Who is Thailand planning to spy on with them? The surrounding waters are too shallow to provide cover while going out. Defense wise sort of a joke. A single Trident could probably roll up the entire Thai Royal Navy. Sorry about that, generals. A nice ski boat would be a more practical acquisition, IMO.

Don't know if it is any help/relevance. Just applied for my " non O visa based on marriage" at Samut Prakan IO.
The would not hear about 45,000 baht monthly income, only 400,000 in a bank account. No talk of "seasoning" in advance, but warned it must stay for 60 days, and next time ok to show ten months of 45,000 baht deposits, if I understood the young man correctly. BTW, it was my Thai wife who scraped up the 400,000 baht on short notice, for the "all Thai women want..." crowd.????
We did it all yesterday, but have to return on Sept. 14 for results. I am guessing they send it to CW for approval, though I did not think to ask.

Trump being unable to read from the teleprompter is no longer big news, nor is the rush of his apologists to defend him and cast aspersions on his opponents, who were mostly just amused by still another demonstration of Presidential near illiteracy.
What "got" me was D'Souza defending it as correct pronunciation. In my years here I have never heard a Thai pronounce it as "Thighland".
I think most of even ardent Trump supporters can agree that D'Souza...is not a smart man.

So with an expired Non-O Multiple Entry Visa, and planning to get a 60 day extension based on wife/family, I guess I don't need to apply for the 60 day extension until before the 26th of September?
I think best to not wait until the last minute, as there will be many others who will as well.

As if the stranded tourists here are big spenders.
I think any tourist from western countries is a "big spender" by local, average standards.

My wife did some calling around. Savannakhet consulate currently open only for Thai business. She was told maybe early September for resumption of regular services.
I am guessing the "maybe" is an unusual acknowledgement of the uncertainties surrounding Covid 19.
I would rather that than the "pie in the sky" we have been getting from some other national "leaders" in the world.

Get rid of the $100,000 insurance bit and they might see a few tourist dollars. Set up a government sponsored medical insurance at tbaht 1,000/month, no elective procedures, and keep the dedicated residents healthy enough to keep spending.

Send the little brats back to skool and then the parents can go back to filling up them empty offices. Trump is an idiot but he is right about opening the economy and schools up.
You don't have children I would guess. Also not much education, in spelling English at least.

My current US vehicle is a Dodge diesel truck with 300,000 miles. I was a mechanic for a good part of my life, though physically unable to do the work anymore.
I have had a couple of Mercedes diesel sedans that went over that as well. Body corrosion was the end of those.
Maintenance is the key. I recall a friend of my dad's who kept a VW Beetle for over a million miles, but he was a mechanical engineer who changed the oil religiously at 3,000 intervals, and rebuilt the engine several times.
It all depends on your determination.- 1

That depends on your perspective. I’m currently stranded in the UK unable to travel back to Thailand.
Is there an opportunity for Foreigners (and Thai’s) to travel out of Thailand on one of the many International flights which are arriving daily?
If so, I don’t think Europeans are stranded in Thailand, however, I think Aus and NZ are limiting flights etc and some of those citizens could be stranded in Thailand, as could US citizens who may struggle to flight flight links into the US.
Cost can also be too prohibitive resulting in people being stranded for the time being.
The U.S. Embassy site indicated that loans may be available for repatriation flights, if you can find one.
I think the folks who say we "are not stranded" are either misinformed, or millionaires who can afford multiple flights around the world.????- 1

Went to a very nice hotel in Pattaya for the weekend at my step-daughter's behest. Very nice, comfy bed, nice bathtub, and an excellent buffet.
Couldn't help thinking that without Westerners none of these places would exist for the youngsters to become accustomed to.
On the other hand they might have pristine beaches a few hours closer to home. -
Any news, thoughts, or advice on when we can go to Savannakhet again?
I "snuck" in on March 18 on the no visa program, US citizen, and have been amnestied since.
I want to go to the consulate in Savannakhet to get a Non O based on marriage to a Thai, but all we have managed so far is the TM 30.
Possible to do a "change of status" when Ido not yet really have a visa, just an extension amnesty?

We went to immigration to try to get the TM30.situation straightened out. They said I am covered re: the automatic extension, and more or less to not worry about the TM 30 much just now.
My step daughter, who owns the house, tried to do the necessary on line, but it did not work.

is this an anti-foreigner website? - why not post about the Thai's on the beach as well?
For those deficient in reading skills, the article in fact mentions twelve Thais picked up in the same sweep.
Please read the entire articles before making ignorant remarks based only on headlines

So the PM has signed the proposed measure. Any idea yet what is involved?
I presented my wife with the Thai text, but not surprisingly it is in theThai version of obfuscucianism.
On a more specific note will TM 30 reporting be affected? We went straight into 14 day isolation and couldn't seem to make the online reporting work on our cell phones. (We are both old by Thai standards????????).

Answer to fishtank: yes, only 40,000. When I wrote I had my Social Security in mind, which is a bit over 45,000.
Glad I get a bit more from other investments, because as darling says, 40,000 ain't enough or two to be comfortable.
