And being a transport minister he can blame everything on the good old "Brake failure"

This is a headline in Hungary:
People vaccinated with the Chinese vaccine have been warned: "protect yourself as if you had not been vaccinated"

I can't find the section in the book where Gov ministers party at ThongLo then kick off a third wave.Is that part in the book's appendix?Maybe they use a different book here in Thailand!
"Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered officials in all state agencies to work at home until the end of the month if possible and recommended that the private sector follow suit, to help to contain the spread of the third outbreak.
Dr Opas said limiting the movement of people would curb the pandemic. Every province could play a key role."
Limiting the movement of people???? :))))))))). Hmmmm. Sure. Encouraging people to travel, but they want limited movement. I guess the solution to this oximoron can be found in the different book the poster was refferring to. Jesus they are dumb. We are doomed.

967, 985, 965. If the next two days are 960 to 980 then someone's a fiddling
Same thing happened to my country. (Hungary) They had limited testing at the begginning so the daily new cases never went up above 1000. What happened next is....... Hungary was leading the daily death rate / capita for at least 2 weeks. If you look at the death / million Hungary is Nr 4 on the list of countries. Number 2 if you don't count Gibraltar and San Marino following Chech Republic. Gibraltar is not a country. San Marino neither.

I was posting this to a wrong thread yesterday, sorry for the re-post.
Is this really happening???
After one year into the pandemic, what did Thailand do to mitigate the damage other than…..
1, coming up with bogus and idiotic ideas every week, such as : travel bubble, Phuket model, STV visa, golf quarantine, ASQs, area quarantine, Hub of everything, target therapy, and sandbox.
After all this brain farting for a year, at least 16 (Sixteen)!!!!! people arrived in Phuket the other week, so I guess it’s a success.
2, After one year into the pandemic, and after numerous lockdowns, alcohol bans, curfews, and controversial policies, which pretty much killed an entire industry (tourism), we are back to square one.
3, After one year into the pandemic and a year-long chance of learning from other countries, what is working and what isn’t, they still couldn’t come up
with a protocol for testing people. Charging 3-5000 Thb for a test, admitting the positive cases to a hospital bed, and then refusing to take more tests because of shortages of beds?
I know that is free tests are also available, but there are many articles about people are avoiding being tested, because they are afraid of forced hospitalization and probably huge hospital bills.
Is getting prepared in LOS illegal? One year was not enough to get prepared? It’s comforting to know that Thailand has 3-400,000 test kits available. Really? That’s all they have?
Some smaller countries are testing more than that per day.
4, After one year into the pandemic and the clear message that only vaccination (and not travel bubbles and area quarantines) can bring back normalcy, where is the evidence that Thailand was working hard to sign agreements with all available vaccine producers? (most countries signed these agreements 6 months ago with various companies without knowing who can deliver at the end)
Thailand was opted out of a COVAX program that delivers vaccines to poorer countries. The result? Every neighboring SE Asian country and even Africa is well ahead of Thailand, in terms of vaccination.
5, After one year into pandemic Thailand, just allowed the private sector to obtain other available vaccines. The request was made some 5 months ago.
I would be surprised if they could pull this off, as most vaccine producers have limited supplies, and I’m sure it’s been reserved and paid, for the next 6-12 months.
So unless these private companies are willing to pay 5 or 10 times more for a single dose I don’t see this option viable.
Rumors about Astra-Zeneca being produced locally is great news, however being an expat and knowing the way things go in LOS, I have my doubts.
6, After one year into the pandemic, is it a coincidence or just bad luck, that the only “Widely” available vaccine is Sinovac? The vaccine which is the least effective of any available jabs.
Is it a coincidence that CP group (the biggest conglomerate in Thailand) is a large stakeholder in this company? https://www.kaohoon.com/content/413496
7, Ohh dear Songran. After one year into the pandemic didn’t they learn that human contacts are the culprits of spreading the virus? I’m very satisfied that they quickly found
the new scapegoats “entertainment venues” (awesome work Sherlocks), but the math just doesn’t add up. I’m not an expert, but using only common sense….
entertainment venues = few hundred contacts vs. Songran traveling = Millions!!!! I might be wrong though, and I just hope that one year of sacrifice and relative safety was not for nothing.
If it’s really the UK strain that causing this new uptick in cases, we might be looking into a very dark 2021. This strain is devastating Europe even though they are well ahead of their vaccination program.
As of today, Thailand has the wrong protocol of handling test positives, no effective vaccine, and yet encouraging millions of people to travel across the country.
Why are the borders still closed? What’s the point of that and at the same time letting Millions travel? Why the lie about individual province restrictions? There are NONE.
People are reporting worry-free travel to any of those provinces that announced restrictions.
8. Only one question left. Are they doing all this on purpose, or they are really that stupid?

Ok. I stay home 14-15 days as directed. Does it mean that I'm safe to return to my life after this period? Nope! During my self-quaranteen 15 days people will still spreading the virus, so it is totally pointless without a mandatory full lockdown. After my 15 days I can just start an other 15 and an other, as long as the virus is spreading. With this logic and without lockdown they might as well open the country. There's no differnce between locals spreading the virus or visitors.

Islands such as Koh Samui could be among the first destinations to welcome foriegn tourists as it would be easier for the authorities to monitor arrivals and implement quarantine, should the need arise.
As a Samui resident and hotel owner one should say it's a "great idea" However, I would say <deleted> you TAT. The idea of bringing tourist to an island which can be sealed off, again and again if the virus shows up, it will create more losses and pain, than as it is right now. These morons should be playing with their own peanuts instead of desperately trying to get some money by risking a whole island. Taking China off the list of infected countries and allowing them to come here with direct flights is insane. Domestic tourism yes, international not so fast. So thank you, but NO thank you.

I'm in Koh Samui right now. According to the authorities and the infection map there's not a single covid case in samui. Normally this news would be a great one, but I rather trust a flat earther at the moment then to the Thai authorities. So here's my story at the moment, which makes me think of overstaying. I had a Non O which expired in December 2019. I got my last 3 months stamp valid to 24th of March. I was planning to go home (Hungary) before this date, so I wasn't really looking into any other solution. About a week ago I realized that going home would be out of question so I said fine, I will go out in Ranong and come back as a tourist. Well this option is gone too. There might be a 60 day extension ( I was reading somewhere in the forums) for family members (I have a Thai wife) but I'm not sure if I can get this as most of our original docs are in Hungary. I have only copies here. We tried to get information here in samui immigration but there were hundreds of people inside a small waiting room all trying to solve their cases. Pretty smart huh? In the middle of a global meltdown due to this virus, what is the smartest thing to do? Let's squeeze hundreds of people from at least hundreds of different nations into a small room. Brilliant. I left the place in a second. So, I have two days to find a solution that doesn't put me into any greater danger than overstay. During my 8 years in Thailand I never been stopped or checked for visas. Helmet yes. Never for a visa. At the moment I'm a managing director of 3 companies with my wife, we have 30 Thai employees and at least a hundred others that are working with our contractors. We called different immigration offices to find a solution to my problems, and we explained them all the above. Not a single officer was willing to help or at least try to find a solution. They were busy and probably don't even care. Fine. On the other hand my wife received a 5 year residence permit in Europe. She can go anywhere anytime and most importantly she can stay worry free. No visa runs, no bulls... I accepted the fact that this is Thailand, things are different here. In normal times I wouldn't mind to travel every 3 months to do my visaruns. BUT! these are not normal times. I'm not saying that overstaying is the best solution, but if everything else is more difficult and put me in more danger, then so be it. I'll stay as long as I can. /
In the meantime: Eat well. Drink plenty. And be safe from evil.

Thailand reports 1,335 new COVID-19 cases

How do you know we haven't reached this point? With limited testing and people avoiding being tested, the official number might be the tip of the iceberg. To be fair. The hospitalization numbers and especially mortality is not even near compared to other countries. If we can avoid being hospitalized or even worse dying to this virus, the daily positive numbers are meaningless as far as I'm concerned.
