stop playing their music
  8. I have a monthly payment set up with wise to pay my rent. This month it was bounced by the recipients bank. Made a second attempt, again bounced back to me. Wise kept me fully updated. Contacted the recipient and established that she had changed her first name on her bank account without advising me. I changed her details with Wise, submitted the payment again, went through with no more issues. apart from this incident, never had a problem with Wise in 3 years
  9. I had a serious problem with being bitten by mosquitoes, the cheap sprays didn’t really work for me. Someone suggested “Off “ which is the bright orange can. This stuff was excellent and really worked for me. someone stated that mosquitoes really like O resus positive blood, it’s like the best wine for them. That is my blood group, and “ Off “ worked for me. i think the makers wanted to call it something similar starting “ F “
  10. Been in Pattaya now for a month. Would like to say publicly a big thank you to ianguygil for his help and advice. I had all the required paper work that the bank required. Barring one small issue relating to accident insurance which I declined. I now have the required account and funds relating to my retirement visa are in place.
  11. Purchased a 60 day tourist e-visa in London seven weeks ago I arrive in Thailand early August on that visa. assuming that the 60 day visa exempt is operational on 15th July, are there any benefits from presenting it to immigration on arrival, or not ?
  12. When I came to Thailand last year for 3 months, I picked a dtac tourist sim at BKK airport. Few days later I went to dtac shop in Central festival mall and purchased a 3 month package with unlimited data. My condo did have broadband, for a fee, I didn’t use it. my iPad connected to the iPhone and I had untroubled service throughout my stay. Cost was B1100
  13. My first application for a tourist visa in London last year needed bank statements. My second request this year, they didn’t ask. i assume they used my previous bank info.
  14. Thank you everyone who contributed to this thread. I’ve decided to open the account myself, I have a good idea of what a bank needs if it proves to be a nightmare, then I’ll engage the services of an agent. Again thank you for all the advice.
  15. Thank you all for your replies… to enlarge further i arrived in August on 60 day tourist visa, will obtain additional 30 extension at Jomtien. After which I intend to apply for a retirement visa. The financial requirements for the retirement visa I already have in my wise account. I also intend to deposit a monthly amount, likely in excess of 65k per month. so I need a Thai bank account to hold the 800k, which I will not touch. I then need an account for the monthly deposit for my day to day living expenses, rent, food, entertainment etc. as such that account I would access to an app in English for both my iPad and phone, also a physical debit card. The agent has quoted 10k, 12k, and 7k Talking to long term expats, although their stories varied, it’s was in the region of 5.5k some with unwanted insurance, others with not. After challenging the agent ( in a polite manner ) she stated the sums quoted were the bank charges not hers. Thailand banks I’m sure have charges, service fees etc, but I’m sure they are not that high. i just feel that the agent is gilding the lily somewhat in her favour. She is a small outfit and I’m happy to help her earn a living, but not if she is taking the pi$$
