  1. I had the under consideration stamp on my passport, that says I need to be back on April 23rd to get extra 10 days.  With the second amnesty till July 30th.  Is there any point that I go back to the Sa Kaeo immigration on the April 23rd? I am not going to be able to get any long stay than the july 30th. Anybody has some advice?  Thanks

Today you are good until the 30th. Before the 30th there will be another date set.

I won't bank on there will be another visa amnesty before April 30th.  For starters,  everything here moves slowing: Thais are not in a hurry to do anything.  Also, they did not announce last amnesty for after March 26 people until April 7.  Most were expecting the April 30 amnesty to be announced before March 30 to actually give people 30 days time.  But we know what happened.  I think they may do the same this time.  It will be later for a few days.

Due to my own experience (already came back to IMM office after under consideration stamp), I can only answer you the last part: you only need to bring your passport that day you go back there. Nothing else. No photocopy, no photo.

I also brought the receipt of payment (those 1900 you paid when they stamped you under consideration) but i wasnt ask for it. So, up to you.

I recommend you to go. We are starting to have a common understanding here that "under consideration" people needs to attend to imm office. If we are wrong, you will discover it by yourself, and I hope it's empty enough so you can get things solved fast. And dont forget to ask them if now you are eligible for the "automatic thing". And please let us know! (my covid extension ends on April 25).

I can second that. I plan to go back on April 23rd to stamp on passport. Currently, it says under consideration till April 23rd.

  4. I do not think the land border run option is available immediately after April 30.  One option is to pay somehow to get visa extension.  If you do not know how, find an immigration layer who can help you.  Money talks and there is always a way.

You other option might be to wait for another visa amnesty. If no visa amnesty comes, you just have to pay the 500 baht per day fine when you fly out of Thailand.

My plan is to extend my visa somehow myself when my visa expires on May 3rd.  If I can do it myself, I do it myself.  If not, pay a lawyer to do it.  Not too rosy, but hey this is war situation now.  Play to be safe rather than sorry.

I plan to fly back to China in May.  Keep my figure crossed that China will be opened to foreigners then even if with some strings attached.

Important UPDATE of my earlier post.

It seems that the 'amnesty announcement' is also NOT applicable for long-stay Non Imm O or O-A Visa holders on an extension of stay.

I got under consideration till April 23rd for my 30 day extension application at Sa Kaeo.  I do plan to get in on 23rd to get another 10 days to May 3rd or in other word the rest of 30 days extension.  Thai granting visa relief decision is kind of slow judging for the relief decision on people with March 26 expiration: ideally, that auto extension decision should have made before 26th of March not in early April. I play safe to get my extra fews days in case decision to extend relief beyond April 30 is not made before April 30.

  6. It seems that a lot of countries are talking about easing lockdown.  Trump is thinking about May.  Thailand coronavirus new cases are down significantly after the lockdown since late March.  China is reopening Wuhan and opening schools on April.  With all these easing within the borders, easing of international travel will sure to follow. Keep my fingers crossed.

  7. I have been to the Philippines once.  Can't say I am too impressed with the food there. But I really want to get out and travel now. You can only sit on your ass and do nothing at your hotel for so long.  By the way, are they going to stop you if you drive across provinces in Thailand now?  I live in Sa Kaeo.  It seems to be ok to drive to neighboring  province and come back.  We were checked once for Corona virus check at province border and they let us go but they asked Thais to show ID and register something.  I do not like to be stopped by police at a foreign country.  I heard they you do not get stopped by police as much in other SE Asia countries.  Hope it is true.

  8. I am waiting to fly out of Thailand and back to China.  China does not all non citizens to go there.  I expect this total ban to last till the end of April.  In May, international school and university there will reopen.  Chinese government may allow foreign teachers to go back at the end of April, one month after they announced the bank: purely my speculation.

This may be a bit too optimistic, but I think within 2 months in fairly likely for China for foreigners with legit reasons.  For tourists, Sept 1 for China is my guess as by then all schools including kindergartens are supported to be back to normal.

  9. I think the safest thing to do right now is get the embassy letter and then apply for the 30 day extension. I applied for my extension on April 3rd at Sa Kaeo province and got stamp till April 23rd.  Was told to go back on 23rd to get 10 more days when Bangkok approves. Yes, you do need 6 items people are talking about  but my hotel was more than nice to supply all the required documents.  Line was long and I was there for almost 2 hours.  Immigration staff there was nice to everyone but the procedure has to be followed: this is life.
