When you find a way let me know. I'm trying to figure out a way to get all my Thai girlfriends over here cheaply, and without marrying them. I'm missing them already and it's only been two weeks.
Bringing them over easy, it's the not marrying them part that's difficult

Hello,
I'm looking to ship my personal effects back to Canada and looking for a cost effective way to do so. I don't mind waiting so ocean shipping is not a problem. I'll move the equivalent of a 1 br condo incl. a few computers, LCD TV, some furniture, clothes etc. I'm sure this has been done many times but I couldn't find anything by searching. Thanks in advance

This monopoly issue goes back to the Air Transport Act which hasn't been renewed since it's inception in the 50's (or so I'm told). I don't think that many governments would allow a monopoly on airport ownership/use for the only airport servicing a major tourist center. There is currently no law preventing this here, so on it goes, and BKK Air is taking advantage of it's position, which is clever business, but not so friendly to the customer and the other service providers who rely upon their customers. A monopoly will always operate in it's own best interest, so it is not surprising that the flights are trimmed to make each flight full and cost effective. Thing is, that 12 full flights per day won't fill 20% of rooms on the island, and here we are.
Long term this will be a real problem for Samui unless something is done about it.

The game will be shown live at the Billabong in Fisherman's Village. A friends just called and let me know they organised this so it's open to all who don't need to get up early for work (or go straight to work after...)
See you there -

Downloading does not install it AFAIK - you still have to make an installation disc. I would take computer to HP service and let them do the job, am sure they have software available. The last time I tried to us Microsoft for download they would not even accept my US address/card (I expect using IP trace to find I was not in US).
Microsoft has a free to download tool whereby you can mount the downloaded version directly onto a USB thumb drive and install from there. That's what I had planned initially. Now it seems that I will have to get a cd original and then beg borrow a portable drive or use another computer to make a bootable USB stick. It also means that I have to find a store (in Samui) that sells an original Microsoft Windows 7 Professional copy in English. Would be nice to simply download and go but it seems that won't be possible.
Thanks for all of your replies.

I am trying to purchase and download a legal upgrade to move my HP 2133 mininote from Vista (which I have always hated on this machine) to 7 professional. Since the netbook doesn't have an optical drive, downloading seems the easiest way to install. However, the Microsoft online store only seems to accept online purchases with a US address and zip code. I tried the Canadian site, but the online store component redirects back to the US site. The Thai site is all in Thai, and I don't want the Thai version anyway (if the defaults are all in Thai language).
Where can I download and pay with CC to purchase an upgrade to Windows 7? Seems like I've fallen through the cracks here.

Why is it that terrorists can threaten people and indeed incite violence against the government, disrupt the public peace and infrastructure (both Red and Yellow) and nothing is done about it? Normal everyday Thais are having a hard go of things, with a higher cost of living and many living on less money these days, and yet terrorists can run free and do whatever they want? Very sad

I have this problem occasionally with Google Chrome and sometimes Firefox. This is due to browser level security. Switch browsers and see if you are still blocked.

Please clarify :
Do you join the new section of wire that leads to the (F) connector to the ecu side or the cut wire side?
Thanks

Actually, these touts provide a very useful service. Rather than lulling people into a false sense of security, they are there to remind you that you will absolutely get ripped off here. May as well start the first second you set foot into the country.

I suppose the closest thing to organised crime here is the police - they expect and collect protection money, are involved in the drug trade, scam and siphon money during their "normal" job. They are probably closely challenged by other government offices here - land dept, tessabaan etc. They are organised, and are involved at various levels in mischeif. After that you have the big families - they occasionally shoot one another over turf and opportunity issues, etc. Then there are the little guys. They just try to get what they can when they can. I don't think that any of these levels of "mafia" has anything to do with one another, and calling them organised might be a stretch but since these levels cover a huge stretch of the population, and come up in some way in everyday life it becomes expediant to simply refer to the "mafia". I suppose that is many people's way of saying here, "on the take" or something like that.

That stretch of road always makes me nervous. I've ridden bikes for 30 yrs and raced professionally at one point, but the hills, blind corners, trucks, crazy drivers of all nationalities - local and foreign etc makes me go reaaaaaaalllllllly slow. There are so many places for something bad to happen. I was coming back to Haad Rin one time through Baan Kai and where the road goes through that S bend, where all the shop houses are close together a minivan full of tourists was passing a truck who was trying to pass a motorbike. I had no where to go but onto someones front porch. A very close call.
RIP to Andrea.

Well, it seems obvious that they are more expensive per liter, and maybe they mess with the pumps as well to give you less than a liter etc ??

Japhrodisiac,
yea i sure do know what you are talking about in regards to the std triton std suspension set up.
the great news is i as well am still using std rims 16"
now if you are ok with your std rideheight, but want a stiffer front, a slightly softer back,
good onroad stability with good offroad capability.
ok what i recommend, is first of you need to change your shocks and then we can either take of a leaf spring,
which will reduce the load capity but will offer you a softer rear end. or we can leave the leaf spring,
and just adjust the shocks.
the shocks i recommend is Project X, we have white-family, blue-street/sport and red-racing series.
for your application Blue would do perfect.
it is a full monotube 360* mounting capability,
big bore, super high strength road, full ride height adjustable (lower 2" to raise 3.5") and custom tuneable.
we take your words into concideration and your application, and we can set it from very soft to very stiff and everywhere inbetween.
for the rear shocks, you will love the Project X, as the rear shock not only comes with the,
monotube, 360* mounting ability, big bore, high strength road, ride height adjustable, custom setup but MORE over,
it comes with a light set of springs, the springs on the rear shock help control and even out the damping and rebound rate.
Here is a picture of the shock set.
now depending on the stiffness you go for, i can easily assure you can handle serious speeds, handle corners a hel_l of alot better,
and IN WET TRACTION will be heavily increased and also less bodyroll.
these shocks are the only shocks in the market for there price to offer such a performance.
Blue set: B32,000 -including free fitting, free wheel alignment-camber and free setup. 2yr Strong warrenty assured.
that is the set price for the shocks,
if you decided to modify and take off the leaf spring,
Leaf spring setup and bend alteration: B4000.
---it is not required to change your front springs, unless you have more budget and you want a slighter stiffer but more balanced front,
on top of what the shocks can provide.
of if you want springs to,
we recommend KING springs from australia,
they are about 1-1.5mm thicker then std, and gives a more response feel, better steering control and direction, not to menation extra stability.
my point is though, is it is not nessary to change the spring, unless you feel to support the shock more.
KING SPRING: B11,000.- Free fitting/service
now if you want to do all of this,
we need about 3-5hrs to finsh the setup and tuning.
contact no: 086-086-3221
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like just the ticket. Are anti-sway bars also available and do they decrease ground clearance significantly? Also thinking about a mild brake upgrade. Cheers -

philipm,
I have a mild set of mods in mind. I use my 2007 4x4 Triton 3.2 Limited both on and off road, the stock ride height is fine, I have changed tires to something a little better for offroad, but what I am looking for is a good compromise between on and off road useability. I think that the stock suspension is designed to carry a load, so the front is relatively soft, the rear too stiff and the dampening doesn't match either. It pitches and reacts oddly to bumps as you know. I want to keep stock rims, or change eventually but all mods will be based on stock rims and ride height. What do you suggest suspension wise?
Also, the engine could use a slight boost, but not at the great expense of mileage. Simple mods are fine and I don't like loud diesels. Cheers -

Have seen this Dash 7, 48 seater aircraft arrive and depart in the past and just asking if anybody has had any experience with this airline. Have perused a few reviews on Skytax and must admit that I dont have much enthusiasm to try it. So, any good??
Having used both Berjaya and Firefly then I would always choose Firefly.
Everything about this flight, the service (none), the aircraft (interior falling apart), always late (1hr on the way there, 2hrs on the way back) etc - was awful. The return flight was almost empty but they insisted on charging me for 2kgs extra baggage, had no credit card machine, I had to run to the atm in a dingy airport (Subang was/is being "refurbished" then). Better to take the Firefly route. I would never take this plane again.

another way is to purchase small gold bars in Bangkok and store them in either a safety deposit box at a bank or in a safe at home.
-
Bullionvault.com is a good place, they warehouse gold in secure sites for you in either London, New York or Zurich. They are a big player in gold, and have reasonable commissions etc.

Japhrodisiac:syllium husk and bentonite clay supplies for a home detox/cleanse
Uh, is this the stuff you want to water down and force up your outlet in an effort to "detox/cleanse" your system? Did you run out of coffee grounds? Used tea leaves?
Dude! Buy a blender!
Seriously, syllium husk you can buy in any 7-Eleven. Bentonite clay is the stuff that they line the edges of the ring road with. Not the gravel, the stuff further out. There are numerous places that sell garden hoses, buckets and nozzles.
It's true, also, that salt sand in the right amounts ingested will help "scour" the intestines. Plenty of that around.
Enjoy your stay.
Lol, not the same stuff, and not for rear entry hosing either, thanks.

I'm looking to get the right psyllium husk and bentonite clay supplies for a home detox/cleanse. I can find packets at various pharmacies on island but usually it is packaged with other things, or is only psyllium. Can anyone point me to a source for there either in packets or raw form here on Samui? Cheers -

We went out the other night (12th at 11pm) and as soon as we parked the motorbike there was a direct hit in the face with the illegal pipe spray. Almost took my eye out and then he hit the GF in the same way. We ran away to the front of the bar but then on the raised upper terrace over the entrance a guy pours his beer over my GF's head. I give him a nasty look and he starts kicking through the grate trying to get at us. Nice people. We just got back on the bike and went home. Both perps were tatooed and shaved-headed farangs. My GF asking me if farangs party like this at home. She's from Issan and says that at home they never do like that, and they are supposed to stop after dark.

I would also add that the work and service at Bangkok Samui Hospital dental clinic was recently outstanding. Probably pay a bit more but follow ups are not charged for, the work was top rate.
