Assume he would apply for eVisa (tourist)
That might be granted however on arrival in Thailand io should notice his reentry permit.
OP did not indicate his friend had a reentry permit.
my friend has already obtained 60 days tourist evisa from his country. He didn't have a re-entry permit last time, he just left

Yes.
The extension is simply a permission of stay with an expiry date.
If you exit Thailand without a reentry permit then the POS is gone.
The friend won't have an issue..
The other alternative is simply to return and enter visa exempt.
Depends on plans ongoing.
If he only left due to divorce he could consider obtaining METV that would provide almost 9 months and provide time to consider future options.
How old is the friend
Thanks for the answers. He is 42 years old

In that case his permit ends.
He can return with tourist visa and yes can obtain a 30 day extension.

yeah... but was the marriage extension automatically cancelled the day he left the country?

I am asking for a friend of mine, Switzerland passport. He is going to come back to thailand with a tourist visa but last time he forgot to go to the immigration office to cancel his marriage extension the day of divorce( he already exit the country some months ago by the way with no issues). Can he come back with no issues? And he won't have any problem to extend these 60 days tourist visa for another 30 days?

My friend didn't have any issues when he applied for a tourist e/visa. The embassy approved it within 7 days. Maybe the op made some mistakes with the online application

I haven't been able to find an answerable email.
Normally they can reject your application if you make some common mistake, wrong info ecc.

Yeah, same thing happened to me, can't recall how I got around it, but this new e-Visa is a bit of a nightmare at the moment. Guess its teething stage, but its not as straight forward as it use to be when ou popped into your City's Thai Consulate office
Don't worry, they approved the visa to my friend anyway. If you put all the correct passport info into the online application you don't have to be worried!

When submitting a tourist e-visa online can I book just one night accommodation for the first night , as I want to travel to all over Thailand, it's just to hard to work it all out otherwise ,,,thanks for any help. Regards Popa
My friend booked 7 nights hotel accomodation just to avoid any issues with the application. They approved his tourist e-visa yesterday and he cancelled the booking for free after the visa approval. Everything ok with the requested documents!

My friend has successfully uploaded all papers to the online application but he doesn't know what type of ticket out of thailand to buy. Do you think it is too expensive to buy a flexible ticket around 65 USD? At least he could cancel it later and take money back. He doesn't really trust on buying dummy ticket even is much cheaper

That photograph is "meant" to be a passport style image
On the two applications I did it came up on screen as I uploaded it "meets passport requirements" (or very simiilar words)
As regards accomodation I just copied and pasted airbnb address (translated from thai to English)
The embassy wont reject outright the visa application but doubtless can ask for clarity on something else uploaded or missed out completely
Several guys in the early days noted that if you write anything in a particular section the application at least gets uploaded anyway
I mean the biodata page of the passport, not the photo. When the system scans his passport info tells him that is unable to read data on middle name but my friend doesn't have any middle name

My friend uploaded a photo of the passport but the system tells him that is unable to read data on middle name but he doesn't have a middle name on his passport. Can he ignore it and just complete the application? He is afraid that the embassy could reject his paid visa

A friend of mine has booked a flight to Thailand for June and he is submitting an online visa application on the thai e-visa website. They are asking him an onward flight out of Thailand within 60 days, a photo not older than 6 months and a proof of accomodation. Can he just buy an onward ticket that is valid for 48 hours and upload the booking reservation to the online application? About the photo how can he upload it? It's fine to take a selfie with the phone? And about the proof of accomodation can he book an hotel for a week and after they approve his visa application just cancel the booking free of charge? Let me know thanks
They also ask him about the job but he prefers not to mention his company. Can he just choose any job that he doesn't do?

Does it works fine to upload an onward flight that is available only for 48 hours on the thai e-visa website to get a 60 days tourist visa? Can someone let me know? If yes how to do if also the airline could ask for this onward flight out of thailand when arrive at the airport? Because the onward ticket would not be valid anymore at that time

I have my own house in my country, i don't pay rent

I forgot to ask: there is need to show an onward flight out of Thailand within 60 days at the immigration arrival at the airport or to the airline If you got a 60 days tourist visa in your home country?

Thank you very much for the advice!

You can only do 2 land border entries per year so your best option is to get a tourist visa and first enter by air, 60 days + 30 day extension. Then 1 land border run + 30 day extension. 1 more land border run brings you to 180 with still the option of another 30 day extension.
I am already in Thailand. Just looking for an advice on how to stay here for 6 months. Then go back to my country and come back again every year
-
It's possible to come to Thailand one time a year and stay for 6 months? Come with 30 days free visa exemption, then extend 30 days at immigration and start to do a few border run with extension at immigration. So 180 days total! Is there anyone who has done this often?
-
Thank you for the information. Can someone tell me what's the process to apply for a METV online? How many papers to provide for the e-visa website? My friend is thinking to apply for a multiple tourist visa to stay longer in Thailand. He comes from England

He will not have any issue entering Thailand visa exempt after 6 months out.
BTW: a new pp would change nothing.
great, thanks!

the last time he had a normal 30 days exempt with some border runs was years ago, after he married but he got divorced but now he would like to come back as a tourist after he left thailand since 6 months
Come back to thailand
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
