So it had absolutely nothing to do with you being African and everything to do with you having to follow the exact same procedure as every other foreigner?
No , other foreigners dont need to exit Thailand to get an ED visa for a thai school .... atleast Europeans and Americans
-
Stranded foreigners who wish to stay in Thailand after October 31 must submit an application to an Immigration office by October 3.
so does this requires a letter from the embassy as well? what about the 1900 baht paid previously for my extension till the 26th oct ? can i use it for the 60 days ext?

Who told you? Was it immigration, a school or an agent?
The school..... basically they told me i need to get out of Thailand to apply for the ED visa at a thai consulate

I don't think it matters what is written on the letter from your embassy. Not being able to get a flight home is a good reason.
will they probably ask for a proof or reject it? .... im about to apply for a volunteer visa but if im able to extend my visa for another 3o days (till the 26th Nov) i can delay applying for it till next month.... i fear they may end up rejecting it then i wont have enough time for the volunteer visa process.
-
I have already extended my visa till the 26 Oct through an embassy letter , i wanted to get another 30days extension , so i contacted the embassy for another letter , they told me that they have already informed the thai authorities that the borders in my country are already open so they cant issue such letter , but they can issue a letter mentioning the difficulty of me obtaining a flight reservation , how likely immigration will accept such a letter and give me 30 days more extension ?

Your reading incorrectly.
However where did you meet agent.
You dealing with an office or some random individual?
actually its a thai school they told me they work with an agenst and they showed me a passport of an applicant who already got the stamp. for one year.
-
Today i asked an agent and he told me he can help me obtain volunteer visa for 12 month for a price of 50K and told me no voluteering required , but as im reading the forums about this visa i see comments mentioned that its cost 60K and and its only for three month and i have to renew it and also some volunteering works required...ect .... does my agent sound legit? .
(i already extended my visa with embassy letter till the 26 oct so i have time)

Hmm... i already got my embassy letter submitted to them on the fist week of august ....they told me to get back to the on the 8th September

same experience in North Africa, in Ivory Coast where we were quite often stopped, asking us our papers, searching our bags, baskets, (or basket for shopping) and calling us "white or roumi".
So let this gentleman first look at what is happening in his country, against the whites, and behave impeccably when he is in a country that is not his.
His country ?? im not from the ivory coast , and in my country we got no issues with whites ...you notice that africa is a large continent with 50+ countries ??....so relating me to an experience you had in a foreign country that dont share my culture / beliefs or tradition is a bit unfair i guess.

There is nothing official I am aware of about being able to apply with a "automatic extension" granted under the amnesty.
The list of requirements for the application is here by clicking 8 or 9. https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714
#8 talks about government education institution which is not my case
#9 it says its possible , then how everybody says that i need to get a new visa and re-enter thailand ? the automatic extension should not nullify my previous visa coz i was not able to extend it during the amnesty.

Try again. But it would help to have somebody from the University with you when you do the application.
my university staff position are saying the same thing ... that i have to re-enter the country so they are unreliable ...if there is any offical documents i can present it to them it will be helpful.

You would apply for a extension of the entry you got from your non-ed visa long ago.
i already tried to do that , i went to CW in May (before my visa was expired) and everything was shut down so i wasnt able to do anything at that time. so whats your suggestions?

Are you sure the understood you wanted to apply for a extension of stay based upon attending a university. What they told you sounds like you they thought you wanted a new visa.
They certainly should be able to accept a application for an extension of stay.
My visa quota was expired in May .... are you saying im able to extend this visa?....because as i understood i have to apply for a new visa coz im joining a new program.

Did you enter the country using a non-ed visa or as a tourist.
I entered using a non-ed visa which expired during the amnesty . i wanted to extend it coz i was accepted in new program at the same university

100% true. This is reality.
Whats wrong with the Police asking for your ID?
They were considerate enough to follow you to the apartment.
It is the "losing face" syndrome that makes one mad!
1- Their primary motive was not the ID ...they were looking if i had any drugs (not saying they dont care about my visa status)
2- They were only considerate enough to follow me to my apartment because it was incredibly close (i just left home on my way to 7/11) and it will cost them more to take me all the way to the police station.
3- going by the number of times i had been through things like this, you would understand why it is frustrating.

I went to CW with my university documents trying to get my visa renewed , they told me since its a private university they wont be able to do it domestically,
so the only way i can do it is by waiting till the borders are open go to a thai consulate in a neighboring country and get the visa , but even then i will be subject to expensive quarantine measures in both countries (thats if im allowedback in) , any other ways i can do it?

Are you an American? I think you are correct that blacks do get unfairly profiled due to the actions of certain Nigerians and other Africans. Especially in Bangkok. But if you prove that you are an American, that should help a bit....yes?
im not american ...are you saying they would react differently if i was ??....because they usually start by asking about my nationality ...i never hear about any instances of african-american being profiled ....probably coz they arent many of them in bangkok anyway.

But I am sure an old white pensioner are in less risk of being harassed by the police than a young black dude. They spot the skin of your color and your age from distance, he was stopped 15 times within a year. Says it all really.
That's absolutely right ... im not saying that other foreigners are immune to this ...it can happen...but seems ppl of a certain race is their primary target .... once i have seen a motorbike police driving around nana area and he only targets black people for their documentations ... they asked me ...then they drove few meters away from me to ask three black women ...then they went to the other side of the road and asked 2 black dudes... though the street was crowded with whites and asians but they never ask them. haha

What "grace period" are you referring to? I dont think there's any grace period for carrying proper ID as a foreigner in the country. Sounds like the police were more than reasonable in going to your home with yo. You probably wouldn't have received that in another country
grace period means they arent able to accuse you of overstaying till 26th September ... i usually carry my passport with me 24/7 which is quite terrifying and impractical ..because this incident happened while on my way from home to 7/11 just to get some groceries...

Seems sensible not to be carrying such a precious document as your passport around all the time.....can I ask (being too lazy to read all 4 pages of the thread).....is my Thai driving license good enough for the police?
The loop hole here seems to be that that doesn't show what visa permits you to be in Thailand?
Would they then ask to see your passport at a later date?
Can you show them photos (stored on your phone) of your passport and visa?
Iagree ... carrying my passport around with me all the time is risky , and in case i loose it then it will be a huge headache and time consuming doing everything all over again , when i told them im not carrying my passport then they asked me for a driver licence ... so seems it was sufficient enough , probably they were just inquiring about my identity and not my visa status at that moment , after i told them i dont have it then they asked me for a photo of my passport.

it is what it is, sorry you are having this problem but it's not about to stop and challenging them on it definitely would not have gone down well.
I have been here 7 years and was never asked for documentation once outside of immigration.. I've been through countless roadblocks as well.
however, I'm white and the only one time i questioned their red tape process and pushed for two minutes .. I ended up with one government officer lady disliking me and like 6 years later she still has an attitude about it.
thank you for your kind words...yeah this perception of africans is gonna continue and only time gonna change it ...the influx of Nigerians who use to do their dirty works are not active any more (as far as i can see) ..so the only thing left for them to do is to arrest and stop innocent black people till they eventually come to conclusion that its a waste of time and resources.

am i able to apply for a volunteer visa
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
i see , but i see ads all over facebook and the internet pages claiming that you dont need to leave the country , and when i asked the school they told me it doesnt apply to certain nationalities , previously , when i was studying at a thai university they told me if i need to renew my ED visa i have to re-apply at the thai consulate at my home country.
