OK .. bit late replying … sorry. You attach the gear to the highest point and suck …it will turn yellowish If CO2 is present …pic just testing the gear on wife’s car. You need to run the engine and test over about 30 mins but if a problem should see within a few minutes …IMG_5022.thumb.jpeg.d09f934723c7f2bbee769041d9ff13da.jpeg

If it's a head gasket or cracked head/block then it is a BIG problem.

If it is an issue with an oil/water heat exchanger then not such a problem but it is a P.I.T.A. to get everthing clean again.

Not really …well yeah it is …run the engine with a hose in where the radiator cap goes ..after a while stop the engine and add a quantity of liquid soap. Run the engine until hot as possible, ensure heater set to hot. Leave to soak. Then flush all the soap etc out …hose in radiator cap area again. Make enough room to add recommended manufactures coolant job done.

And as suggested previous …try a head gasket sealant … Google …Do Head Gasket Sealants Actually Work ( Full 2 year test)for interesting video.

  5. AVia is one of a number of liquids that will identify C02 in the gas within the cooling system. You can Google how it’s done.

I gave you bum information, it’s not available to buy in Thailand. WuRTH have similar product but only available to the trade, there maybe be other similar products available here but I haven’t seen any.  I know that CT14 Garage have imported it and can do the test.

    Hope this helps.

"They told my wife that they checked the chemistry on the first of the month."

    ????????????????????

YES, two days earlier. It should really be checked every day, especially when a change in the weather. They do use a stabiliser so maybe they think checking every day is overkill.

Beware. Certain things can get into your nasal passages that can cause extreme damage. If tap water can do this what do you think poorly treated pool water can do?

Person in Florida dies after brain-eating amoeba infection, possibly due to sinus rinse with tap water.

     —

A person in Charlotte County, Florida, has died after being infected with the rare brain-eating amoeba Naegleria fowleri.

The infection possibly resulted from “sinus rinse practices utilizing tap water,” according to a news release from the Florida Department of Health in Charlotte County. The release was issued in February to alert the public about the infection.

Infection with Naegleria fowleri “can only happen when water contaminated with amoebae enters the body through the nose,” according to the department’s news release.

Yes, must use filtered water eg Amway filter and use the proper sachets from the hospital or pharmacy

I am sorry, but the guy you mention is "mega rich" but he and his wife do "sing song" in the local restaurant??

He actually ownes the whole area. Most days there is quite a large Karoake group performing in the restaurant area. Does that answer your question.

Sorry, I must stop speed reading as obviously I’m not very good at it lol … 200,000Baht? Mercedes told me for my E350e that the starter battery is iro 17,000Baht and the aux battery about 7000Baht

OK - so update is that I did plump for the warranty.

During the last service, the battery needed replacing. The cost for one from Benz would have been 200,000 Baht. For a battery. OF course, if it wasn't under warranty, I wouldn't have paid that, I'd have got a battery from another supplier.

The motor in one of the seats went too - and I didn't ask about the price of that.

So it's almost paid for itself.

Pedro, have you retro fitted a hybrid system to that old C Class. 200,00 for a starter battery, they saw you coming lol ..Any old battery of the same rating will fit … BUT by what you have done your extended warranty will be void BUT anyway the starter battery is covered under the Mercedes extended warranty.

Pools like that are probably so full of urine and feces and sickness causing bacteria I would never swim there.  Even Pattaya beach water is probably safer.

That is what is so sad. It was rebuilt about four years ago, the lady who ran it, and owned the company who rebuilt the pool, she never even used a stabiliser, the pool glistened. But it was hardly ever used, the people in this village seem to be not interested in swimming.

The pool and complex are owned by a really nice guy, mega rich.  He is very friendly and I’ll have a chat to him next time I see him.  There is a big group, including him and his wife, who have sing song in the restaurant most days.

The lady gave up and the couple there now just manage the pool and restaurant. It’s obviously loosing loads of money and I know they added a stabiliser a long time ago.

It opens at 7am and the same three or four oldies hold their morning meeting. The rest of the day it’s basically empty until a few children have their swimming lessons about 4pm. A dive school use the pool once or twice a week for a couple of hours during which time the pool is closed to others.

So when I go I am normally the only one in the pool and it is only about 50M from our house. If only they would manage the chemistry better. So I won’t use it again unless they take more care with the chemistry.

It’s a 20M pool with a separate pool for non swimmers and children. Everyone has to use a swimming hat, even those like me!

  12. Our village has a lovely salt water swimming pool. It’s managed by a couple of people who in my opinion are not the brightest.

In the  last two years, excluding now, I have had three throat infections requiring antibiotics… Certain that the swimming pool was the cause as every day the chemistry is reported same same ……

I have very recently started swimming again.

Yesterday I went in the pool both morning and afternoon.  I noticed a throat irritation yesterday evening. When swimming I obviously get some water in my mouth. Now, today, my throat is much more sore. Yesterday the water tasted odd, bit oily.

Today I noticed that they have dropped the free chlorine to 1.5ppm They told my wife that they checked the chemistry on the first of the month.

Suppose will have to go to doctors again. I assume that it is too much of a risk to leave it is as most likely a bacterial infection.

  13. Saying  ‘Fake Parts’  I take it to mean that the parts and packaging are made to look like a genuine parts as supplied by the vehicle manafacture in their origional packaging.

What is available everywhere are genuine OEM, Chinese OEM or aftermarket. Of course the source of these parts could be from any of the previous.

I removed my toilet last week so i can tile floor, no seal and only fixed down by cement. I did find an empty plastic milk bottle under the toilet, why someone would do that i cant imagine TIT! What amazes me is the small size of the hole in the base of the toilet which was just hovering over the 4" soil pipe , the floor was soaking wet under there.

Most people cannot produce turds bigger than about 1.5” in dia, so exit hole from toilet doesn’t need to be that big.

No, I am not wrong.   Below is a photo of a Wise transfer that I did on Tuesday 31st January, reaching my SCB account on Friday 3rd February.   Wise charges are of course based on a percentage of the amount being transferred, so the better exchange rate is of greater value with large amounts, but of course so is their fee greater and negates some of the benefit being gained as opposed to banks with very low or now foreign transfer charges.

I'm putting this in the context of monthly pension type transfers which typically will not be huge amounts, and the benefit of gaining FTT credit each month regardless of which Thai bank used.   There is of course the advantage with Wise of a guaranteed rate (which is something of a gamble also, as it could rise as well as fall, same as a bank to bank 'live' transfer).   Again, a couple of shots of SCB's TT exchange rate for transferred pounds sterling as of close of play yesterday, and the actual Wise rate currently being given.

I think that you should continue using your bank for transfers.   You do seem to get a really good deal. Congratulations

Am I correct that you compared exchange rates at the same time or a day or two apart. Also my experience in the past is that internet posted rates are not always the same as you get.

And of course it’s good to know that you don’t get bank charges either end. BB can charge up to 500thb for TT transfer
